You misunderstood me, what i meant was that you should post this question in the "mission builder's corner" section of the forum not in the A-10C section. Anyway, i tried both a failure trigger (with a "time more" and "all of group in zone" condition) and the a-10c's own menu for setting up a failure but neither of them worked. The random system failures checkbox in the options MISC. tab was checked during these try outs and i even forced the mission settings to enable random system failures. But yea it doesnt seem to work. Im not sure if its a bug or i did something wrong. Either way like i said, you should post this in Mission Builder's Corner section. They could help you there.

you should upload the mission file so people can take a look at it. And i think this should in "mission builder's corner" not here in the a10

I dont think this is something a real pilot would do in combat but, you can try this against long range SAM's. When you spot the SAM on your RWR, start turning until its on your 1 or 11 o'clock position. Keep him on one of these positions relative to you until it starts to track you. When it starts to track you, put him on your 3-9 line and wait for him to launch, spot the missile smoke, turn on to him as quick as possible, set SPI somewhere near him using the HUD and start diving as steep as possible. Dogde the missile, slave your TGP to the SPI u just set, create a mark point on that, get out of the dive and fly away from his track range. After that you can just climb high, spot him with the TGP and use a pop-up maneuver to kill him. Edit: that being said, normally you should avoid these things, its usually like charging a spear wall head on with cavalry. Ye you can break the line every once in a while but it mostly ends up with the cavalry looking like a pincushion

Just use CDU's LASTE page for accurate wind info. If you dont know how to Check out this thread

Yeap, same goes for me too. i actually bought a new pc and a warthog set. I had some money i saved and applied for a job in an office and worked there for couple of months to get the money together. Everyone around me, including my family, told me that i was spending too much money on these things and i was being childish by doing it. The day that warthog came, everyone who put their hands on it said the same thing to me " wow, i wasnt expecting for it to be this good". nobody said anything about the money after they touched it. Its that good. If you have the money to buy it, dont even hessitate.

Well, you can take out almost anything (tanks, apc, buildings etc.) with mk82s if you manage to get a direct hit on the target but its really hard to get those direct hits every time especially on moving targets. During missions, i use them for taking out AAA encampments or other soft static targets, if i feel confident that i can hit them (weather conditions are the main factor for me). During practices, i only use mk82 s to get better and despite doing it for some time now, im still quite amateur with them. Like cthulhu68 said, its really a challenge. For the training part, i load 6 mk82 s against a column of T90s and for the wind part i use the half values of "wind and clouds" weather template. I still cant get consistent with my hit percentage though, maybe im doing something wrong in the LASTE, im not sure. Edit: oh and there is nothing like ripple dropping 12 mk82 s on a moving vehicle column and watching it from the convoys perspective :d

Ye it usually ends up with a, im hit, call when you do that :d

Yeah both for others and yourself. Visual markers are quite usefull when you want to share info with other flights and they are easy to employ. Edit: for example, you fire one south east of town of gori. after that you can radio, lets say a huey flight. you tell them to spot the white smoke marker south east of gori and engage the infantry group 1 miles north of it.

They create a cloud of white smoke on impact point. I use them for marking targets.

I used to fly with a full loadout (usually around %100 max weight), this means lots of different weapons so you can try anything you want during a mission but it makes the aircraft really slow as a consequence. There was a similar discussion couple of months back i think and half the people in that discussion said they like flying with a smaller loadout cos it made their aircraft significantly faster. So i decided to try that. A smaller loadout means that you have to plan what you are going to do, since you wont be carrying 6 agm s and 4 gbu s. You need to be efficient with your weapons, that kinda forces you to focus and to take the most guaranteed way of engaging targets. And the extra speed you get is just sweet. Anyway now i usually fly with a loadout like this: I almost always take 2*AIM9 s, litening pod, 2*Mavericks and an ECM pod. Rest is usually depends on the mission. If its a daytime mission, i take 1*agm-65d, 1*agm-65h, 7* m274 smoke rockets on the symmetric pylon of the litening( i learned the value of these little guys after i started to look more out of the cockpit instead of focusing on the sensors non-stop). If its a night time mission, i take 2*agm-65d,7* m257 illumination flares on the symmetric pylon of the litening pod. If im going against a large number of infantry and light vehicles i take, 1*TER m151 rockets and 1*TER mk5 rockets. If thats not the situation i usually take 2 bombs depending on the weather conditions (2*mk82 or 2*gbu12 or 2*gbu38 ) If i know ill be going against a group of armored targets (like 5-10 tanks) i take a cbu97 on the middle pylon. Fuel state really depends on the mission but if there is a tanker available or if i can rtb for refueling %50-%60 percent fuel is what i go with. Lastly i never take the bigger bombs (like mk84, gbu 10 etc.) with me unless im sure i have a target that needs those fat guys. The planning part of carrying less weapons is really fun to be honest.

