I had exactly the same problem only with the AV8 and I also had an MCG-Pro. Similarly I was getting ghost inputs but only on the Harrier I had to move the A2A gun input. Weird that it was only on the Harrier. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk

Not sure but it appears that the on speed AOA is way above what Natops graphs show, today in the Gulf clean jet at 4k fuel and a full gun OAT 25 degrees 155kts gave me on speed should have been more like 135, this may also explain your not wanting to use DLC. I had to do a speed brakes in approach in order to have sufficient excess thrust. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk

[emoji849] I wasn't going to say anything but if we got stage 1 plus I would be happy. I retired before Amraam and Asraam that was in with stage 2 but I heard good things about it. To be fair tho the pre active missiles days was the glory days of the fighter pilot. You had to get close (I guess the Lightning guys said a similar thing tho of the guns era), at least in a semi active war you are always in close at the end, so end up in a visual merge half the time. It takes a lot more coordination to fight a semi active war tho which I guess makes it less popular in DCS. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk

I like Jester he is a blast lol seems kind of realistic to me complete with the star wars references. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk

+1 and occasionally for me in our case 1 trg mission Jet is hot on Cat it won't launch maybe something to do with the way it falls to the deck and then slides around a bit even hooked up tot he cat. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk

Opt in to beta it will update to the beta then opt out and it will update itself again it take a while but it worked for me when I got a corrupted install once. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk

Over Kuwait in the summer 2 big fuel tanks phimat pod TRD and 8 missiles basically the max load possible on the Aircraft filling up all the way to the brim. Yep reheat on one was required, even more fun on the kc135 using the boom drogue adapter had both in burner for a second [emoji2955] Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk

Ha I wish yep the other one from the one you used was normal tho not sure I remember it being mandated.lol. Always needed it in the gulf and while I guess it was a bit more thrust it was never enough eh . Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk

Hmmm a few thought fwiw ymmv. Limitations of the F14 DDD is vel azimuth in PD modes It has no range. The rel vel vector in the radar display is tits on a bull for a quick interpretation of the picture. BVR vs WVR calls are completely different for me just the way we always did it. Run ground stab 90% of the time, drag the marker to the middle of the intercept and HCU offset it so it's the center of the screen. Now you can just adjust the range scale to keep the picture nice. If in doubt just offset halfway between you and the target unless it's an A10 it will normally work. Now you can see the geometry I call the heading to the front seater or give him the turn "come 20 left" etc this depends on my capacity. If I am MCO then he gets the minimum, if he is good he can do the geometry while I commit my other flights on different groups it's easily done from the front seat in ground stab, just make sure to coord the radar slew if you have a big offset to get rid off. I run TWS MAN I 40 2bar as I like to shoot early and this covers enough sky as long as I have a link. Shooting 54 is academic right now untill we get a missile fix I won't even talk about that. In the visual environment I always use clock code. As an academic exercise get a buddy to fly towards you above and offset, lock him and talk your front seater through the angles above and the clock code of the tgt. It may sound a bit boring but if next time he sees a tgt he tells you it 1oclock 15up it makes your radar work way easier rather than 1oclock high hmm how high? Not sure this works in TIR but is perfect for VR. Most Aircraft you can just use the HUD degrees as a guage but the F14 is not that user friendly. I am gonna stop there before it get TLDR if it's not there already. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk

In VR unlike real life you still can't see around the NVGs to read your instruments so it's a right Royal Pain. This has been reported repeatedly over the years asking for the fov to be reduced so we can see around them to no avail. Not a Heatblur problem tho, luckily in game you can put the NVGs on a hotas button as a workaround, way quicker than pushing them up IRL. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk

Ok I like today's update but have a question what does Ct stand for , probably having a dull moment but I am not sure what the abbreviation means.
-
CB has it I will add that if you position wrong behind the tanker it does feel like a constant roll force as you enter the tankers wingtip vortices. In ACT I did have a burner blowout due to wake but I was modulating the throttle at the time so that was just unlucky. So far its all felt pretty good to me and a nice representation, way better than I ever expected we would get.

