ShopBLT - More TM Warthogs on the way!
Slayer replied to JG27_Arklight's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
from the 2nd email I recieved from them: "Currently, this item is scheduled to ship to us from the factory on 10/30. Should the manufacturer miss the estimates, we will notify you and provide you with updated estimated arrival date(s). In the meantime, we have secured your place in line for this popular item, and as soon as stock is available, it will ship immediately. Additionally, you will not be charged for this item until shipped (we may have obtained a temporary approval for the above amount, but it will not be collected until the order ships.)" I guess if I find somewhere else that is actually shipping on the 20th I'll cancel... -

Slayer replied to gt112's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Newegg.com has a power supply calculator it can be found under their power supply section , http://c1.neweggimages.com/BizIntell/tool/psucalc/index.html?cm_sp=Cat32_PowerSupply_left-_-PowerSupplyFinder030510-_-http%3a%2f%2fpromotions.newegg.com%2fproductfinders%2fpowersupply.jpg Whatever you choose I would definately check this tool to make sure you have adequate power. -
NVIDIA 258.96 drivers watchout...
Slayer replied to Pilotasso's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
There was a version up there at the beginning of summer and they pulled it right away and fixed it. There was a big warning on their driver download section for a while also. I've had the fan issue on various Nvidia hardware and driver combinations in several completely different computer builds since the release of the 8800's. It all seems to boil down to if the card manufacturer used the same fan control chip and stuck with the refrence Nvidia BIOS for the card. My original 8800 GTX's made by ASUS had a different fan chip than the stock refrence card and it took over a years worth of driver releases before the issue was finally corrected. I always make sure that the fans work properly after every driver upgrade now. -
Scared G940 user - too many hat switches!
Slayer replied to GunSlingerAUS's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
You dont map that hat as buttons in the game you need to assign it to slew axises under "axis commands" just like you do for joystick rudder etc. I maped all my controls in the sim as well but still ended up making a profile because all the G940 axis are way too sensitive. I turned them all down to 30% sensitivity in the profile and left everything else blank. -
THey typically end up in your windows Documents folder but as previous poster stated you can just double click it and loa it from anywhere. X52 profile is totally a different entity than the game.

NVIDIA 258.96 drivers watchout...

I lost an 8800 GTX to overheating from fan control issues. I always use EVGA precision now(You have to register on their forum to get it though) -
I read a post from TM that said it would have been too much of a niche product they weren't sure it would sell well and then there was the issue of trying to make it compatible across multiple games like Falcon, DCS and FSX and any other future sims. They were just looking to make a low cost product that had the capability to be used by non-enthusiast as well has hardcore cockpit guys. I don't say as I blame them. Flight sim people are a vicious and picky lot. It would have been a huge gamble for a little return. Maybe they will rethink this after DCS:A-10C releases if it sells well...

Just installed BS on new PC - can't find registration key?

Go to http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/ and login on the left you can find your info and download here. -
I used to work in an approach control ATC in the USAF years ago. 3/A is mainly for controllers directing traffic all aircraft that under ATC control had to have it turned on (mil or civ) VFR traffic with advisories used code 1200 ( I think). What use is it unless there is an ATC or an AWACS (sim has neither). Maybee they could have it showing the squak code in F10 view other than that seems like it would not really serve any function game wise. That is unless you are a perfectionist and want to pretend that you filed a flight plan and departure told you what to set it to. In that case go play FSX :)
-
I've been waiting to get feedback on these. Maybee I should just play it safe and get 2-8" ones with the DVI port instead. But for that kind of money I could just buy an el cheapo 19" and make a cardboard mask to cover the parts I dont want to see. I guess we will all see once a new beta comes out and people with the hardware already can be the test subjects :P

If your aim is bad you can always opt for a bigger hammer :P

Looks good. Keep up the good work.

Did you point the DCS blackshark profile to the right .exe file in your Logitech profiler? The one that comes with the G940 is pre 1.02 patch and the name of DCS.exe no longer is used and it is in a different location. You need to point it to simulator.exe (or the equivelant in german version) Once you do this I would go into the profile and see if somehow the axis are maped properly.

The most amazing one that struck me is the plain old sun. When you start to break through the clouds and its peeking through then bam....It's probably the most realistic sun I've seen modeled in any game so far. Also liking the effects of the bullets striking the ground very nice indeed.

I think it is up to the mission designer to hide the units or not, so it could go either way depending on how whomever made the mission decided the intel should be. One of the missions you can send in the AI flights but I've only played it once and didnt use them to see how it works... On that thought ...multiplayer will probably become a lot more dynamic if there are human players controling ground units :) Cant' wait for final release, I'm sure the community will make some interesting missions.

I am a half empty kind of guy...you got me :P BUT here is where I keep getting the $500.00....straight off the TM website press release: The HOTAS WARTHOG™ will be available in October, at a suggested retail price of £369.99 UK, $499.99 USD & €399.99 Euro (VAT included). Check out all of our products at www.thrustmaster.com I've owned many TM products: FLCS, F16, F22 etc so I do have quite a bit of expierence with their stuff, albeit a bit dated. All the above products had quality issues. Like I said I skipped the Cougar and went another direction. After tinkering around in the beta for a while I've made up my mind to get the HOTAS Warthog and give TM another try...I still like the G940 but with the incredible fidelity of DCS:WH I just wont be happy with anything less...

I've seen it done like that but the question is will you be able to make that work in A10c? Just modded my MFD's had to switch the BRT and CON buttons around to match the hog and remap the buttons so they aren't flipped in the game......

There are a lot of 5" 4:3 screens used for video survelance available. I just havent found any with a VGA coneector on it. Most seem to be BNC type... wonder if there is a way to convert a DVI signal to a BNC type cable.

SPECIAL ORDER- 3-4 weeks after product come out, nothanks :P
-
$500.00 US and not listed for sale on any major retailer anywhere. Not good. Less than 2 weeks before product launch and you can't preorder anywhere except some small shop in England? I would't trust those smaller shops farther than I could kick them. They will probably sell dozens and are only alloted to recieve 2 sticks from TM. I bet there will be a bunch of pissed off people here in this forum shortly after the 20th. This happens every time with new product launches on computer hardware. At least with places like Newegg and Amazon they mostly don't sell more than they will get and then holdout their customers for a month while waiting for backorders. I've been building PC's since the 386DX days and fell victem to BS marketing and lies several times.....Always pay with credit card and if you don't get your stick shorthly after the 20th cancel immediately and tell your CC company to block them from charging you. For $500.00 and you still have to buy pedals to use it this thing better work flawlessly and last for 10 years with no failure. As much as I want it I'm holding out until real reviews come in and reputable retailers have it in stock so you have some recourse if it is a $500.oo lemon.
