  1. While not in an F18 I have lots of A2G strafe time in the F3 and I have very good hotas setup , that was why I made the original post. I know what my Pipper control was like IRL and in game. I just couldn't believe the F18s gun was that inaccurate compared to the F3. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk
  2. Thanks look forward to it. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk
  3. IRL you tank in the turn as much as straight and level depending where he is on the track. Sometimes on OPS we would ask him to stay at the N end of the track if that was where we needed to go so everyone would have to tank in the turn. Yes there are lights Red Amber and green to give you guidance when behind and as importantly the hose has large bands on it that show you have far in to push it to be in the optimum position for and aft. In real life he doesn't mess with hose once it's out it stays out until he is out of fuel to give away. This does make it easier but yes I am afraid you do have to tank in the turn. 4. Yep that's what I meant. I have a Virpil base as well the old one, using it as my lantirn controller. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk
  5. Problem is the Warthog stick has a very heavy center spring so things like close formation especially in jets that auto trim get tricky compared to a soft center detent. Also my Warthog ( which to be fair was 4 years old) had to be moved almost an inch at the top ( with a 30cm extension on it ) before it even registered any movement. The VKB registers instantly so make it much more realistic to fly. The Warthog is about as responsive as a B747 wheel on initial movement. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk
  6. It's a long time bug I am afraid. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk
  7. Well thats disappointing I guess they fixed it for the D model along with a host of other stuff. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk
  8. Hey Spiceman do you know if we should get a Target designator in the HUD when in TWS with a hooked tgt ? Its pretty much the only reason I STT to get the pilots eyes on. I assume your last paragraph of tactics was for the missiles being fixed and STT giving a higher PK. Assuming Heatblur get given access. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk
  9. Thanks for that the last paragraph. Makes perfect sense. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk
  10. Vsl up down and pal are on the sidewall outside of the throttle and plm on the throttle. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk
  11. I see a difference as in I can see the ball as I pass the 90 whereas on my CV1 I don't really see it till the last 200 ft ish. I just think it's easier to see the in cockpit difference. I find it easier to see the targets aspect in a fight now. I don't need to go single circle all the time.to.make.sure I can see his aspect. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk
  12. I have had the leans quite a lot IRL normally when I was flying close formation in cloud as your head is stuck looking at a 45 angle. I used to just get my back seater to talk to me about our actual attitude I also had a slightly weird case of it on the wing the other day in cloud doing a case 2 but it wasn't quite the same, and Jester didn't do a very good talk through of our attitude. With regards to actual instrument flying your scan is everything and needs to be practiced. In order to get accurate it needs to be pretty fast and unless you fly a non HUD aircraft regularly it's hard to stay accurate ( Also I am a bit of a HUD / Glass cripple as I haven't flown steam guages since the Hawk). With the state of the HUD in the F14 and the fact that the instruments are not in the standard T the scan takes even more practice ( I gather the guys flew it almost exclusively head down IMC hence I include it in the non HUD aircraft). FYI the basic scan goes from the attitude indicator (AI) to the ASI back to AI then altimeter back to AI and so on. Depending on what you are doing vary the scan. Scan the VSI more on an ILS or less if you are straight and level for example. . Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk
  13. FYI the missile is completely borked right now it's active off the rail so once it's fired u can forget it. It will hit the 1st thing it sees no matter what range your actual target is. In reality you should have support it all the way to active which is pretty late. Tws Auto is also borked so it won't scan around the centroid of the targets ATM but due to point 1 it's also irelavant. I am afraid until it's fixed it makes most of your questions which are good ones irelavant. Fwiw I have had locks out to 50 no problem and found Jester to be mostly worthless for sorting . Atm there is no TD circle in the HUD for tws this may be correct but it's annoying I am used to a TD box for the highlighted track. Finally the only reason I use STT (apart from sparrows) is to get the pilot a TD box in the HUD . Hopefully that helped a little while you wait for Spicemans answer. 14. Yep OP I agree with you Rio does it all seems very unnatural to me. Certainly in a visual fight it would seem strange if every call from the pilot had to pass through the RIO. Fwiw in the Tornado the Pilot did WVR and all ATC comms. RIo did all GCI and BVR comms. This works a lot more naturally as far I am concerned but then again Navy are always a bit odd[emoji16]. 15. For number 2 you need to go to tws manual after shooting and slew the radar around anticipating the turn. You are the one calling the turns so lead the tgts in the scope so they stay in scan. Tws auto is currently broken. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk
  16. Ok I will answer number one as it's a common pilot mistake. Most Pilots I fly with I have to teach to fly smooth when BVR if I need a 30 right use 30 degrees of bank and a Max of 40 bank is plenty. It can be fairly easy to gymbal the radar if you are not careful. When you crank get him to use 40 max again. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk
  17. Some good stuff and nice explanation of the radar loves. The technique at 17:20 is not quite correct you can't put the nose down 3degrees to get mlc in auto to switch off the notch. You actually need to descend enough to get 3 degrees look up relative to the horizon as the radar is stabilized relative to the horizon. 18. Mine needed to be set up so the the forward view was where I sit. Although my guardian grid was off it was auto resetting on tracking loss to the forward position for my room scale and my desk was offset. At least that's what I think was going on as it now appears to be OK Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk
  19. Well I stopped it happening by re doing the guardian so it was in my seated position facing forward without doing a perimeter. I did notice it move slightly once after a "5" reset but I was still in the cockpit so it didn't matter. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk
  20. I have the same problem puts outside next to the nose. With the latest update of Rift and DCS. Happens intermittently and can't work out why. Something is resetting the tracking but not sure what. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk
  21. Known issue Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk
  22. I too would like the mirror angle changed. IRL and in game I want to see my wingman's position with a qlance in the mirrors not turn my whole head. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk
  23. Have you tried turning off ASW not ideal but I have to do it a lot on my mobile rig if it can't maintain close to 40fps it does weird crap and judders. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk
  24. Entering the hostile area for example leaving Kuwait to enter Irag you would fence in and vice versa. Caveat for DCS is it's a game so its not so cut and dried as IRL. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk
  25. Click on the point you want full trigger it and then press the hcu offset button. It works. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk
