  1. Another idea.... in the mission editor, at the bottom of the screen, there is a "watch" button (mouse hover = "Historical List of Units"). It's on the bottom task bar, just to the right of where it says "MAP / SAT / ALT" and the little "tank" icon. Make sure this watch-icon is NOT checked. It should be dark.
  2. It might be to do with the date in the mission editor. Try making the mission date later (or find the option that lets you use aircraft from any era).
  3. I'm already really pleased with the MB-339 news. But I'd be really thrilled if a G.91 was ever realised! Yes... go for it!! (and with German markings too, please!)
  4. Was delighted to read the news. Welcome IndiaFoxtEcho!
  5. I know this is an old thread, but I've still kept at hunting around looking for ideas. Then, I came across this "RAF trainer". As first I didn't think it was a Yak-52 (because of the conventional gear, exhausts and canopy). I tried to find it by the registration, but only found a different WW2 type (EXAMPLE). Then I found it out: it's a mock-up for re-enactments... http://www.airnieuws.nl/movements/lelystad/jul16/ (scroll right to the bottom of that page). In any case, it is a sort-of WW2 stand in, I guess. Either way, it looks like a nice skinning-project for any RAF-enthusiasts out there.
  6. Pretty much what @gavagai said... I'd add only a couple of things. 2. SRS is common, immersive and highly recommended... even if you only just "listen in" at first. Some servers also use Discord, which can be great for pre-/post-mission chit-chat. Check the mission briefing/server-information to see what a server uses. 4. Take a look at the map and the spawn points. Starting from a less-used airfield might help you get started in a more relaxed way. Especially if you are worried about your procedures or you are new and are finding your feet.
  7. The Storm of War statistics software has been updated to v38. It now tracks the P-47 variants. Aircraft will show up on individual pilot pages too (see the "pilots" list). A summary of the different aircraft types is provided. Ref: https://stormofwar.info/aircraft.php
  8. I did some hunting about to see what I could find. ED have announced their roadmap (REF1) (REF2). In the latest version (15-Apr-2020), the ED CEO states: That means a completed assets pack this year. Originally the Reddit announcement included the A8 (which implied the F8/G8 variants), but the FW190's was then dropped from the forum announcement, so that project is obviously cancelled/postponed. However, the WWII assets pack is scheduled for completion this year as they haven't said otherwise. That should include the C-47. It has been mentioned consistently in numerous Weekend News (EXAMPLE) as part of the ongoing development of the assets pack. Freya is another one that has been mentioned (EXAMPLE). Both have been with screenshots at various stages.
  9. Totally agreed. Possibly even extend that out to German aircraft more generally. For example, in the interview with Nick Grey on the P-47 earlier this year, there was a question: "What was the reason behind picking the P-47?" Breaking down his response (with some quotes), we have: @13.45 - 57s of Fighter Collection background @14:42 - 28s about the P-51 ... "probably one of the most beautiful pieces of machinery built by man" @15:10 - 3s ... "and then we had to go on to a bit of German stuff and whatnot" @15:13 - 16s on the Spitfire ... "the most iconic aircraft ever created by man" @15:29 - 63s about the P-47 ... "a fantastic machine to fly", "it did an incredibly good job", etc. With that viewpoint, frankly, I am amazed we have any German aircraft at all. :? Ref:
  10. ED were talking about it for a while. I compiled a list of relevant dev links HERE, if anyone is interested. However, more recently (20-Mar-2020), ED announced: Ref: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4251084&postcount=245 However, it has basically gone quiet on the F8/G8 since they declared at A8 out of Early Access. Yet, I'm still desperately hoping for the F-8/G-8. Please, ED?
  11. In the interview a couple of days ago, the ED CEO mentioned a few projects, but the Yak-52 was not one of them (REF).
  12. Thanks for providing something concrete. I went and looked it up. Here is the reference and start time, if anyone wants to listen to it for themselves. (starting 49:27) The transcript of the relevant section is: -- Katia Peredenko, ED CEO I think it is difficult to interpret what that actually means, but that's the actual quote.
  13. Perhaps at the specific times that you have been online, you might feel there is a decline of multiplayer P-47s. However, this is not the case globally. For example, on the Storm of War server (which has been the busiest WW2 server this year), the percentage of P-47 flying* has been steadily going up. For the last three months, it has been: July = 13.7% Aug = 14.2% Sep = 18.5% * percentage of P-47 flying = number of flight hours logged by P-47s compared to the total number of flight hours logged by all types, during a given month.