Keeping TGP locked onto targets in mountain ranges?
kylekatarn720 replied to mastersetter's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
When i need to engage an area with multiple targets or if the terrain is going to be screwing up my line of sight to the targets constantly, i just change the STEER PT DIAL to MARK, pick my targets from the TGP and create mark points over them. After that i can target any one of them instantly, i know where each and every one of them is at all times, broadcast or send those targets to my wingman. Its almost like cheating to be honest. -
Just tried it, everthing seems to work fine. Are you sure you are on the right freq. and you are using the right radio? edit: Which is 251.00 on UHF

Whic cbu you are using? If its one of the guided ones, did you set spi before you release them? Did you change the hof setting? Maybe the wind is too strong for the selected hof and bomblets gets carried away Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk

Just to be sure, you are absolutely positive that the you are not doing anything wrong right? And im not trying to be a smartass or anything, jsut wanna be sure. I would try it right now but i didnt install nevada after i did a clean re install of my windows. Still, if nobody answers your question ill reinstall nevada and try it tomorrow oh and a track would help i think. Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk

They do work for me. Can you describe whats going on on your side? Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk Edit: viewing from the phone, didnt see the whole title. I didnt tried them in nevada.

That is a right perspective, and lets add this, bugdet limitations can make a huge difference on a product.

I dont think that that question makes any sense. Edit: I mean, nations dont make jets, engineers do. Engineers that work for companies. Companies that can employ engineers from all around the world. And those companies usually bound by contract by limitations.

Controls are ready to use on plug in. But i had some trouble with the axis commands, you should check that section out. I dont use any dead zones or curvatures on it, but i heard some of the guys usin it. Its a personal preferance i suppose. Ive changed only 3 buttons from the default setup. They were apu start and engine ignitions on throttle. I use those for night vision googles on/off and increase/decrease gain Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk

It looks good and for 3000 dollars i think you should get a gtx 1080 at least. I know you said u dont want it but you should seriously consider building it own your your own. Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk

Well, you can actually see the the airport on your hud when you use the divert page and from the kneeboard pages you can get the course line for the runway you intend to land on. So its everything tacan has, plus the indication on the hud for the airports exact location. But of course this is my preference. About the ILS signal receiving, on the kneeboard pages you can see which airport has ILS or TCN beacon on which of their runways and their frequencies, the atc frequencies, runway courselines and the map of the airport. Some of the airports only has 1 ILS beacon some of them more. To be honest only times i pay attention the atc is when they tell you to go around or go to alternate which usually means someone else is already on the runway. Other than that just land however you want to. In multiplayer there are actual people doing the atc s job which means you should listen to them but in singleplayer ai is not very usefull as an atc.
-
Use the kneeboard to see all the relevant information on any airport. Kutaisi s tacan frequency is 44x which you can see on the kneeboards kutaisi airdrome page. IIRC kutaisi has ILS beacon only on the runway 08 thats probably why you are not getting the the ILS signal. You dont need to use the tacan when you can use the cdu s divert page. Edit: If you dont know how to open up the kneeboard, go in to the adjust controls menu and select kneeboard on the category list. Edit2: Oh and ATC s dont tell you how to land in dcs or at least i ve never heard them telling anything about that.