Yeah I find this kinda difficult to believe of an Aim 120c. Also the update rate is also crazy good compared to what I would expect but that is probably a DCS limitation and I would rather have that than slower. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk

While the title makes me smile with the implication that VR was better before, I do wonder if actually having done some flying makes a difference. All the pilots that I demo DCS too are always amazed (one hadn't been in an F18c for 25 years ) and that was with CV1. I would say about half went on to buy a Rift and the required computer. It is a small sample size of 3 out of 6 but a couple owned planes so ..... At the end of the day it probably comes down to the question "is your DCS priority gaming or flying" If you are a flying enthusiast then you will accept all the VR limitations because it puts you in the cockpit (DK2 was good enough to stop me using my 3 screens). If your priority is the best gaming experience then a 4k screen and TIR is the way to go. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk

I promise this will be my last 2 cents worth to this debate. Courtesy of Wags video I decided to take another look as flat screen video just doesn't work for me anymore. I did a quick flight in an F18c and in an F14B with a couple of strafe runs in each. In VR the sim has the correct feel for being in the jet, tgts and everything look right. I guess in a way you can blame yourselves for making 99% of it look so right that the 1% now appears as a glaring problem ( Like people complaining that the Hydraulics don't start up right :) ) On a standard Acoustic scored Strafe panel I could consistently score over 50% in an F3 and even scored over 70% in the Hawk with an Iron sight ( Once on a nice day ). When I fire the F14B gun the dispersion look dead on, if I mess up I would miss and if I am on target I would get a good score. When I fire the F18c gun its a mess I am not saying I can't destroy a target with it I am just saying that if I was 100% on target on an acoustic panel I would be lucky to score 40% whereas I would be looking at an 80% score in an F3. Maybe there is an F18 pilot would care to comment as I know there are a couple around here. For all I know the F18c gun really is that bad and significantly worse than the F3 ( which I will admit had a very accurate gun just not enough rounds or fire rate ) but as of right now the F18c gun in game is way worse than the F14 in game and worse than an Aden cannon bolted on to the bottom of a Hawk with an Iron sight IRL, which is why I posted this in 1st place.

I shot 2 Phoenix from the back seat today on our server no problem. Did you check the ACM guard like Spiceman said ? PS the light itself like a lot in the back is not lit properly right now a reported bug. Hold the button anyway for 2 seconds just to check it won't fire. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk

I never used target software, I had a 30 cm extension, it just has too hard a center notch. If I was in a normal trim aircraft I would deliberately fly out of trim so I could be smooth and keep it out of the center notch, but that is very unnatural. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk

It works for me without a track it's hard to say. Do you have a hot trigger light in the front cockpit? Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk

Pilot / RIO radio responsibility in RL question
WindyTX replied to Roadrunner's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Yep our Backseaters did all the BVR calls and the tactics stuff after chatting to the front depending on the cockpit gradient. Pilots all flew SOPs so there was nothing to say until you were getting into the visual arena. On some ops it was completely silent procedures which was fun but obviously took a lot of training Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk -
Ha this is an interesting question the black marks are where civil aircraft land military fast jets land at the threshold and while it may not help with you passing a specific mission it's is something to note. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk

Sorry overlapped with Spicemans answer but my thoughts fwiw which are kinda similar to Spicemans. At the moment as mentioned earlier the missile is active off the rail. This makes following it in irelavant you are just increasing your own risk. Spicemans shot at 40 to 50 nm is optimising the Rsep and in real life with a properly modelled missile you will have either shot or missed before even getting inside the targets kill range. You can set up a grinder with a wingman and never let anything inside the tgts kill zone especially with the link. Your 20 nm shots are not optimising the missiles capability and following it in puts you at risk. However it's way more fun good at practicing your crew co operation and your radar work rather similar to the profile I do on our training server as you get way more training out of it. Keeping the radar on a target that is manouvering inside 20 nm is way more work if you are in tws manual. Or even working in pulse after a tgt beams you and you are not below him enough. You just need to bear in mind that these are high risk manouvers that in reality you may not want to do. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk

That tactic was for a non RDR tgt. If it's got a Radar and is clever the Phoenix is a big heavy missile and can be defeated in the final stages by manoeuvre. However IRL and in game the Rsep ( distance between you and the target at missile intercept can be enormous). The obvious thing to do is to fire the missile and Run away don't close at all and see if you get a hit especially as the missile is active off the rail. If I dont want to die I will never close within Aim120 kill zone as I don't need to, fire at the right range and I may get lucky and will never die. This is tedious at the best of times and why personally I prefer a semi active war as you have to close with the target and often end up in a visual fight. At the end of the day it's a game if you die occasionally does it really matter if you had fun. I was RIO vs a buddy on our training server , he defeated 6 Aim 154 in a row one a dual launch and he defeated the second with a last ditch vertical and he killed us a lot with a late Super 530 missile. His radar work was excellent and we closed with him it was good trg for all. For real I would never have closed within his kill zone but that would have been boring. Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk
