Tactics for flying the Mig-15 Against later cold war planes.
oreste replied to MadMaxNZ's topic in DCS: MiG-15bis
My opinion is that the mig 15 compared to a Saber is better in vertical maneuvers, loops, Immelman especially using the aerodynamic brakes which apparently allow you to maneuver tighter. I would avoid escaping with a long dive where you would risk losing buoyancy due to Mach phenomena, the Saber is faster and is not subject to these problems. I would use the machine guns and cannon only at short range, however I would try to shoot close up with the machine guns too and make good use of the scope which needs practice. While with a Saber equipped with six .50 cals he can successfully attempt even difficult shots in deflection with the Mig perhaps it is better to wait for a better opportunity where even a few shots are still effective given the greater caliber. I advise before going into combat to practice a lot of aerobatic maneuvers especially at very low speeds or high altitudes and use the aerodynamic brakes to sharpen the turns. -
At this link I found some data about the cannon, it also talks about other models or major calibers but a paragraph describes the results of the test on a type of 37 mm ammunition. I report the paragraph, I think it's a translation but I attach the link so you can read the original version. I quote a part: ”In 1949, three prototypes B14-113 were produced and tests began at the factory. The ammunition of the gun included only one type of projectile - a high-explosive fragmentation incendiary tracer (OFZT), created at TsNII-58. During firing on the ground, the 37mm OFZT projectile showed good results. At a distance of 600m, the deviation from the vertical was 0.17m, and the lateral deviation was 0.16m.The tracking range was 1100m. According to the commission, when an OFZT shell hit a Pe-2 bomber, it was guaranteed to disable it." Now I can't say whether or not it confirms her doubts but she was looking for some data and I, who am also a Mig 15 enthusiast, wanted to do a search. Personally I believe that a weapon whose barrel is shortened, the power of the launch charge is dampened will have poor characteristics both in terms of accuracy and power but we must consider that the target is generally a large bomber at close range. I don't think you can shoot from a certain distance, I imagine that the bullet will have a curved trajectory given the weight and low muzzle speed. It would be tough to hit from a distance with very arched shots so you shoot up close and accuracy doesn't matter much at that point, I wouldn't worry too much. Greetings and good hunting. http://www.airwar.ru/weapon/guns/n-37.html

DCS: MiG-25RBT Mod Announcement
oreste replied to cosmicdoubloon's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Perhaps, we really need an aircraft like the Mig 25 capable of flying at 20,000 meters and reaching a top speed of Mach 2.83. It would be a strong opponent against the F 15 C/E or F 14 . I can understand that they cannot develop the Mig 31 but the Mig 25 has nothing secret anymore, everyone knows the story of the Russian pilot's defection with a Mig 25 at the time of the cold war. It has also not been used for many years . If I was able to create a mod I think I would do that or a vertical take-off aircraft like Yak 141 or Yak 38. -
From me I only receive the answers as text, as audio I only hear the voice of the pilot that is mine. Sometimes the voice of pilots from other groups can be heard reaching the waypoint but the control tower has lost its voice.
-
I often have an audio communication problem, the answers appear as text at the top in the usual position but I can only hear the pilot's voice, not that of the control tower. I went into the options to see if by chance I hadn't selected the audio on the headphones but both output and input are correctly selected. I also tried selecting the option that sends audio to the rider as an in-helmet audio effect but that didn't fix the problem either. In any case it doesn't always happen, if someone has to give me advice I thank him in advance. Ps: I always turn the volume up on the radio and make sure I've selected the right frequency.

There are many weapons or subjects in the encyclopedia that have no description, even a summary description would be welcome. Alternatively allow the player to be able to personally put a note.
-
Very interesting this thing, at this point a high altitude flight that would normally be convenient to save fuel could become inconvenient due to the winds and force you to descend. Or in this case the weapons of the CBU 105 type with wind correction would become more 'appreciated despite they cost a bit more ^^

If you say it is too much to calculate low altitude or mountain crest turbulence then so is wake turbulence. They gave us wake turbulence and now we wonder if we can also have other types of effects, it was obvious that would happen I hope so much, especially the currents that form near the crests of the mountains and at very low altitudes.

I have heard of a plane that had flown at a high altitude and then on the ground started to form ice on the wings on a very hot day...the fuel tanks still loaded with very cold fuel had chilled the wings.

