Ground vehicle loop? Any ideas?
MadTommy replied to MadTommy's topic in User Created Missions General
If anyone fits the bill of 'creative folk', Grimes you sir fit the bill! I'll have a look at the demo, as admittedly on 1st read i'm not quite following this. Thanks a lot. (rep inbound) edit: oh ffs.. i can't give you rep.. this is the 3rd time in the last 48hrs to 3 different people.. why is it always the same people i want to rep :) EDIT2: Looking at the demo did not initially help.. but when i recreated it and saw that the SE, SW, NE, NW templates were built into the editor the light went on! Great find.. i now have fire trucks etc patrolling my airfield. :) One thing that i could not workout was how to get more than one vehicle to move.. as when there were more than two vehicle in the group.. only one would move. So i simply added more two vehicle groups. -
I know there is no default way to set ground vehicles to do a continuous loop between waypoints. I also know there are lots of creative folk and often a little lateral thinking can get around this type of restriction.. So has anyone figured a workaround method to get vehicles to to travel is a loop type fashion? At the minute the only way is to set a lot of waypoints.. is there a better way? Thanks

How to determine MH/DIS from bullseye to targets
MadTommy replied to dvbuljan's topic in User Created Missions General
I used this system without issue. But you need to be aware offset Bulls locations are not that accurate. But using the above system i've had no issue finding the target. -
MP Difficulty: EASY, MEDIUM, HARD, REAL
MadTommy replied to Panzertard's topic in Multiplayer Server Administration
I agree, but i think it is up to the server to set the Settings Difficulty. So my missions will include: I won't lock any settings in my missions.. i think it is draconian, and should be up the the server host what settings they run. I suggest the Server Settings is in the Server Title not mission description. e.g -

wow, just wow, thanks for the heads up.. now that is an odd discussion. Maybe a chair would have helped get your point across. :chair: -
MP Difficulty: EASY, MEDIUM, HARD, REAL
MadTommy replied to Panzertard's topic in Multiplayer Server Administration
I only have one question, and that is why? I'm curious, but i think this is going off topic. On topic: The above difficulty levels pointed out by Panzer only refer to Settings level of difficulty but give no indication of Mission level difficulty. You could very easily have a server running Medium or even Easy that was very very difficult, simply through the level of SAM threats for example. Padlock views, labels & easy avionics might help but it would stop you getting killed by insanely difficult mission design. So the above should be categorised a Mission Setting Level, not difficulty. I think it is helpful, but a novice pilot could easily have a lot of fun joining a server on Hard Settings that was running a mission with a low threat level. So the above could easily be very misleading for new comers. -
MP Difficulty: EASY, MEDIUM, HARD, REAL
MadTommy replied to Panzertard's topic in Multiplayer Server Administration
I completely agree, but i don't think anyone is trying divide the community or that these decisions will have that effect. Just folk with different opinions. I assume the purpose was to help people know what environment restrictions a server is running. I've never understood enforcing settings like views, label & map options. -
MP Difficulty: EASY, MEDIUM, HARD, REAL
MadTommy replied to Panzertard's topic in Multiplayer Server Administration
There does not seem to be any real difference Hard & Real from my point of view, unless I'm missing something. Map options, seeing allies only on or off, seems irrelevant considering the capabilities of the of the datalink & TAD. External views, well considering 99% of missions are coop and I assume most like me use it rarely just to get some eye candy, I can't see how it is important or changes the difficulty of a mission. But if some like it enforced, fair enough. If people want to use F7 not find targets, well their loss i suppose, doesn't affect my game or enjoyment. Personally i don't like to lock any options in my missions or server.. if someone wants to use labels or some other aid that's up to them. it does not deter from my enjoyment in any way. I play Real/Hard, DCS is like golf for me.. its me against the course not me against other players! ;) -
It depends on how they are made. Planes can be set to either Client, meaning its a MP slot or Player, a single player plane. However the Player plane acts the same as a Client in MP, so i always make my MP missions with one plane set to Player...so they can be flown as either MP or SP. i suggest if it is not clear from the description.. download them and try them. Missions are only small, so not much to loose.

