Currently all missiles seem to underperform, the F15 is the most obvious example, or it might be straight away the F15 thats borked, im not sure, thats why I am posting it to multiple sections to rase awareness, after the old threads have gone officially unnoticed for more then a month. I did include a SP track and tacview showing the issue twice in a row of 2 f15s getting hit by a motor still burning 530d meanwhile they take only cosmetic damage. The same thing happens in MP, the success rate of 530d vs f15 is atm worse then 20%. As said this is a general issue, all planes tend to absord massive amounts of damage sometimes but 530d/magic vs eagle seems to be consistent. Unfortunately the forum software doesnt let me use the same file again, so here are the links to the post in the razbam section and the attachemens: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=204446 https://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=180820&d=1521043484 https://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=180818&d=1521043423

As the title says, throught the entirey of 2.5 missiles have been doing sub standard damage. The most blatant issue is the mirages missiles agaisnt the F15. This issue has persisted since the second last 1.5.8 patch and I am getting to the point where I fear ED wont fix it. So I hope you guys can fix it your end. Both the 530D [especially this] and the magic2 do insignificant damage to the f15 and other planes. The Magic seems more reliable though for some reason. I append a Track-file and tacview of a case where 2 f15s took a 530d without relevant damage in SP even. f15 no damage.trk F15-no damge.zip.acmi.zip

currently the signature distribution across the harriers aspects is like a classic plane, meanwhile the hot nozzles are actually on the side on this aircraft. Now the questions is, can this be changed so the harrier actually emits in the characteristic ir bands for rear aspect emissions on classical planes, from the sides ? Because technically its wrong atm, at the same time im not sure if DCS is even capable of such.

And add ghostpresses to the list of issues, nothing mechanical...

F-15 Damage Model - Now a flying tank (as of 2/12/18)
microvax replied to Banzaiib's topic in Multiplayer Bugs
Evaluation from yesterdays training, 16 hits with 530d on f15s, 2 were lethal, the rest was minor damage basically. Interesting part is that even with minor damage, the f15 was considered dead after quite a few more 530d hits. Same issues did apply to aim120s, but I didnt evalutate full numbers on that. aim9s and magic2 seemed to be less affected, but still affected vs before the breaking patch. The mirage didnt survive a single missile hit in the same time. -

Yee the Igla is a better paperweight atm except against helicopters. unless there is a red country with stinger not much can be done I fear. -
plox add =RvE=Yorz, the Netherlands and =RvE=Veritech, Argentina to our team. Thanks in advance ! :)

I would say it's effective in game within its use case. You don't want to attack MBTs with it but anything else works well imho. For the rb75, I am aware that it's not to be used in a cas setup. But given the existence of the rb75 non t I'm quite sure it's intended to be used against not only ships or static targets.
-
For light/unarmored area targets the m71 work pretty well imho. I attack coloumns of unarmored vehicles, multi unit sam sites etc with it. The rb75 itself is an anti tank weapon and intended to be used as one, the rb75T not so much.
-
RB75T is a swedish local developed minewarhead so high HE load explicitly for anti shipping and demolition. The RB75T was a thing before the heavy warhead maverick warhead was even produced afaik. RB05 afaik is nearly 160kg HE charge.
-
If you are asking for mk82, load rb05, it has like double the HE charge, closer to an mk83 then mk82 tbh.

Altitude select switch not moving/moving on its own
microvax replied to Nealius's topic in Bugs and Problems
Its a magnetically held switch, it will switch to barometric if you leave the radar altimeter envelope, and you can switch back to radar unless you are within its operating envelope again. So its feature, not bug. :) -
Its literally a feature, its telling you, that you are in danger of running into the ground. Its like that in the real thing.

F-15 Damage Model - Now a flying tank (as of 2/12/18)
microvax replied to Banzaiib's topic in Multiplayer Bugs
Yeah there is a general problem with DM atm I believe. Harriers taking an r77 and r73 without smoking F15 taking an 530d and a magic2 without any damage Flankers have tanked some missiles. This is hugely annoying because especially with the mirage its kinda terrible if you have to hit your opponent 3 times to actually decomission him... -

There is some weird behaviour to this bug, it doesnt allways kick in, I will check if I can find reproducable conditions. -

A2G designations work as expected, but the magic slave is broken in the last update. You have to point the missile at the target in boresight, lockon is impossilbe via radar designation. -
Given recent findings about inaccuracies both in gunspread[1] and fireratebehaviour [2] of the current m61 implementation on the F15 I want to bring up a question ideally for the devs to answer. Will these shortcommings of the current fc3 m61 be resolved in the m61a1 implementation on the F/A-18c hornet ? Its pretty well known that gatling guns need a little bit of spoolup time. The m61 on the eagle uses two electric motors if I am not mistaken which are clocking around 77 horsepower. This leads to a spoolup time of roughly half a second, which should lead to round about 20-25 rounds fired in the first half second instead of the usual 50. I did suspect for quite some time that wasnt modelled in DCS at all but today I took it to the test. For that I did slow down the time to 1/8th and fired the gun for 2 seconds realtime which translates to a quater of a second in game time, which should have clocked in at less then 10 rounds fired. Surprise surprise it fires 25 rounds in the first quater second, behaving like a revolver cannon, basically completely ignoring the single tradeoff a gatling cannon really has in performance specs. Now I would like to know where do I bugreport dis to get it fixed. :D

Need help with optimising the paging file
microvax replied to Alpenwolf's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
A page file will perform like terrible in comparison to RAM, there is no way around that. The system managed size should dynamically increase to as much as is needed, otherwise your computer would crash. Like seriously, if the page file was "too small" as people say, you computer would bluescreen and byebye. There is a minimalistic performance gain from not having to dynamically grow and shrink it. uncheck automatic management and set it to something static like 32GB. Mind the danger though, if you then would need more then 16GB RAM + 32GB pagefile things go poof and you bluescreen. A page file will not boost your performance. It prevents your Computer from crashing if your memory runs out. The pagefile is your saviour if a program needs to page something in and there is absolutely no memory left to page it in. And only gain of a static size is that it doesnt have to map a part of the mass storage first. But for SSD that gain is minimalistic since you can allocate space very quickly without access time penalty for the rest working on the storage and the OS thinks a few steps ahead anyways.
