  1. yes, set your desktop resolution lower if you want to achieve this
  2. ^^ yep, you need to make sure you are looking at the "Axis Commands" section of the asignment screen. In the drop down menu that filters differnt control sets, look for the one highlighted in Green , called "axis commands" ...you can only assign axis in there.
  3. not that I know of, but, you can just take a screenshot of the map in game if you like :)
  4. Hi Mate, No problem, it is "fairly" easy, though more complicated than in other games ;) You need to either Edit the mission, or create a new one in the mission editor. When you have the mission open in the editor, find the KA50 icon on the map, select it, and you should see some info on the right hand side. On teh bottom half it will have "Waypoint information" , and waypoint1 should be selected. On "type" will say "takeoff from runway"...you want to change this to "Start from Parking" Save the mission, and you will now start cold and dark on teh parking apron.
  5. Hi Aussie, If the Pedals show up as a single directInput axis, then you should definately be able to asign them to the rudder axis. If they are 2 seperate Axis, then that might be more difficult. To try it out, goto options, click on controls, then in the "KA50 Real" section, select teh green highlighted "Axis Commands" drop down menu, then look for "Rudder" , double click under the G25 controller (assuming it shows), and then move teh appropriate Axis, and it should map for you. As for skins, these are set in the mission editor by the mission creator. If you wish to change skins, then you must open up the mission in the editor, and modify the KA50 (it is donw in the weapons loadout screen), then save the mission. It is not difficult, and I'm sure with 5 minutes messing about you should get it figured. Alternatively, there is a free 3rd part app called DCSMax that allows you to dynamically set your skin I believe (havent used it, but lots of people do, and they all love it...search this formum for DCSMax for more info)
  6. Hi Faolin, It is slightly more coimplicated in the blackshark becuase trim plays 3 roles 1) it recenters hydrolic pressure (?) on the control plates that are used to recenter the cyclic , which is normal trim operation, but... 2) it also, while held down, stops the autopilot chanels enforcing their current control set. 3) when released, it changes the autopilot chanels current contrl set to the new pitch/heading So, The idea behind pressing and holding the trimmmer , is so that during a manuever, lets say a bank to the left, the pilot is not fighting the AP heading hold chanel that is trying to keep the bird steady on its last programed heading. If you press and hold the trimmer, the bird will bank and turn left as you would expect with your cyclic inputs. If you do not press an hold, then the bird will fight you the whole way...though you will eventually win (the AP only has 20% authority), it still seem a bit ungracious to me. I belive this is beeing re-assesed in the patch, as there was some incorrect data on how the Heading hold AP channel works IRL.
  7. lol..no, just projecting my own dreams
  8. they haven't mentioned it specifically for DCS, but it would surely be awesome
  9. Hi Bruto Make sure you HAVE NOT mapped the throttle axis!!... The Axis you want to map is the Collective Axis!.. Throttle need only be controlled by pg-up and pg-down , and even then, is ONLY used during engine start and engine shutdown.. If you start cold and dark, then after engine start, you will press Pg-Up twice to set throttle into "Auto" , where it will attempt to keep engine RPM at %80 automatically all the time, and thereafter, you will never touch it again!. If you start "on the runway" and allready powered up, then you never have to touch it at all. Double check your Axis mapping, and make sure it is Collective control, and NOT throttle control you have mapped. Increasing collective / G-load can negatively impact RPM due to increased resistance on the rotors, and so the Auto throttle will try to increase power to compensate. If the engines are running at %80 , then they are generating power (assuming your generators are switched on)... the generators provide AC power for things in the cockpit, such as the Shkval TV screen! ....therefore, if engine RPM drops below 80% (or somewhere near there), then you can loose all devices powered by AC, which seems to be what you are seeing. good luck!
  10. Also, be hella careful to know the trim state of your rudder! Press ctrl-enter to get the controls map... use this to tell wehther you have accidentaly trimed out your rudder....whn travelly forward at speed, the effect can be minimal, but when slowing down, suddenly even a little bit of rudder trim can set you off in a spin.
  11. Having said that, if you hold the Collective fully for a long period of time, the engines can and will overheat, and blow up . . There are electronic governors that automatically reduce power to the engine if the Exhuast gasses get too hot (indicating the engines are working harder than is safe) ... if you have the EEG contrl on (which is mandatory!) , then you will see two yellow warnings come on in top right panel, this indicates the electronic governors are reducing power to help reduce the engine work...however, if you keep the engines running in this state, they can still over heat. If you see the yellow warnings, you must reduce collective until they go off ... if needs be, this may also mean slowing down.
  12. you must set the Throttle to "Auto" after the engines have spooled (Page Up twice), and NEVER touch it again during the flight :) There is no call , except in extreme emergencies, to manually move the throttle from Auto, and you are too newb to be dealing with extreme emergencies ;) to re-iterate The Throttle is not touched at all during flight, only during startup and shutdown. Auto Hover mode (Alt-T) is not a magical "fix it all"... if you are out of trim, then it will not hover correctly even when engaged. It is meant to keep you hovering above a spot when you are allready perfectly in manual trim for a hover. The AP only has 20% + / - of the control authority the pilot has, so you kjust manually come to a hover (or very close to) and trim for it, then engange Auto hover if you want. there is no "auto trim" key, just a plain standard trim key "T" Try the "Push and hold" trim method to see if that works for you..ie. only release the trim button when you are going to go hands off the stick.Be sure to have your rudders centralised before you release the trim button.