  14. I really, really wish you were right. But this is the usual problem, I'm afraid. Someone vaguely remembers thinking that someone said something that they had read on somewhere. That in turn was not quite right, misinterpretted or somehow embellished with wishful thinking. I do that the whole time. :-\ The most recent official news I can find is here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=4287187 (I just did a more thorough search too, but no... that's still the most recent I can find. Before that was just a post about the Mosquito being after the P-47. That was back at the beginning of January; REF) Anyway, if someone knows of anything official that is more recent, please post the link.
  15. There is no timeline. The most recent statement I can find was from ED was by the CEO (Kate Perederko) in April, who said that the Mosquito was in "passive development" and no resources had been allocated to it. This was clarified as: Ref: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=4287187 If someone knows of anything official that is more recent, please post the link.
  16. This would definitely be a massive help for WW2 scenarios! It would be especially for the AB250-SD2 cluster munitions. But also for registering all sorts of mission objectives for bombing. When the trigger mechanism goes off, it could also then fire other actions (mission accomplishment, secondary explosions, spawned units, etc.). There are a lot of mission possibilities that this sort of trigger would help, being useful for a whole range of training, campaign and multiplayer scenarios.
  17. We have now added a web-based monitor for the Storm of War server. The motivation for this is to assist our GCI controllers (Kenway/JaFü) as we expand our human-controlled radar system, but it is available for everyone to check on the server status. https://stormofwar.info/ We'll be adding more data/statistics to this as time goes on and improving the layout, but the basic data is now there.
  18. Mid-1944? Ha! There is not a single airfield on the map that was in use by the Luftwaffe in 1944 or 1945, and thus not a single airfield for any of the current Luftwaffe aircraft that are available for DCS. (REF) And the layout of Merville Calonne is NATO / Cold war. 60s-70s time frame, with its extended runway and jet-aircraft parking bays. (REF) Even if ED re-worked to map to early-1943 or even earlier, there are still no suitable Axis aircraft to use there (other than pretending that a 109 K4 is an E4, but Phil, you know the struggle we've had to get our players to pretend the K4 is a G6, right?).
  19. From the first screenshots to an Early Access release can be years, depending on the module. Showcased map photos usually mean that one area (out of a vast region) is good enough to show what it might look like when it's finished. Who knows what it looks like just out of the field of view of camera. The CEO announced in Mid-April (ref: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=269757 ) that the Marianas was "Mid-term" which was clarified to mean "it might be delivered in less than 9 months". From mid-April, that means it might be by the end of the year. The key word is "might". Given covid-19, the major summer push on bugs, the general delays on software and Hofstadters law, I would consider this to be a very optimistic might.

  21. Another report on the "head-out-of-cockpit with TrackIR" bug. This is difficult to reproduce, but I think I've found a reliable way to get it to fail. Versions: Date of test: 31 July 2020 DCS: Open Beta v 2.5.6.52437 Module: FW 190 A-8 EA Map: Normandy Preparation: New mission, Normandy map, 2x FW 190 A8, cold start Run the mission on my own server My procedure: Start the mission and spawn into one aircraft. With the canopy still open (default), you can move your head outside (correct). Close the canopy With the canopy now shut, you can no longer move your head outside (correct). Switch to a new aircraft. With the canopy of the new aircraft still open (default), you can move your head outside (correct). Close the canopy With the canopy now shut, you can no longer move your head outside. (Correct.) You can switch to a different new aircraft again if you wish and it will keep working in a similar fashion. Now, this time before switching... re-open the canopy. <-- This is the important point. With the canopy of the aircraft now open again, you can move your head outside (correct). But... Switch to a new aircraft. With the canopy of the new aircraft still open (default), you can move your head outside (correct). Close the canopy You can now still move your head outside the canopy. This is INCORRECT. _______________________________________________________________ The important thing is that the canopy clipping will work correctly no matter how many times you re-spawn. Until you re-open the canopy. Thereafter, a closed canopy will never restrict the TrackIR view. _______________________________________________________________ Notes: I understand that this problem exists on other WW2 aircraft, but I have not personally tested any of them. I have tested this pretty hard and it seems repeatable. I do not know if this would be the case for those other aircraft. I believe it is independent of the map. I've seen the same thing on at least one other map (Caucasus). I have attached the mission file that I used for the test. I have attached a track file which shows the problem. test-fw190a8-trackir-bug-20200731.miz server-20200731-164540.trk
