Whad does this mean?
-
Very nice conveying the thickness of front armor glass  And those bakelite and ebonite!
-
And general continuous output of information on the screen instead of update with each new sweep. Best wishes guys, hope you'll succeed.

Looks like a misunderstanding between ED and Razbam or something. It was stated that the MiG wil be released this month as a final product(read no further improvement, what you see in the video is final). That scared many people me including.

MiG-21, F/A-18C, Skyhawk have plausible radars. Nobody said "Hey guys we have a picture of the ground as a placeholder, but procedural clutter is inbound", so you have the comments. With MiG-23 I expect it to demand the user to tune it to engagement geometry and ECM situation(at least to the level of MiG-21) to see the target. I expect to use real manual and see the sim behaving somehow related to it.

I am a game developer myself and I know how much effort does such software cost. Nevertheless there are certain definitions of done for a certain product niche. What is inconstructive with criticizing a critical system which is clearly and obviously not done yet, while it is stated that the release is scheduled this month and its going to be final, which leads to zero chance at a RP-5 simulation which is first gen tech, and the guys are sharping their teeth at a 3+ gen with Tomcat level of complexity. I don't want anyone hurt, I want people to achieve what they should and be proud of themselves. So: Pretty please, dear devs, make a plausible radar simulation with a plausible depiction of its indication. Thank you in advance!

You may always have some acecombat. DCS is not about fancy models or colorful liveries. Here we want boring things like charts and real manuals being applicable.
-
No need for anything fancy. Always can place an inactive hostile battery to simulate a friendly battery reacting to wrong IFF.
-
Are IFF switches going to be implemented? Of course it cant be simulated for real, but we can read the switch position in a mission and simulate 1960 Gary Powers situation when two MiGs were shot down by friendly fire because they forgot to enter new IFF code in a hurry.
-

-
Completely otherwise. It has 4 modes only based on target and self elevation, and many more based on other parameters. Bearing in mind it is the first redfor lookdown shootdown it may be harder to simulate than say F-18C.
-
Guys, its a placeholder, sorry. Please, it must be drawn with the scan. And air contacts too, not constantly taken from the game logic. It should be scan pass oscilloscope. You cant pass to MiG-23 with that crapload of modes and switchology if you wont make this elder thing right. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Av8AkR4AFNU Similar era and tech, maybe its even more advanced than our case. Couldn't find RP-5, but this one gives the idea of how that tech looks.

Hat's off for the gunsight cage on the ground!!! Chocks - DCS L-39 has them, modern L-39 flight school checklists state checking if manometers move when pressing and releasing the brake lever, and having wheel chocks(and chicks at the tantsi at the dom kultury in the evening) in place before moving the throttles from idle without the intent to move out. Thats why I asked.
-
The joke at the beginning is gold :))) Is it OK to test the engines without wheel chocks? Also, doing hydraulics check AFTER engine runup? A good chance for some lawn mowing there ))) Is control stick trim hat animated?

Some movies, mig-21 era but still. list of MiG-19 regiments: http://forums.airforce.ru/matchast/5291-mig-19-ekspluataciya-reestr-opisanie/#post100839 http://venec.ulstu.ru/lib/disk/2015/Pankov_1.pdf In short, combat control officer on the ground commands his buddy aircraft, or pair to position them for an attack of the enemy from behind preferably undetected by the target. It is on different frequency than home ATC, and there may be different combat controllers during one sortie depending on early warning sites structure so a good point for simulated missions is establishing communications with different guys on the ground, maybe adding personality to each voice. Basically, instructions for course and altitude before takeoff, then correcting messages which course and altitude to be on as "heading, altitude", and shorter commands like "left 10". Closer to target control officer says more precise commands like "turn right roll 30 to course 270" to specify the speed of needed corrections. In range of fighter's radar: callsign, enable emission. Pilot: target on radar/got visual. Controller: proceed to engage, egress right/left to course, altitude.

It actually looks like a brush painted homogenous steel armor at least 10mm thick, instead of airbrush painted 2mm sheet aluminum. Looking forward for more finished materials.
-
On the edge of my seat waiting for an educational video about that mode.
-
Would be very nice to have plain water map, but with spherical geo shape so you wont see ships from 30 miles from deck level.
-
Tried that with MiG-21. Hysterically fun. B-36 and B-47 were still mainstream then. RB-66 was shot down exactly with S-5 rockets in 1964.
