Please add the famous Harrier spool down sound
Marsvinet replied to 104th_Maverick's topic in AV-8B N/A
I pre-purchased the Harrier and I have been flying it constantly since then. It is pretty much my main module at this point. -
I'd not call them useless. I use them to great effect, I would even go as far as to say they are my main weapons on the Harrier. They just require you to adapt your runs to how they work. My two main ways to use Mk20s is do a low level, high speed run or 35~45deg dive with a long spread. For low level, find a target from far away or pre-plan it, then come in at ~500 knots, 200ft AGL and release 2xMk20 with 30ft interval in CCIP mode. This works well against anything well protected. The dive attack I use basically the same weapons setup, meaning 2xMk20s, 30~40ft interval but drop in AUTO instead. This of course, requires the target to be less defended, like only Shilkas and ZSU-23-2s, but it focuses the bomblets and lets you hit much harder. The main thing here is that I drop more than one on anything that has more armour than a truck and I use the bomb interval to compensate for any errors in the bombing solution. This leads to me killing most things I aim at. But T-90s will always be hard with cluster. You need 2 very good hits to take them down.

I know, right?! I actually think they are doing a good job after their dark age! It's like seeing a unicorn! Oh I lost my hat. Mainly at the simplicity part. Too broad strokes for my taste. And what I said has been cooking for a long time now. Guess you just got unlucky that I could not be arsed to hold back. You are operating off the exact same facts as me. The difference is that you are seem to be seeing everything negative and i'm trying to see it positive (I'd argue neither of us are the realist in this case). I just want to see the Harrier become the best it can be, all systems implemented in as much detail as it can have. You want the same thing. I just try and keep negativity down around here by sharing the information I have whenever somebody asks. As for abuse, I'll stick with what I said. I meant abuse towards Razbam, not me. You're nowhere near where Viper was. What he was doing was just horrendous. But you're constantly around here, belittling Razbam whenever there is a chance. Yes, you are right about what is not implemented, there is a lot, but the constant "reminders" are most probably not changing anything nor helping discussion and progress. Everybody has the right to their opinion. Just chill on the constant reminders. For everybodys sake. (I'd also call you a rivet counter, the natops thing pretty much what a rivet counter does) But whatever we try and write here means jack shit, because the only ones who actually can say anything is Razbam themselves. But they could definitely be more active with their bug reports. It is very confusing around there. -

Oh for the love of whatever god you like. You are starting to look like ol' Viper around here. Yes, the solenoid is missing, but why assume they are not going to implement it with the new soundpack? Give Razbam some faith instead of calling the community superficial because you do not know what Razbam are doing. Not everybody is a rivet counter and if you are a rivet counter, just chill out about it all. For the record, i'm very much a rivet counter myself, at least when it comes to the Harrier. Razbam has been on the right path for a while, so let them do continue their good work without your abuse. -

They have stated that it will be added with the new soundpack that is being developed. It is even on the bugtracker. -
As Kengou said, you can use the DSL mode. It is a backup and it is not implemented, except that it can be selected and release bombs with it without restrictions. With this it skirts around the limitation of CCIP that the pipper has to visible on the HUD. So with DSL mode you can "kentucky windage" the bomb. Or use for manual lofting.

Receiving lift only from the nozzles and not from the wings. Basically the stages of hover and slow movements with nozzles down. Compared to semi-jetborne where the wings start to provide a little lift, but the nozzles still do the major work. Then you end up in wingborne flight as speed increases.
-
If I remember correctly, that is a limitation in the actual Harrier. The Maverick video is physically only wired to the left screen and can therefore only be used there. I do not know if it is written in any of the manuals, but I suspect it is.

Yep. Alpenwolfs server is where the Viggen really shines. I mainly fly the Viggen on this server, though when we Viggen pilots chat, it tends to be in swedish. Sadly, to coordinate strikes, you kinda need to join with friends. There is not much random join-up happening. Unless you're swedish and flying the Viggen. Have flown in some 4-stacks of random swedish dudes in the Viggen.

