X52pro profile not responding in W7
Slayer replied to wasserfall's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I think the throttle defaults to the slider on the throttle for some weird reason. You'll have to set it up under axis commands again (for each aircraft) -
I have been a longtime Saitek user but I'm on the fence of getting one of these (used)....I also play wings of prey and 1946 sometimes but mainly am still into DCS:BS and LOFC2. Is it worth it?? Keep in mind Im not going to pay full price and am going to update the software and controller ROM right away.

The problem with adding later is even if you buy the same part number you may not get the exact same sticks and it can cause instability. Most BIOS only allow you to set the ram timings for all sticks at once, so if there are variations you are forced to turn off all the auto settings, look up all the timings and compare to find the slowest settings, then manually set your memory timings to the lowest common denominator. I learned this the hard way a long time ago....it lends to a system where you have instability and it's really hard to nail down. I hope I don't come off wrong , just trying to pass on info so you have a nice fast and stable system for gaming :)

I had a conversation with Saitek tech support a while ago about something similar. One day I came home from work and sat down to play and my stick didn't work anymore. After fooling around with it and doing a system restore it worked again. Then Windows update installed the driver again and it quit working.. I had many hours of headache because of this. I ended up emailing Saitek and the tech support told me they typically push drivers to Windows update before you will see a driver package on their website. Moral of the story, turn off auto updates and see what it wants to install before you let it. If it doesn't still show for you, try going in device manager under Human interface devices, find the Saitek listing, right click, pick properties, go to the driver tab, click update and it will check to see if there is a newer WHQL driver available.

You can get whatever ram you want but you are getting 2 dimms instead of 3. It's different on the I7 compared to your Core 2 system. To take advantage of the three ram channels you will need to populate at least 3 DIMM slots not 2. Core 2 systems can only use dual channel...in otherwords it can access both memory sticks at the same time to boost performance. In I7 it can access all 3 at once. On your old board it probably had 4 or 8 memory slots and you put them in in pairs, on the I7 boards you put them in in multiples of three, so your new board will have 3 6 9 or 12 slots for the memory chips. Understand? In your first post you even refrence the dominator 3 channel memory kit (2gig x 3 sticks, 6 gig kit)
-
I think the guy is telling you wrong, an I7 930 will require triple channel memory so you would have a choice of 3g, 6g or 12g of memory.

Dual Graphics Card Performance
Slayer replied to TAIPAN_'s topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
There are different modes of SLI, the default mode has each card rendering half of the display for Nvidia cards. Not sure on ATI how they do it for crossfire. Using different cards isn't reccomended by either Nvidia or ATI but they both support it. It's called "hybrid sli". Since you didn't specify what chip makers cards your using its slightly different for each.. In regards to DCS there is a slight performance boost with SLI and Crossfire but it's really not worth the cost (it's only a few FPS). I run my GTX295 with the SLI turned off and use the second card for whats called "multi GPU AA" , it offloads all the Anti Alias onto the second card and makes it look way better with zero performance drop. DCS is more CPU bound. If your graphics card is decent you're better off with a CPU upgrade... If your using Vista or 7 it's a hassle to get it to display on several monitors unless you have a THTG or something similar, especially if you are thinking to use one for ABRIS or shkval display. -
Perfect stick for A-10C from Thrustmaster?
Slayer replied to some1's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I don't even see any info on the TM site anymore for this stick.... -
From my ATC experience the taxiways are labeled A B C D etc but all the pilots and controllers had FLIPs etc and were supposed to know the layout and which taxiway was what when the controller issued the instructions. Those books had everyting, including non radar approach procedures and such so even if you weren't familliar with the airport you still had all the info. All this stuff is waaaaay beyond the scope of this game. It's a HUGE ammount of information. This was USAF though not sure how the Russian airbases worked and I worked in the RAPCON not the tower...

There are several out there but they are for real training or are enthusiast hardware, here's one. http://www.maxflightstick.com/ There was another system demoed before by ED at a show in England also but I can't find the link just google it.

