  1. I see PC Gamer also gave A-10C sim of the year. Nice work ED. Look forward to the future and the upcoming DCS jet fighter. Thanks
  2. You guys both did that to the rest of us about 5 pages ago lol. Very nice of you guys to give your ideas.

    GTR 3

    That's dead sexy!
  5. In FC3, I would like to see a hi-fidelity F-18 done to the level of DCS:A-10C. That we would be cool. Oh, wait... So sorry everyone. I could not resist :devil_2:
  6. I don't agree with that line of thought. Why not just have ED put out a first person shooter. They will pickup a lot more customers than even a WWII flight sim. Lots of WWII flight sims to choose from. The last Hi Fidelity study sim for a modern jet fighter AFAIK came out in 1999. Again, it was a triumph that ED released A-10C, considering Janes A-10 was cancelled. I have to believe that as well as profit, the reason for ED's existence is the love of flight sims. So, we know they are working on multiple projects in parallel. I hope they do well with the P-51D and beyond, but I hope the main focus remains Jet sims. Now... I will go fly a P-51D in FSX, IL2 1946 and then a BF-109 in IL2 COD while I wait :)
  7. Awesome work. Wish it was commercially available. Dream stick
  8. lol! Well, when you put it that way... not the end of the world. You sir, are a true optimist, the glass is half full
  9. That's a troll statement. Black Shark is the most advanced helo sim ever released for the PC by many measures.
  10. In the world of business, it doesn't matter what you did in the past, how big you became, etc. What matters is that you remain profitable today. Look at Kodak, Atari, Acclaim Entertainment, Sega, 3dfx etc. Anyway, that is a bit off topic. In the end I hope for ED to do well at what ever it decides to do, even if releases are not to my personal taste.
  11. Yes, we don't know all the business reasons ED may have to do what they need to do. I have said that before in other posts, and you are right, people need patience for this sort of thing. At the same time, what ever parallel work you can pull off, there will still be aspects of a release that will have to go through bottlenecks in ED's processes for releasing a game. I may not know their business inside out, but I am qualified to talk about running small to large businesses. Since you mention it, it is part of my career. In the end, regardless no matter how legit, waiting for something while other things are released can be a letdown.
  12. The problem... we all have preferences and as it was said, the market is bigger than any one person's preferences, but some of us have been flying Lock On for a long time and we are modern jet fans, plain and simple. We have waited through FC1, A-10C, Ka-50 and FC2, now we must wait through FC3, Combined Arms, and P-51D before we see a DCS Jet fighter. While parallel tasking makes sense, for a small team such as ED some of their effort is going into these things before the next jet and for some of us, that blows big time. We are also the fans that help put ED where they are now. In the end we want ED to succeed at whatever they do, but it the waiting for a jet sim fan is disappointing to some of us.
  13. Ahh... you just want the P-51D so you have an excuse to use those niftty goggles and hat you have in your avatar :pilotfly:
  14. When you have someone crashing your server, there is no point, you are forced to close it down. That is what we have done with the 104th FC2 server.
  15. Not slowed release for DCS:Jet Fighter? I think that is the problem. If the next fighter was already released there wouldn't be such the outcry here about a P-51. Whether P-51 slows down DCS:Jetfighter or not, the fact remains we are looking at Combined Arms, P-51D, FC3 all being released before DCS:Jetfighter, and that is a bitter pill to swallow for some of us. No A2A with a DCS:Jet and FC3 with the same core as Lock On 2003. I hate to repeat this view, but it appears it needs repeating. All of us fans that have bought every ED product up till now since Su-27 Flanker, some of us are disappointed.
  16. Damn vast majority! They always blow it for us ;)
  17. Sorry, don't mean to be negative. There is no doubt that this has hurt FC2 though. I understand why though, with FC3 close, that efforts to fix this in FC2 may not be the best way to go about things currently.
  18. Yes, all good points, but IMO The same opinion expressed by more than one person gives that opinion greater merit and weight. The chances of being heard are greater. Get a DCS JetFighter out the door first, so that there is such an aircraft available now in the DCS environment. Right now, there is only A2G. Then, do projects like this to make money. Talk about parallel development all you want, maybe in programming, but not in the other areas of business, marketing, sales etc. Many of these areas I bet ED do one at a time, and to have all this other stuff, Combined Arms, FC3, P-51 come out first blows chunks :) Of course, for all I know, ED NEEDS to do these things first, and there is no other way around it. That is what we are forgetting. They are a business and we will never know all they need to do.
  19. Why not DCS:Fighter Jet with arcade mode. Would that not satisfy the same customer base as well as the 'hard core'?
  20. Then I guess A2A combat with ED sims is dead right now, until FC3 comes out.
  21. That was a great movie!
  22. LOL It should also be said that many FC2 servers are down right now due to hacking and it does not look things will change until FC3 is released. So, you fans of Modern Air Combat, please don't hold your breath for now.
  23. Why deny people their chance to voice their opinion?! If you don't like it, ignore it, or post your opinion to debate the topic. Now my opinion. I hope ED does well with this P-51D, but, I already am playing a full scale WWII flight simulator that is excellent called IL-2 COD. I have no want or desire to wait for this P-51. We have a Ka-50 and A-10C in DCS which is great, but no proper A2A jet fighter. It is on the bottom of the priority list. DCS multiplayer is not fully realized because of this, and it suffers for it. FC2 has been hacked, and a stop gap of FC3 is planned before we see a jet fighter. DCS multiplayer is hurting, big time. We have been waitng for a DCS jet fighter since it was announced, and it looks like it may be many, many years before it is released. It seems squarely at the bottom of the priority list. As a dedicated fan, one that has helped put ED where they are now from buying the excellent work they have done up to now, I feel a little bit ignored and left out in the cold. I understand this is a business, and you must do what is needed to SELL, period, but alienating your fanbase is perhaps not a great thing. Ka-50 and A-10C are not exactly the sexy machines that people think of when it comes to aircombat, yet they were released. Mostly due it was said to there being existing contracts with the military. It was even glorified that the A-10 got a full release in this day and age, even after Janes' A-10 got cancelled. A underdog project that finally got to see the light of day for us, the fans and lovers of flight simulations. Now we can't get a Jet Fighter because perhaps it was thought a P-51 would sell better. For those of us that have supported ED all these years, it can be frustrating. Again, I wish nothing but the best for this P-51D and all of ED products. There are too few flight simulation companies and I am glad ED continues on!
