  1. Odd, I haven't experienced this once in a month of flying. Perhaps some of the AI scripts were corrupted on install?
  2. I did exactly as V1 said, and it worked. An easy job too. I greatly prefer the feel without the throttle detents.
  3. And that's exactly where the practice comes in. Shorten down that 30 seconds to ten or less, and then things will really start getting exciting :D
  4. Yes it's easy to do, someone simply has to upload the tracks to the web somewhere. JimMack commented on SimHQ that this is allowed. I'd do it if I had the english version :).
  5. I don't think there's a particular "cure" for this. It's just a matter of practice. The sideways drift is probably due to your trim configuration. Remember that the AP only has 20% authority at most, so it's important that you're trimmed for a stable hover before engaging autohover.
  6. Hmm, I thought your throttle should always be set to auto except when starting up or in case of engine failure.
  7. Well done, V1, I'll be doing this as soon as I get home!
  8. Also, note that you should always have the AP roll, pitch, and yaw stabilizers engaged. When lifting off, if you chose to have the altitude stabilizer on, then you should be holding the collective lever for the duration of your climb, otherwise you're fighting the AP. Therefore I recommend keeping the altitude stabilizer off at first, as it's one less thing to worry about. Now, you can't use auto hover for taking off, because auto hover is automatically disabled under 6m RALT. I believe this is a safety feature; you're expected to have full control when hovering at such a low altitude. So, as Moreno said, just turn on the input visualizer, and practice with the three necessary stabilizers engaged. Achieving a decent control hover was probably the most difficult maneuver I've had to learn so far in this great sim.
  9. I agree, I've always hated those detents, and now with BS they're just awful. Hopefully someone out there know the answer!
  10. You mean DCS addon modules. BS is the first in a (hopefully) long line of modules for DCS. Yes each module will cost extra. Since each module will also be its own stand alone game, it's likely that each will cost around $50.
  11. You're supposed to hold down trim for the duration of the maneuver. Rather than roll/trim/roll/trim, it should be press trim/roll/release trim.

  13. Simply beautiful!
  14. I think this is an excellent scheme for trimming with non-FFB sticks. Though it no longer works like the real thing, this method would improve controllability a lot, and ultimately lead to more realistic flying behavior.
  15. It's discussed in this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=34260
  16. I have almost exactly the same system, the only difference is an 8800GTS instead of the GT. And i have exactly the same problem as you. Running at 1680x1050, water normal, view distance medium, everything else high, gives me 30+ FPS at start, and <10 FPS during the battle. I noticed that pausing and alt-tabbing can temporarily restore the FPS, though it drops back down after 5 seconds or so.
  17. Sounds like you aren't using the trim properly...you're supposed to hold down the trimmer, then move the stick, and then release the trimmer while the stick is still in the new position.
  18. I have the following system: Intel E6750 @ 3.2GHz 2gb ram 8800GTS 320mb winxp pro 32 At 1680x1050, all settings high except water (medium), I'm getting around 30 fps most of the time. So, that 8800 can't be the problem. At resolutions that low and all settings at low, you should get outstanding fps with that card. So, I'm guessing that there must be a serious problem somewhere else. Perhaps a virus is sucking up all your resources, or a virus scanner, or other programs running in the background? Also, have you enabled "Run in Full Screen" in the options? That gave me a few extra FPS.
  19. 2 GPU's is definitely not wise, as most games don't support it, and something like a 9800 GT would probably be both faster and cheaper. Also, I would go for a fast dual core rather than the quad core you've got, again because almost no game today will support more than two cores, and it's something that won't be supported for quite some time. Also, the 8800GT, while a quality card, is already quite old, and by today's standard probably falls on the low end of mid range. I believe that, at the moment, the best bang for your buck will come from the ATI HD4870 series of cards (or was it 4850? don't recall). Remember that for most games, your video card will be the single most critical component, so you don't want to skimp out on it.
  20. I'll make you wish your Ka-50 had better gun placement... :music_whistling:
  21. I know there's a key press (forget which key) that will expand the chat window to cover the whole screen, useful if you need to read old messages. Perhaps you accidentally pressed this key?
  22. But how will the gun's removal affect the tactical flexibility of the Shark? Is it an advantage or a disadvantage?

  24. Wow. So much complaining over a sandbag texture. This is a flight sim!
  25. I've never seen the Barret referred to as a recoilless rifle. Care to provide a source?