Japanese aircraft cockpits, some photos and descriptions
oreste replied to oreste's topic in Pacific Theatre
Thank you for the comment, they are magazines from the 70s and I'm happy to know that they could be useful, if I find other documents I will add them to the post, have a nice flight everyone. -
A while ago I read in a post that they were looking for photos or any data that could help reproduce Japanese planes from the Second World War. I hope that these magazines can be of help or, if they are already known data, at least be of interest to other enthusiasts. I would very much like to be able to create a sea with strong winds and high waves, weather conditions that would put a strain on a landing on the aircraft carrier or make it impossible. I would also like to see the effect of a plane or a helicopter flying low over the sea, the waves it produces. We can see a similar effect on the ground, a lot of dust is raised by the helicopters, the effect of gunfire on the water is also very nice to see.
-
I have noticed that you can fly at high altitude even without the help of oxygen, no negative effects.
-
Ah, maybe I didn't understand what you meant, in any case I seem to have read in a manual that the Snap roll was a prohibited maneuver with the P 47. I don't know about you but I don't want to subject the plane to excessive strain, and sturdy but also very heavy.
-
Here is an example of how the colors blue and green were used in the original manual of the P 51 D and K.
-
You have to try to fly at over 10,000 meters or 30,000 ft, where the Spitfire can't take it anymore. The P 47 was designed to fly even at those altitudes, its wing area is larger and the engine is boosted too. Perhaps at lower altitudes it may even seem super but at those altitudes he too struggles and only thanks to his muscles that he can fly. In any case, its weight over double that of a Spitfire makes itself felt and it loses the desire to dance.

I confirm that I have had problems with the speed indicator. I also thought about freezing or a high speed effect, it happened when I went down from 15000 ft. It also indicated the reverse speed, that is, going up in altitude it increased and down it decreased ... contrary to how it should be. In some cases it dropped to zero ft and then resumed working at very low altitudes. All this happened to me towards the end of a long journey, in fact I consumed an entire external tank and half of the internal fuel, almost all of the map from south to north. I would add that I did not subject the plane to particular efforts or acrobatics but I traveled all the way at a cruising speed, average altitudes between 10000 and 20,000. Air temperature in the carburetors always very low, the turbo rarely activated I traveled with the intercooler closed and oil cooling on neutral Obviously I checked several times if the pitot tube was activated, I admit that I only turned it on after a while I was in flight. I hope my testimony will be useful to you, good continuation.

Speaking of the cannon, or rather the two cannons, don't worry they are 30 mm and they do their job well.If you want to read something about ammunition here is a link http://www.russianammo.org/Russian_Ammunition_Page_30mm.html

What's wrong with the Jug, why so little interest ?
oreste replied to Hueyman's topic in DCS: P-47 Thunderbolt
Thanks guys for your comments, we try to support the work of these developers. Mine was an emotional outlet, it had saddened me and also worried the topic of this post. Please take a ride in the snow-capped mountains with the P 47 :) -
I wanted to ask about the colors used in the two instruments: rev counter and manifold pressure indicator. There are two zones in both instruments: blue zone and green zone, they should indicate what is recommended for cruising and for normal power So while cruising we have a lower pressure in the blue band between 30 and 35 but in the rev counter instrument I find the highest revs in the blue band, it is not correct in my opinion. In my opinion, in the rev counter you have inverted the colors while in the pressure gauge they are right.I have always seen advice for cruising: low pressure and low rpm while when you want to give power you use high pressure and high rpm, at least beyond 2300.If we give power with a lower number of revolutions we ruin the engine or at least we overheat it.

I noticed that you must always correct the longitudinal attitude of the plane in order not to fly skidding, I intend to keep the ball in the center. Every time you accelerate or change turns or dive, the plane changes attitude and the ball runs to the right or left, which means that the bullets, rockets and bombs will go in the wrong direction, be aware of this before shooting. The ball in the center and then shoot. I can't imagine what the situation would be like in this regard if the plane had a smaller tail, the powerful engine and the very bulky quad propeller involves very large torsional torque that causes the plane to skid Conversely, in less powerful propeller aircraft this fact is less noticeable.

The truth is that there is a war going on: analog versus digital, young guys don't like everything that smacks of digital, hands, buttons or propellers. They were born in a period of strong technological changes, miniaturized telephones ... a square of silicon there are a million and a half of transistors !! Today we talk about how to overcome the speed of light not the sound barrier and young people want to ride ships that travel between worlds, between the stars. Airplanes like the P 47 are only for "guys" like us of 40/50 years old or more :) .. but we are not few and our admiration is genuine, if you continue to make them we will buy them. -
Without a doubt, it is a module that I would like to have, I spent many hours of flight on FSX with a model of F111 ... of course the simulation level was much lower than that of the F 14 on dcs. hands on all those buttons, power, engines, navigation system and indicators for altitude, speed etc all in front of you..wow.Maybe a dream is coming true, I cross my fingers !!

I can't wait to be able to tinker with the external tanks of the P 47 and have a nice take off at maximum weight.Yes, I also hope nice skins and the functionality of water injection in the cylinders ... yes :) -
I have read your difficulty, in my opinion you should do the same mission with better visibility several times. When you feel safe and have acquired a certain familiarity and feeling of the times and the various maneuvers move on to the next mission that is add less visibility. (Gradually ) You will see that everything will be fine because by now you have learned the maneuver, I am not saying that you can do it with your eyes closed but .. almost.
