DCS: F-16CM Block 50 by EDSA Discussion Thread
RyboPops replied to NineLine's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
No, of course there is no guarantee, but M5 is when the capability to employ them was added. The later the tape the better IMO. I know there are a few Viper pilots willing to help. There was a Viper pilot in my former BMS squadron that was willing to help the devs get BMS to an M6 level with the unclass info. I'm trying to get in touch with him again and get him over here. -

So we get all the Gucci weapons and avionics to play with...JSOW, JASSM, EGBU-12, ASMS, JMPS, EGI, J standard L16, etc. -

Yes. I'm desperately hoping for an M5 or later aircraft, but just knowing for sure would be extremely helpful for squadron planning purposes. -

Please...I'm begging....what tape are we going to get? -
Great work to the both of you! Inquiring minds would love to know what the next project on your radar is ;)

What's with the huge bow wakes? Are they steaming at 50 knots or something?
-
Variety is the spice of life. They're all based on real world photos with some creative liberties taken to account for sim-isms. I doubt any of them would work well with AI.
-
Will any of these work if I just have the F-15C and not all of FC3?
-
I'm not sure the numbers for groove time used in your code Alerax, but some info from Greg Brett that you might (or might not) find useful: <9 seconds: No Grade 9-11 seconds: Fair 12-21 seconds(15-18 is ideal): OK 22-24 seconds: Fair >24 seconds: No Grade
-
Try aiming for half a ball higher than center. It's called a "center crester" in the real world and that should get you the best grade possible.
-
Sickdog, you got a cut pass because of your come down at the ramp...that's a big no-no. You can still get an (OK) pass with (\)AR but once you have \AR, it's a guaranteed C. Flying down through the glideslope IC or AR can be deadly IRL, and the grading is intended to emphasize that.

I have some more bug reports and requests after playing with it more. Please forgive me if I missed a post somewhere that indicates if these are already in-work: 1) BUG REPORT - The altimeter provided by the script is incorrect. For example, the altimeter setting CATCC gave was 30.3, but the correct setting was actually 30.03. 2) BUG REPORT - Script seemed to hang up in MP (self-hosted server) after my dash two got an interval WOP. Resetting to inbound displayed the message, but after that no further communications were received for any of the options (i.e. Marshal single, straight in, etc). I was able to reproduce this behavior on a subsequent re-hosting of the server using a different miz file. 3) REQUEST - Is it possible to use a frequency OTHER than the in-sim carrier ATC frequency? That would be nice so I don't hear those silly calls the current AI ATC makes after trapping. It should also prevent the comm menu selection window from auto-appearing on trap, which would help with immersion (and makes recorded footage look less silly). 4) REQUEST - Is it possible to add an option for a Pattern Section in addition to the Marshal Section? I'm not sure if this is done IRL, but in some circumstances it would be nice to be able to proceed direct to the pattern as a section if the stack is empty. 5) REQUEST - Is it possible to read tanker info from the sim? Would be nice to have a "99, tanker overhead mother angels XX" call. Since you can't (currently) anchor an AI orbit around the boat, perhaps it could just read any tanker within 25 miles of the boat, for example? Thanks again for an awesome tool!

Doh! Thanks, I forgot about that. I also have a feature request. I flew a few hook up passes for practice and it counts all of them as bolters. Is it possible for it to detect the hook up/down status so it can grade accordingly? Hook up passes are graded as if they were regular passes minus a wire caught. IIRC there is LSO shorthand for hook up passes as well. I don't remember what it is, but let's say the shorthand is HU. An example of a hook up pass would then look like: (OK)HU (H)X (H)IM (DL)IC NCAR Edit: The reason for this is that if you are using this script for grading, all of those training hook up passes are graded as bolters, which only give 2.5 points (instead of 3 for the fair pass example above). Bolters also count against your boarding rate, whereas hook up passes don't.

No one need be too impressed, it was simply a straight in approach to test if I implemented the script correctly. My first pass doing a full marshal stack and overhead was not nearly as nice lol Also, I noticed that the actual BRC that runs perfectly parallel to the boat is 5 degrees less than what was shown, so in the case of my pass earlier the actual BRC that got me parallel with the wake was 290 degrees rather than 295 degrees. I haven't extensively tested yet to see if this is always true...has anyone else noticed this?

Any idea what the diamonds with question marks are? I'm guessing I'm missing a font or something?

Can't wait to add them to the collection!

I made this mod for my squadron and decided it would be good to release to the public as well. It's a simple fix for the A-10C strobe brightness and makes them much more reasonable for daylight hours. I recommend using JSGME or OVGME to enable it for daytime operations and disable it (i.e. use default brightness) for night ops. You can download the file from user files here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3302426/ Cheers!

The 163rd Virtual Fighter Squadron is a highly realistic A-10C squadron mirroring our real world counterpart, the 163rd FS, of the Indiana ANG. Visit us at http://www.v163.org or drop in and introduce yourself on our Discord at https://discord.gg/xMkwmMP. This video is a tribute to the often under-appreciated beauty we see in DCS every time we fly, and to the Airmen of the 163rd FS that do this day in and day out in service of our country.

Hey Skullz, just wanted to say thanks for this fantastic sound mod. I've been using it for quite a while, but this week I was fortunate enough to see a Huey IRL doing long-line forestry. I was absolutely blown away by just how accurate your sounds are! You absolutely nailed every aspect of how it sounds. Edit - here's a vid I took with my phone for anyone interested:

Note that APP ATC isn't currently working in DCS.
-
It was unexpected and I made a joke about it, no need to get salty about it.
-
Wait...a T.O.? I don't think that's quite right... :music_whistling:

Didn't PG release at noon Eastern time?
