... And the track clip is a perfect example of trackir built quality. Honestly, not wanting to add insult to injury anymore, but trackir is really a terrible product in comparison to what it could be for the price. Both soft and hardware.

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
microvax replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
Yep that would be awesome. 24/7 ASM stikes on the kusnezow. -
Thats a bug got reported twice already.
-
God damn groundcrew. :D Someone said it was a bug, me sorry.

If the three mig29 variants have different radars, I guess it makes sense. French ministry of defence probably wont tell us if the have the ELINT and if that ELINT has been used for the RWR. :)

https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=178005 Kinda yes, kinda no. :D Group mode apparently didnt work as it was supposed to. :)

Ah roggah makes even more sense, if the radar beam is 150 in diameter without considering the angle, the ranging is less accurate then if you are closer and the radar beam covers a smaller area. Imho CCRP works really well, or lets say as well as I would expect it except loft. I tried to find the video again unfortunately i didnt [yet]. It was called minisonde or something about the mirage 2000 in general and the CCIP pipper was deflecting a lot to the left and right. Will continue my search. Was on youtube. was one of the i dunno 5-10 minute short snippets from before 2000 I would say. They also mentioned in that video that it had "snap up capability" which supposedly is a thing just for the superpowers, was in english language. Struggeling to find that. AHH YIS FOUND IT. Chrome history to the rescue: perfectly flat, still jumping around. CCIP for guns rockets and belougas is still off, but CCRP and CCIP for mk82s works really well imho.
-
CCRP works fine, you just have to designate close enough. You allways have to consider that the radar beam has a diameter as well, which obviously gets bigger with range. And afaik CCRP locks the radar antenna to one point. For the CCIP pipper jumping that would be perfectly accurate tbh its not enough. Radar ranging is not as perfect as seen in game. There is hud footage of a 2000 dropping bap100s ccip pipper jumping left and right like mad while flying over airfield/runway.

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9

I do not think that mixing strikers would make it more like 104th. I am all for realistic scenarios. But DCS is not the place for realistic scenarios at the scale of blueflag imho. If you had "realistic" scenarios we would at least need convoys to make it from one airfield to another or to a farp or whatever to be captured and be usable. But DCS Engine at core simply would die. Blueflag imho is more of a multiplayer game mode. Thus I would advocate for mixing strikers again, and if it is only one round to test if it has any measurable influence on team numbers. And honestly when RVE was red the last two times we were standing at tblisi doorstep within days the last two times. Thats no fun either. Its really weird that squads disappeared and somehow the intent shifted from "to have some quality MP time" to "to win" when considering side choice. One Idea that just sparked, mainly for the rounds, maybee not so much for testing. Have the server running a few days with an empty mission, so no flying, just signing up for red or blue. In that phase you are free to choose whatevar side you want. Since no side has an advantage yet the advantage driven joining should be mitigated. Once that part of the sign up phase is over, the round starts and sign ups may only be made on the side which is in the number disadvantage. that should probably in the beginning raw sign ups and then over the few first days shift to average relation between team numbers over24 hours. Groups which fly together can sign up in pre round phase, cards can be kept covered or not, once the round start you can only join the side which is in the disadvantage the last few days. Might balance the numbers because honestly, when one side is massively outnumbering the other, its most often a mass of random names which gives one side the edge over the other. Just an Idea. :) -
Yes it has chaff and flare pods, no built in dispensers. Not quite sure how many flares and chaff they did carry. Guess it came down was something like 400 chaff and 70 flares per pod. But there hasnt been a word from LNS so far.

Its correct to my knowledge. You do not want to fire stores on the ground :P.

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9

Noice ! And I actually agree with Moltar, as nice as asymetry is, it narrows down peoples side choices even further. In Fighters it doesnt matter as much imho, since the flanker and eagle are comparable in functionality, while Gazelle and KA50 and A10c and su25t are not in the slightest. With the asymetry you are not only deciding by where your friends fly, which side you prefer by Terrain or whatnot, but also what frames you can and want to fly. Personally I think the rounds with the symetric strike setup were the ones which were the most fun, because the frontline was waay more dynamic. The last few rounds it felt a lot like ww1 trench style warfare. :D I do not know if equalling out strikes will bring back more balanced numbers/level the playing field but its imho worth a try. -
Will the Viggen support toggle switches?
microvax replied to JanTelefon's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
exactly, best decision of my life and really easy to do to be honest. It is just a little annoying. :D -
iirc AJS37 has the same radar as the SH37. The AJ had a different one.