Race track works between the waypoint that you set as orbit / racetrack and the next waypoint. So if the waypoint after the orbit / racetrack waypoint is 500km away.. the racetrack will be 500Km long! Makes it very flexible.

DCS:ME Survival Upgrade Pack
MadTommy replied to Panzertard's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
:) Just been putting this through its paces.. this with cloned triggers has just decreased the time to make my missions tenfold... now i just need a monkey to do the rest for me! It took me more time than it should to grasp the system for pasting.. at 1st i thought it placed them randomly and the measure tool was a side effect bug.. once i realise what was going on made life a lot easier.. genius mate! I've no issues with statics yet.. been copying & pasting then quite a bit. -
Having a tough time with my navigation "test"
MadTommy replied to Conure's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
On the WP screen of the CDU, press the right FSK button with a number and question mark by it.. something like 1? or 4? (3rd one down from memory) This will copy the previous waypoint effectively giving you a new waypoint to write. Do this before entering the coordinates. This is the step you are missing. -
This was reported during the beta phase.. i thought was fixed :( http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=68520

nedd an advice on a new stick
MadTommy replied to SilentBob's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I can only speak from my experience... get a Saitek X52pro. Its complexity seems just right for DCS, has enough switches, rotaries & hats without having too many! But that is subjective. It is quite expensive, but i get the feeling well price compared to other HOTAS. It is also well tried & tested.. getting much admiration from its users. Build quality is good imo. Hog HOTAS is too expensive for my taste.... -

I've just tried this but i'm noticing no difference?? I did as the 1st post suggested.. options.ua from saved games folder: ["clutterMaxDistance"] = 2500, -- 500 And terrain.cfg.lua from Bazar\Terrain smallshit = { heightMapSize = 512; files = { { name = "grass"; texture = "SmallShit_Grass.dds"; slope = 0.8; slopeDelta = 0.3; layers = { { squareSize = 40.0; -- original 200 scale = 1.2; }, { squareSize = 12.0; -- original 60 } }; } Am i missing something?? :helpsmilie:

Threat Guide - Weapon Info, RWR symbols, Images etc.
MadTommy replied to MadTommy's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
^^ lol i was gonna say.. Hey how about me! :D The threat guide is solely for ground threats, so it only cover ground threat RWR symbols. The diamond & chevron symbols refer to air threats.. I'm rusty on these since giving up FC2.. but here is an extract from the Flaming Cliffs manual.. how acruate it is for A10c i'm not 100% sure..but should still be prudent. and.. -

Stumbling upon a unseen IR launcher is a real nightmare, as you've experienced, and paulrkiii has said they are not delectable by the RWR prior to a launch. Large amounts of flares and aggressive manoeuvres are your only hope in this scenario. Often the only way to avoid this scenario is to fly above their threat range. IR threats have low / short threat ranges, when flying high(ish), say 13,000 feet or so you are out of range of most of these and if you do get launched at they are fairly easy to defeat, through turning away and climbing while releasing flares. If you believe there is a signification strela / igla threat in an area... fly high! _________________________________ EDIT: there is a threat guide i made ..http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=68182 Should help you some.

DCS Server Provision - A Roadmap:
MadTommy replied to 159th_Viper's topic in Multiplayer Server Administration
At T&T we seem to like and run missions that are non time constrained. I'm struggling somewhat to think of a concise tile for the missions we tend to run, so i'll describe them and please suggest how to title them! As i'm the mission maker for us what we tend to run is as follows: Non time constrained CAS scenarios where events & tasks are triggered by clients being in an area & the previous task being accomplished. It does not matter if you spend 30 minutes on the taxiway or spend an hour completing the previous task. We also like to utilise as many features as possible; tankers, awacs, afac, jtac etc. So if you want to practice tanker refueling or jtac utilisation you can stop doing the present task as go off and do these. It tends to be a whole mixture of scripted taskings, freeflight & practice all rolled into one scenario. Missions are also always 'random' meaning the fluff, threats & tasks are always generated via triggers so the same mission has a number of version in one mission file. (normally 16 possible scenarios) I try and make them fun for all skill levels.. not complete beginners but something for everyone. This is the kind of mission we will normally be running. How to name it so the public understand.. god knowns! Suggestions very welcome!