It is a known issue that the sensor head wont stow properly. The model just really like to look at the front gear wheel.
-
Please describe how it does not work. There are a few things that are funky with the Mavericks, but it can also be simple user error.
-
Yes, there is a HTS mode for the TPOD. You can enter it by pressing sensor select down twice within 0.8 seconds (Note that it is down and not aft). In this mode, the sensor select switch controls various things for the TPOD. I recommend you read the relevant parts in the pocket guide for the HOTAS commands, since it can be a bit much for a comment. The only thing missing is zoom, but that is fixed with some "abstractions" for simplicity.

What's the best anti torque pedals for a heli sim these days?
Marsvinet replied to d0ppler's topic in DCS: UH-1H
I can second the VKB T-rudder Mk.IV pedals. I have used them for, like, 3.5 years at this point? They are excellent for helicopters which is why I bought them. They are precise and quite small, so they fit everywhere. Downside is of course the lack of toe brakes, but if your focus is helicopters, then they are perfect. -
Well, if you've read stuff on the forums, you can see that Zeus has been doing some general bugfixing. That will most probably be in. If there is anything else, well, we'll see when the patch drops.

The NATOPS is safe-isch to download. I'm not a lawyer or anything so I might not be the person to trust on that. But I have most parts of it and as far as I know, i'm not in trouble. The NATOPS can work as a manual, except it tends to cover way more than you need in a sim. But it still has very good information, such as what problem every single caution light can represent or how to toss-bomb a GBU-16 the manual way. All of the proper procedures outside of some weapons deliveries can be found in it. So it is very much useful if you want to go in a bit deeper. But as noted above, Baltic Dragon is making a proper module manual. They have kinda slacked off for a while with the Harrier, that's why there is not one yet, but it is getting better.
-
Yes, it has not been fixed for ages. But quite recently, DECOY stated on a bug report regarding this matter that it was solved. It did still need testing, but hopefully it is solved and released in the next update.
-
Problem is that you have no waypoints set for the plane. This is supposed to be fixed now, but has not been released yet. Try adding a waypoint for the plane in the mission creator/planner or ask whoever made the mission. That is the current workaround.

Harrier flight Ops from the Admiral Kuznetsov
Marsvinet replied to irfanahmed1979's topic in AV-8B N/A
There are two modes to the NWS. Anti-skid and NWS. Anti-skid mode is what you describe, where holding the NWS button activates the steering and when you release the button the nose wheel goes into free caster. This mode is what you would use on airfields for any landing that is not straight down. The second NWS mode is NWS aka anti-skid is off. In this mode, NWS is always activated and holding the NWS button enables the high gain mode, which is shown in the HUD. This way you can get a tighter turn. This is the mode you use on ships. The switch for this is on the left side, near the flaps and water switches. -
Tunguska (SA-19) has two weapons, an optically guided missile that gives no warnings at all or a pair of 30mm radar guided guns. If it fires its missiles at you, there won't be any warnings unless you can see it, but it has shit performance so light manouvering will solve that. For guns I'm not certain if it always has the radar on. But the radar signature is shown as "S6" instead of "19" as one would expect. In general, you should not get anywhere close to where a Tunguska is hiding. Those ****ers are nasty if you do not know EXACTLY where they are.

Oh yeah, completly forgot about target designation. I have vague memories of holding down the TDC action keybind to slew the DMT faster. I might be going mad or i'm confusing it with some other module.
-
Same page as the low alt warning. When you press ALT on the UFC, one of the ODU options is GPWS. Press that ODU button (removing the ":" next to it) to disable the pull up warnings for 20 or 30 minutes, cannot remember which.
-
Slewing TDC in INS is not implemented yet. The TDC action is to simulate pushing down the slew control, kinda like the ministick on a PS/XBOX controller. The one purpose I can say right now is that it lets you slew much faster. But I also think it has purposes for when to set a target and such. I have to read the manual on that again.

A standard "redfor" skin would really be useful. Especially for servers with a limited plane set, missing IFF and such. Visual is the best way to see if you're about to shove a sidewinder up a bad guys tail pipe. Just a simple Yak-38 like skin would be good.
-
Yup, it is most probably the INS. In special options, there is a field where you can select to have your INS pre-aligned. Select that if you don't want to wait for it.

You can modifly the ALE-47 file somewhere in the games directory to change the default programs. This will reset every time the game is updated, but with something like JGSME you can create a "mod" that fixes it each update. I can send my modification if you want it. For Dee-Jay, some people like me find it easier to spam the button. Might not be as effective as a program, but with the limited amounts the Viper has, it can help.