  13. You know the manual is freely available in PDF allready right?...look in your "docs" directory ...
  14. ENR mode uses whatever Pitch seting you have trimmed.. so...to maintain a speed in ENR mode, you need to get to that speed first, the TRIM for it properly (so flying hands off the stick will still maintain that speed), THEN engage ENR mode
  15. ?...dunno.... Would be a shame though, both would be very welcome!
  16. *edit...snapped by Eth* ^^ as a matter of fact, thats exactly what happens...IF you turn on the engine de-icing! .. it redirects some of the exhaust gasses (I think?) to around teh air intakes, whcih are prone to icing. The Rotor de-icing uses an electrical current (kida like the de-fogger on teh back window of your car). Ice forms on the rotors BECAUSE they are spinning at a milltion miles an hour...imagine how cold it would be if you were sitting on the leading edge spinning around at whatever RPM...you'd have ice on you too!
  17. To activate the proximity fuse, you need to select the "A/A" button on the weapon control panel. If the Heli is coming towards you / front aspect , then also select the "A/A HO" button , which (presumably) shortens the fused delay to account for a target rapidly approaching, otherwise the shot detonates behind the target because of the closure rate. In the even that you are north south, and he is east / west, the Vhikr will be constantly adjusting its heading (like beaming an a2a missile in LO) .. it stands to reason (?) that the Vickr can eaither run out of propellant as a result, and fall short, or, that it it unable to change course at a rate fast enough to track such a target. It is pretty hard to hit a moving air target, as they tend to start dodging as soon as they pick up your laser ranger tickling them...so, maybe 50/50 at best with a2a vhickr shots ? in my experience anyway
  18. yes, they are developing the AH64a *woot* !!! , not the "D" though, as it is still very classified...whereas the "A" is not. ... you'll haveto google if you want to know the differnces, but essentially the A is an oldskool version of the apache with no radar. If you search the forums, you will even see some work-in-progress shots of the AH64a cockpits! As well as the AH64a, they are developing: - A10a - A10c - Mi24 - F16c - F15c - Mig29a and if there is a god in heaven, then they are also doing the su25a / t , and Tornado ;)
  19. select "KA50 real" options from the dropdown on left hand side. Select "axis commands" from the right hand box (highlighted in green) Find the "flight control collective" axis box, look right untill you also see the column with your joystick (ie you should see Keyboard, then Logitech Extreme" or soemthing, then mouse etc..) Double click on the box in the joystick column that corresponds to the collective row. Move the Throttle axis on your joystick ... you should see "Joy_Z" or something similar appear done
  20. Hi Cat, Officially, I believe the only trigger that works in multiplayer for all clients is the "activate group" trigger, all others are sketchy at best... I think the Message actions also work, but I don't think the set or unset flag ones work, and flag states don't seem to stay consistant across clients, which I think is the cause of your problem. Sometimes the Host will see good results, but any clients will not,, which seems to be consistant with the idea that certain states (perhaps flag states) are not maintained centrally and shared / updated by clients. I think / hope that a lot of these issues are beeing adressed with the patch (at least they have mentioned significant updates to the ME and trigger system, so heres hoping!) If they get all of the trigger actions working consistantly across Multiplayer clients, then we should see some really cool missions. someone like Kingsnake will probbly be best to outline the limitations that he has found when making his big multiplayer missions, as he sems to use audio triggers and randoms sucessfully (I haven't disected any of his mission to check what else though, but might be a worthwhile excersize)
  21. well..if there is an exporter from .blend to .3ds , then I don't see why not ... check around, there is bound to be a freeware exporter. ...also, isnt there a free version of 3dsmax that you can use for this?...GMax or something ?
  22. Allthough, the AI pathing does avoid wrecks as well..or at least for a period of time (while emiting smoke?) ... so by that reasoning, we can assume that wrecks do (possibly) have a collision box, and that the inability to target them with Skval is another property alltogether. Also, consider the Skval cannot lock targets once it gets too dark...this is done dynamically, and I cannot imagine it is achieved by removing collision properties ... My guess is there is some rudimentary ray casting to detect an object , and that, if destroyed, or if after/before a certain hour of the day, the object no longer recieves ... seems like something that might be moddable though, assuming the "recives Shkval rays" property is exposed ? Perhaps Ulrich or someone can elucidate?
  23. Hi Guys, Check in the Game Controllers control panel in windows, and see if the same behavior is exhibited in there (it has a control panel style layout with all available axis and button assignments for directinput). Also, Try a differnt USB controller if available, or even a powered external USB hub, incase it is bus issues.
  24. ^^ I was one of those, and it has allready been discussed....twist sticks are to blame!...or "steeringwheel on your feet" syndrome
  25. legend....great stuff Viper
