  1. I guess the more realistic argument is fair enough and DCS is pretty good. Problem ( personal opinion only ) is the lack if feedback available from the Sim. The fact that the in trim position is in the middle where most sticks have a fairly hard center causes a problem for me I changed to a gunfighter to fix this. Most FC systems have a feedback system to make you aware of how much force you are putting one the Aircraft even before you pull. I guess a good ffb stick may simulate this but I havent tried one. I guess what I am trying to say is that without feedback in your control system we are never going to be realistic and I would use whatever curve you like that lets you get over the limitations of your setup. Finally in an effort to get more feedback which aids massively in trying to achieve some realism I use a jetseat it gives pretty good feedback with buffet levels, you can feel when you approach the stall etc. My tuppence worth
  2. Oh yep the accelerometers are causing you trouble I assume. I did say it was acceptable so it may be worth the losses for geting stable head tracking. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  3. Trip like the gloves could be really useful in DCS. Unless there has been a marked change in the Vive software in the last couple of months I would be surprised if you sell your Rift. I havent booted DCS on the vive for a while as the Rift was so much better. It was acceptable I did some multicrew with my son but the off center focus is way better on the Rift and that helps a lot in DCS. Plus I would get occasional grey screen with the Vive. Love the roomscale on the Vive tho it is great fun. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  4. Yea IRL nearly all the switches you need in flight are down the left side and to the middle so you can make switch selections with your left hand. Its why radios in DCS are much harder than real life, you could grab the preset knob without even looking and select the new stud without ever looking away from your lead, while in close, in cloud. Try that in DCS lol Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  5. The solution is tracked gloves. You can hold the Hotas like real life and then flick switches with your gloved hand. If we had that I would stop arming up on the ground as I hate messing with the mouse once airborne as it break the immersion. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  6. I have decided that thread is just a wind up to see how much time someone can make us spend helping someone understand a basic principle of flight. The glider example above is good but you forgot about the sideslip, when be tries to turn cross wind. Just kidding we have used numerous examples like this to no avail. So at this point the only answer is if you really believe that the Wind affect the flying of an Aircraft Aerodynamically once it is clear of the ground go talk to a pilot face to face as you wont believe the pilots on this forum. Would it help if I told you I have a degree in Aeronautical engineering from Cambridge or would that make things worse, like me being a pilot with 36 years experience. And there you go I wasted another 5 minutes I just cant seem to help myself.
  7. Sorry its a known bug right now ED are working on it. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  8. This is not that difficult it is High school physics you keep showing pictures of Stability and Slip Angle , nothing to do with wind over the ground. So yes the post about wind applying a torque force on an aircraft in steady state flight is still a load of Tosh. Which I felt was quite polite really. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  9. They are on Dynamic Caucas 16 agr server just get someone to Sead the Airfield before you attack. One of our guys was in an F86 on our Airfield attack yesterday. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  10. If you want a slightly more casual, outfit with a good bunch of guys, Training based on Real Life Air Force Courses, but only if you want it. Take a look at the http://www.16AGR.com. We have a mixed bag of time zones and I am actually on in the afternoon so your evening with a few Brits whenever I am not on a Trip and sometimes even on the Trip as I carry my Rift with me. Our missions are run at the weekend but are not mandatory and you can usually find 6-10 of is on the server during the week at the UK evening. We like the L39 for training so the Instructor can demonstrate what he is talking about. We are not run like a pseudo military outfit , no Ranks , no compulsary Aircraft Qualifications if thats what you want we are not for you. We have a fair number of ex military guys so we emphasize fun and enjoying downtime.
  11. Well put Yurgon +1 Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  12. Do you have a link to download this ----disregard I was using Tapatalk got it. I have been teaching this on the 16AGR and while old its a good explanation of CS turns. For info these manouvers are much easier in VR despite the resolution limit as you can feel the 3 9 line from where you are looking. Great find thanks for posting. 13. Great thanks rrohde Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  14. Its real close to real life ( I have a lot of time) but in a Jet the stick does center slightly more positively to the trimmed position. I will chuck the hard center in the other base and try it . Is the Hard center harder than warthog one? Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  15. Dont get me wrong its super precise I didnt change the deadzone because I want to be very responsive for Helo ops. I would set up the second base but I am waiting for the MCG pro to come out then I will get another extension and set one for fixed wing and one for Helo. So all I need is a slightly stronger center should I try the other Cam or would that feel botchy near the center? Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  16. Can I ask aquick question ok n Setup. I am running the Warthog Stick top on the extension with 2*50# springs on each axis with the soft Cam. My stick has what I would call a large neutral zone. Its fantastic flying helos but a little unrealistic with fixed wind. I tried some clutch but that made it feel a little sticky when hovering so I took it out. Does someone have a suggested setup I should try. Thanks Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  17. The conversation is about a constant wind with no turbulence. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  18. +1 to what Yurgon yes its correct the Aircraft only knows about the Relative wind. If I do a dogfight with another Aircraft the wind at altitude is irelavent the fight is the same if the wind is 0 or a 150kts jetstream as long as it is constant for the altitude block the fight takes place in. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  19. David why do you keep bringing up sideslip. It has nothing to do with the Wind effects we are talking about. Yes it exists yes your diagrams are correct just has nothing to do with the conversation. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  20. Anyone not well versed in the subject matter probably should be going around I like this statement Big tho evetually they will have to actually land
  21. Also Fpv shows where tthe Aircraft is going relative to the earth as was pointed out. If I fly low level and want to fly into a valley I put the fpv on it and I will track to it. The difference between it and the nose direction is your drift or wind drift angle in balanced flight. It is not your sideslip angle which should be negligible in a normal Aircraft. The Fpv does not show your Aoa . You can deduce that from the difference between the fpv and the pitch attitude. I can fly level with 15 degrees pitch up and the fpv will show level. David in zero wind flying crossed controls you will produce a Hud Picture similar to the one you showed and in that case you can deduce your sideslip angle from the fpv to nose. Nothing to do with the wind and everything to do with your control inputs. Finally if you fly in an east wind and are tracking north and south or you have the Autopilot in and you track North and South your heading will be slightly east both ways as in 005 Northbound and 175 southbound with 5 degrees of wind drift. Nothing to do with sideslip or weathervaning just 3rd grade physics as someone pointed out. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  22. Shagrat in a fighter you let the nose turn in to wind at lift off and fly runway track with tbe drift. Your technique is what you do in an Airliner cos the the rotation takes so long. Nothing wrong with it but Fighters do the other way. In an airliner once wheels are safely off the ground you uncross the controls and fly balanced. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  23. Make it a vid war and they already are. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  24. In fact you may have showed the actual misunderstanding. Wind causes drift. Unbalanced control surfaces can cause sideslip. The 2 are totally independant when the Aircraft is airborne Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
