Raid 0 breaks easier from personal experience,.. -
DCS Performance, FPS Drops and Stuttering
FragBum replied to betatrash's topic in Game Performance Bugs
DCS will happily use 12GB+ RAM and 10GB+ VRAM in MP,.. :) -
^ Yeah maybe even better CPU first. DCS really likes fast cores, fast GPU's and fast RAM.

DCS Performance, FPS Drops and Stuttering

Again in my observations yes DCS might run 2 threads but Windows is utilizing more CPU usage and DCS is also indicating more CPU usage in Task Manager since recent Windows/Rift/DCS updates. I am not claiming DCS is "more multi-threaded" but it seems Windows is able to utilize more CPU usage. As for HDD/SSD usage with 32GB of system RAM and 1080Ti/2080Ti I really don't see any harddrive/pagefile usage above the occasional 1% periodically in game SP or MP which is more likely the OS doing it's housekeeping thing. :) -

2GB of VRAM would do it,.. :D Yeah waiting to see what Razen 3000 and Navi bring to the table too. -

Whilst I fly VR DCS 2.5 stable, I still don't see that issue. Could it be your hardware/software/settings causing an issue? -
In my observation RAM speed helps DCS Rift VR, no doubt. So to CPU and GPU. If you have 32GB just let Windows manage the pagefile in my experience pagefile reads/writes are minimal during DCS play with 32GB. You might need to look at hardware/drivers/overclocking if you are getting regular crashes, I have been on DCS stable version since I built this rig and so far DCS has been rock solid stable and flyable.
-
Nah I have seen many odd places in DCS if I crash just right. I have fell through the DCS world ocean and into space. :D

Here you go Mr_Burns. Here's the switch body overall about 82mm or 3 1/4" The front mounting plate is about 48mm or 1 7/8" The switch does rotate paste 360 deg with 90 deg stops, however in it's supplied configuration it is 1 in 3 positions connect with an off in the 4th position with 2 poles. It does have a "mild" industrial feel about it in that you know you've turned the switch to the next position, just saying. HTH

For me I find PD of 1.2 and MSAA at 4 to look okay but the lower PD will allow you to keep a good solid 45FPS. Especially in the PG map, that map is a CPU/GPU resource hog. The other things I do is pretty much disable all the nVidia processing as well I disable effectively Rifts own anti-aliasing this frees up some CPU and GPU resources. Just for giggles I have a free flight mission in NTTR starts at Tonopah test range and in Gazelle that is a solid 90FPS anywhere which is good to test and tune settings. Alas shiny new CPU and all, and yet as far as I can see the CPU is the bottleneck in performance.
-
Although shadows are very useful or bad as they help to give away opponents location just as in real life.
-
@Harlikwin In NTTR away from Las Vegas you should get 90FPS happily on the ground in Gazelle, I run PD 1.2 and MSAA @ 4. Caucasus depends where you are 45~90 PG good luck, Normandy eats even more CPU usage. What CPU and GPU usage are you seeing?

Your network should work fine fine. Have you set the net mask to 255.255.255.0 Have you. Enable network sharing Enable network discovery Set network profile to private Disabled DHCP in your modem/router or at least set a DHCP range of say 192.168.0.200 to 162.168.0.220? Use a CMD (command line) and use the ping utility to check connectivity.

@ Mr_Burns. I'll let you know when mine arrives. :) My rotary encoders turned up and I have the decoder prototype up and running and about ready to interface it to the Leo Bodnar USB. And yes I'm decoding separately which gives me a few options over having the USB interface decode it. The encoder HRPG-ASCA#54R 120CPS, they are a tad expensive but worth it I think. Prototype Decoder.
-
But.,, you should be able to crack 90FPS in Nevada and Caucasus away from built up areas I find the other maps to be more CPU resource hungry. ;) Is it worth it? Yes, is it value for money, no. :D CPU clock and RAM speed also help for me with Rift. YMMV

There is a soft liner material which improves the grip on surfaces like floors etc might help for you. This is what I use for the very same reason.
-
Great to see you updated your rig,.

Same here happy to help for the guys downunder may help with time zones etc.

I'm just setting up my VR sim pit and rather then a modelled pit I've gone the generic and more to the point ergonomic route. If you know where the buttons and controls are it doesn't really break the immersion as I don't look at the controls as such unless I'm using mouse but that still works. :)
-
I use itunes streaming from a server via ethernet it has very little impact if any on DCS.
-
Well it does work I just tested it in the minigun version. The thing is in Alt mode it will attempt to maintain altitude however you as the pilot still need to control yaw and roll, you can adjust altitude by cyclic and if you level off it should hold the new altitude. Turn on the controls indicator to get a feel for how it interacts with input. In that regard it is more of an assist and not a full blown hands off autopilot.
-
No we are just giving some feedback here too. :D You'll find a way to find space for controls.
-
Happens also with hot start on ground and as dovla said just raise collective a bit until both engines sync. Although autopilot is rather optional. :) Having said that latest stable update and not once did it do it.
-
Ah but in oculus home you can turn off essentially Anti Aliasing it the settings actually in oculus home not the 2D interface. And in Nvidia .control panel there are settings that you can define as application controlled. First one sett the 3D with preview to let application decide. Then manage 3D settings Set most everything to off or application controlled. FXAA Off DSR Off MFAA off Just see what works and what uses GPU but doesn't really do anything.
-
Same here turned off both nvidia and oculus processing, looks better and preforms better for me with Rift.
