  1. Capitalising on a pandemic leaves a bad taste on the mouth no matter which way you spin it. If ED want to do something to help out with all the people stuck at home I say throw out a few more free test drives and host a bunch of MP events. For example they could do a Red Flag event and a free NTTR weekend, Free Hornet and Su-33 and an event when they release Marianas etc
  2. You can pick up one of these or these For much less than the price of a DualShock 4 and they are infinitely better. Or even this for only a little more.
  3. Lol no I was behind it. Basic procedure was Ground power on >> APU start >> Engine anti-ice on >> Left Engine false start >> Left engine crank start >> Left engine start >> Right engine crank start >> Right engine crank start >> Right engine start >> Move throttles to max and wait for them to warm up. Definitely altitude plays a role in the way the engines start, I'll do more testing when I have time to see how this and temperature effects start up. :dunno:
  4. The missing step was found. Delete VAICOMPRO folder in \Saved Games\DCS\Mods\tech
  5. If you set the mission editor temperature to the lowest setting of -12.4 you get ~ -26 degrees at 1000m and engines start a lot easier. Over 2000m is where the trouble really begins and I think this is true even for higher temps. I always thought it was a feature rather than a bug, but I am very happy if it is a bug and gets fixed then I can run more alpine missions. Here's a track. subzerohighaltstart.trk
  6. Your big issue here is the altitude. Still they can be started by crank starting each engine first. I took control of your track and was able to start both engines this way.
  7. Yeah definitely feels like it's a lot less effective than it used to be but wasn't sure I wasn't just imagining it. Against AAV-7 and M113 you have to be dangerously close it seems.
  8. When you have ED forums open in your second monitor and press refresh every ten minutes. #JustWednesdayThings
  9. Indeed. I think a lot of people do understand this but want to see the developers of the mod receive a financial reward for their work. In this case I think the best to hope for is ED or a third party buys the work done thus far and maybe offer a contract to the devs to get it to where it needs to be.
  10. I'd always just thought it was lights in the storage bay where the pilot kept his Adidas sneakers and tracksuits. but that was just an assumption. I also thought the cockpit was a weird place to have the light switch for that.
  11. Yep IFR hood, gun sight and gun camera should all be in the special tab (without multiplayer over-riding them) or they should be ground crew options. Sadly L-39 seems like abandonware.
  12. That is correct, and it would have been great if it had of worked but it was a technology in its infancy at the time. This USED to be true but during the JSF tender Boeing absorbed McDonnell Douglas thereby becoming one of the most experienced manufacturers of combat aircraft. To this day it manufactures the F-15 and F-18.
  13. You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.
  14. Hey Alpenwolf. I was flying the Ka-50 on Open Range and noticed that though it has weapons the FARP does not have any fuel. Already at bingo I wasn't able to make the (long!) return trip to MinVody.
  15. Tried and tried again and this just won't work. Each time repair removes the same two files. speech.lua & common.lua Latest version of DCS open Beta, Open Beta check box selected, latest version of voice attack latest version of VAICOM
  16. Along the top, right side.
  17. FB can be that external host (and in fact may be its best quality), simple as right click > copy image address
  18. I think if you press "stop" it rotates back to the stored position.
  19. Fixed internally? Still seeing the same on the latest OB release. Here are my test results. Notes: -Excluding the Chinese ships this only seems to occur when spawning at mission start. -Wind speeds of 12m/s and above will cause the gear to break on the Ticonderoga. -Kuznestov is fine in any practical wind speed. Thanks.

+1 If it moves I want to click on it.
  21. My thoughts after a few days. My thoughts on the new pit. I thought I'd give it a few days before making my mind up and I'm glad I did. First impressions were "urgh this is like the F-5 and L-39" both of which kind of felt out of date when they were released. With some tweaking of graphics settings I was able to improve things, though it should be noted I had to do this in DCS, my graphics card settings, & my monitor. The result however was worth it. Now I'm quite happy with the new cockpit assuming it is still WIP. Gauges look great especially the HSI, just look at it! I love how the K-041 Shkval screen really looks like a glass CRT screen (for those of us old enough to remember what those look like). The reflection could do with toning down though and instead of seeing a reflection of a pilot-less helicopter having a pilot leaning forward and looking right at the screen would be far better. Baked in reflections are a problem all around and will hopefully be addressed. Interaction with the new (WIP) lighting does seem to be an issue though, especially with reds and blues. There are some other problems here and there that have already been touched on like the intermittent yellow pylon lights and others that have been acknowledged. Look forward to further polishing of the graphics and a statement of intent. -Will we see more interactivity with switches in the cockpit (Even without function things like IFF)? -Will the window wipers work and will rain drops appear on the Shkval? -Added features, Shkval filters, pitot heating lights, windshield fogging? -More I can't think of right now. Or is this just a cosmetic upgrade and anything more will come with BS3?
  22. Nice work JaBoG32_Dirty!! Greg's Airplanes and Automobiles is on of my favourite YT channels. Always learn something new.
  23. I'm not sure if this is Ka-50 specific but I don't have any other choppers to test with. Spawning on a ship, especially the Heli-pad of a Cruiser/Destroyer/Frigate ~50% of the time results in broken gear. This is because the aircraft is spawned a couple of meters above the deck and comes crashing down. By adding wind and waves this can be made to happen more often. Su-33 spawns above the deck too but seems to have a reduced gravity effect for a second after spawning. Reducing the impact. Perhaps the solution to this is the same? Track attached. brokengear.trk
  24. Yes ED have really gone overboard with their crazy love affair of horrible baked in reflections on this one. It's even worse than in the L-39 back seat.