Grudge Match Series- Round 3: Mig 21 Vs F-5 & AJS-37 Viggen!
microvax replied to Hook47's topic in Multiplayer
I dunno if it really has faster instantaneous. The AJS37 is probably mostly limited by the compressor stalls above 18degrees aoa. https://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=139957&d=1462240965 Just wanted to point out that overall flight performance wise the Viggen is probably at least even with the F5 and Mig21. But I agree that in the end it comes down to the pilot much more then to the frame and the armament. -
Grudge Match Series- Round 3: Mig 21 Vs F-5 & AJS-37 Viggen!
microvax replied to Hook47's topic in Multiplayer
Why so ? The Radar isnt really suited for air to air, but performance wise the Viggen should outperform both the Mig21bis and the f5. Dunno about playtime but also in that category is the viggen pretty exceptional. Only thing limiting it is its a2a radar functionality, which is worse then both the mig21 and f5s. -
Grudge Match Series- Round 3: Mig 21 Vs F-5 & AJS-37 Viggen!
microvax replied to Hook47's topic in Multiplayer
That it can carry them on the mid wing and fuselage pylons I know, question is if the wing tip pylons can. I think I have spoted them on rl pictures but A that could be just for show B that could be misidentification due to low resolution pics, C the old loadout tables which include RB74 do not list them on the wingtip pylons. :D And since CM and guns can only be carried on the mid wing pylons, well, not having rb74 on the wing tips would be limiting you to two aim9j and two aim9l. :) Thats mainly why I asked ! :D -
Grudge Match Series- Round 3: Mig 21 Vs F-5 & AJS-37 Viggen!
microvax replied to Hook47's topic in Multiplayer
Interesting question with regard to the match: Will the AJS37 be capable of mounting the RB74 aka AIM9L on the wing tip pylons ? The loadout tables I have only list the RB24J on the wingtips, which would be rear aspect only AIM9j. But those loadout tables are old, they do not list the BK90 at all for example. And I have seen pictures of AJS37 with AIM9L on the wingtips, aim9x was afaik the first aim9 to drop interface rearward compatibility and the ja37 could mount aim9ls on the wing tips. So I guess the AJS37 can mount aim9l on the wing tips, but I am not sure here, question is, will the Leatherneck one be ? :D Should also be interesting what loadout they go for. With aim9L, they have the best a2a IR missile meanwhile they can either have guns OR chaff/flares. Will be interesting to watch ! :) -
mkIII can only do that because of the GPS receiver it has. MKI and II dont have one. :) And I really hope no RBS15 mk3, that would be pretty damn far off the real thing.
-
Very unlikely, more like NOPE. RB05 and RB75T are there for a reason, ships in front of terrain. Terrain in general just has so different reflective characteristics, that it would be pretty weird to work against anything but ships at sea.
-
Big missiles cant hit maneuvering targets. Mim104 does not agree.

Well, well. Best in depth description: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8bCDRcq9BVeUGxlNW5CaFhFQ2c/view One of the 90s edits of the Viggen Manuals also has a very short section about it. It is INS/radar altimeter guided, mostly low alt optimized. Due to the radar altimeter it is not recommended to launch over 500m AGL. Typical launch altitude would be 100m AGL, which gives you 7km range at mach 0.9. Up to 25degrees off boresight iirc, so you do not have to directly fly into the target. There are two types of submunitions, MJ1 and MJ2. MJ1 is anti personel style, 3 bomblets per tube, effective range 100m. MJ2 is quite a unique submunition to my knowledge. Its an cylinder whichs wall are covered with indentations, which leads to it firing 110 EFPs with roughly the balistic characteristics of an 2a42 AP projectile, in a circular pattern, its also rated at 100m effective range. It will make short work of anything with the armor levels of an APC/SAM and probably also most IFVs. Each tube carries one MJ2. Both submunition types are parachute retarded and will airburst or if that fails detonate on impact. Submunitions can be mixed, the ejection timings are variable. I at first had fears about the numbers of EFP spawned per BK90 and the DCS engine, but it isnt that bad. Even if you give them a lifetime of 0,25 seconds they already travel 500m, where they probably are already ineffective against anything but a flat btr80 side. So you have at maximum, if you really set a low ejection timing like 0,1 second at 400kph dispenser speed that would be roughly 11 meters, 660 EFPs flying around. That is rouhly the same as 3 rockeye traditional cluster bombs. So it should be possible by the game engine. You can have them either preprogrammed with coordinates before flight, enter the coordinates in flight, mark something on the a2g radar map or mark by overflight. There is only one problem, even if you know the coordinates, the Viggen needs to have an quite accurate fix of its navigation system, since the BK90 INS is initialized with the Viggen position and then flies according to that estimate where it is. So if your Viggen nav has a drift of 500m, the bk90 is basing its targeting at an 500m offset as well. So you either have to mark it on the a2g radar map, then nobody cares because it is taking the relative range to an drifted assumption about the location. Or you have to fix the nav before releasing the BK90s. I have two PDFs in the attachments which illustrate how MJ2 coverage will look depending on ejection spacing setting.

Not played for 3 weeks+, join the server again. What is happening with the lag ? :D Jesus I was surprised. :D ohh and please blg66 for mirage would be lovely :3. -
Nobody would use a CPU, simply nobody. You would use some kind of silicone which has exactly that one job to identify something worth tracking. That would then report to a CPU. Major criteria would be the LOSR but hey. We are all just forum warriors. What I can tell you, is that the computing power should not be the problem to realize something like 5-10hz update rate. Today so much computing power gets thrown out of the window, its really unreal.