  22. This bug seems to have not been reported, so I'll post another track and some more detail of the issue. In summary, the emergency jettison of the rocket tubes only works before the rocket has been fired. Versions: Date of test: 31 July 2020 DCS: Open Beta v 2.5.6.52437 Module: FW 190 A-8 EA Map: Normandy Preparation: New mission, Normandy map, 1x FW 190 A8, air start, with BR21 rockets Run the mission on my own server My procedure: Spawn in the aircraft and get stabilised Enable the rockets Fire none, one or two rockets Flip the jettison switch A rocket that was not fired will jettison (correct) The tube of a rocket that was fire, will not (INCORRECT - the tube should come away) Notes: I've also seen the same thing with hot-starts and cold-starts from the ground. I've also seen the same thing on at least one other map (Caucasus). I have attached the mission file that I used for the test. I have attached three track files which shows the none/one/both scenarios. server-20200731-162722.trk server-20200731-162839.trk server-20200731-162940.trk test-fw190a8-br21jettison-bug-20200731.miz
  23. This is still not working correctly (after the summer bug-fix push from ED). Also, it is still not marked as REPORTED, so here's a re-test to provide more evidence. Versions: Date of test: 31 July 2020 DCS: Open Beta v 2.5.6.52437 Module: FW 190 A-8 EA Map: Normandy Preparation: New mission, Normandy map, 1x FW 190 A8, air start Run the mission on my own server My procedure: Start the mission and stabilise the aircraft flight. Select the fuze as Wagerecht oV. Safety catch on the flight stick switched off Go to external view (F2) and adjust camera Drop the AB-250 canister. Immediately go to ordnance view (F6) to watch the dropped canister. It pretty quickly opens to dispense the SD2 bomblets. Immediately go to ordnance view (F6) to watch the bomblets. On dispensing, the wings appear, which is correct. However, they then within a split second disappear (INCORRECT) The bomblets then fall to the ground at maximum rate, land in a tight group (also not fully correct, but this might be a side effect of the wings disappearing and the then-incorrect fall rate). The bomblets all explode on impact (INCORRECT) The bomblets do not make any noise when they explode (INCORRECT) What should happen is that the bomblet wings remain and the bomblets fall to the ground slowly, dispersing over a wider area. The bomblets should not necessarily explode on impact. Historically timed and disturb-fuzes were used. Notes: I have seen this incorrect behaviour on other maps (e.g. Caucasus) I note that the incorrect behaviour is independent of what fuze setting is used (Sturz/Wagerecht and mV/oV) I have attached the mission file that I used for the test. I have attached a track file which shows the problem. test-fw190a8-sd2-bug-20200731.miz server-20200731-153048.trk
  24. I've been testing this again today, and the P1/P2 CB (circuit breaker) is still not working correctly on the FW 190 A8. Versions: Date of test: 31 July 2020 DCS: Open Beta v 2.5.6.52437 Module: FW 190 A-8 EA Map: Normandy Preparation: New mission, Normandy map, 1x FW 190 A8, starts with engine on Run the mission on my own server My procedure: Apply brakes Switch master arm on Safety cover on flight stick off (i.e. Live) Check the P1 and P2 CBs (both on, by default) Fire guns (both cowling and inner-wing guns fire = correct) Switch off both P1 and P2 CBs Fire guns (neither cowling nor inner-wing guns fire = correct) Switch on P2 CB (leave P1 off) Fire guns (neither cowling nor inner-wing guns fire = INCORRECT, the cowling guns should fire) Switch off P2, and switch on P1. Fire guns (inner-wing guns only fire = correct) Switch on P2 CB (also leave P1 on) Fire guns (both cowling and inner-wing guns fire = correct) Switch off P1 (leave P2 on) Fire guns (neither cowling nor inner-wing guns fire = INCORRECT, the cowling guns should fire) Notes: I've also seen the same thing with air spawns and cold-starts. I've also seen the same thing on at least one other map (Caucasus). I have attached the mission file that I used for the test. I have attached a track file which shows the problem. server-20200731-145710.trk test-fw190a8-cb-bug-20200731.miz