I was an early adopter and bought the russian version because I was impatient and wanted to fly so the ekran voice really doesn't bother me, It was a daunting task to learn when you couldn't understand anything and had to use videos to learn how to fly it . I somewhat learned quickly what the messages meant because I crashed a lot and took a lot of damage early on... The thing is, people don't like having choices taken away and flight simmers are the MOST picky group of gamers I've ever met. They get upset because they didn't get to have input on patch. Localization is a part of just about any game these days and if you want worldwide sales you need it. It takes huge resources and time to do all the translations and supporting such a product can be an immense task for developers so it is a fine line to walk. They probably did this to get the patch out so all of us could fly together on multiplayer and for this I'm grateful. It's the most fun I've had in a long long time. In the end after a day or two it's not really a big deal and you don't even think about it (unless you are obsessive/compuslsive) I played online all weekend and it really didn't affect the gameplay for me at all. I could still read the EKRAN and see the subtitles and yeah....the russian betty DOES have a sexy voice.....lol

I guess that means in DCS:A10 there wont be a lick of Russian language to be found- since it's and American aircraft?? I don't think then that the russian players will be very happy either...

Scroll Wheel in X52 Pro not working with FC2 (1.2.1)
Slayer replied to CY6_Anubis's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I use the scroll wheel for radar range increase/decrease. Initially I tried the 2 wheel axis for slewing the TD box but quickly discovered it is too slow and cumbersome to try locking up targets, especially in multiplayer when flying against real human oponents. I ended up going back to a hat for slewing :/ -

Saitek and Black Shark Problem
Slayer replied to Ramstein's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I didn't see any issue with your profile. Ran it for a few test runs and no problems. Checked it in the profiler test mode and no issues there either. I was getting a BSOD with LOFC 2 with the profiler open and the config open in the game but not during gameplay and not with DCS:BS. Since then I have reinstalled the software and moved the joystick to a differnt USB port and I haven't had a crash for a while. I do think there may have been a conflict between software versions of my cyborg keyboard and the X52-Pro since they both use the same profiler but it is hard to say. The profiler software download for the keyboard is way smaller than the download for the joystick, the one for the stick seems to be the newest version but with saitek it's hard to tell... I don't own the pedals but I see they are supported in the profiler software, which order did you install them and did you install ther drivers and software for both?? -
Saitek and Black Shark Problem
Slayer replied to Ramstein's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
If you upload your profile I could take a look at it for you. If you are flooding the input you will get BSOD and crashes. This happens when you use a keypress where you should have used a macro instead. A keypress will execute as long as it is held down a macro will only press one time no matter if you hold it down or not. Normally this is not a problem but when you use a keypress in a "band" of anykind it WILL flood the input because there is no release. For example: if you put a keypress in the very top part of the profile (Mode1,2,3 etc) pushes a key when you switch modes if you used a keypress, that key will continually be sent as long as you are in that mode. Your CPU usage will spike, you will flood the input buffer and windows will crash. In his case all you do is use a macro instead. I use in my profile so when I switch to my "Navigation" mode, it will press the 1 key for me. Some people I know always use macros to prevent this from happening but a macro will not work good for something like continuously firing a gun etc. -
Advice on PC Surround Sound System needed
Slayer replied to 159th_Viper's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have an old Creative Desktop Theater 3500 in a similar sized room that is way less power and it sounds amazing. That system is more than adequate. I would use the optical out on your soundcard to drive the speaker system and set the soundcard for passthrough mode to offload the decoding from your computer to the speakers since they have a built in decoder. -
Logitech G940 and Win 7 64 bit Blue Screen
Slayer replied to 's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I almst pulled the trigger and bought this when it came out. It could have been the perfect stick for the Blackshark but seems to be still a lot of issues. Sorry to hear about you guys having so many issues. I'll be watching your posts closely when the new software comes out to see if they can resolve the FFB centering and BSOD issues with this stick. Please keep the rest of us updated if/when the resolve the issues. Maybee I'll buy one off EBay when they finally do. :) -
Saitek products are ok. I've got a Cyborg keyboard and X52 Pro also. I play in low light conditions so the backlit keys are a must. I bought my X52 Pro as a factory refurb and it's been a great stick for the price. The pots and sliders are a bit spiky at times but overall happy with it.

At the top of the config screen use the dropdown box that says "all" and pick "axis commands". The "all" category doesn't show axis.
-
I also notice the limitation of the FOV on the TIR4. Since you're buying it new I would go for the TIR5.

Dual throttle is not really a game breaking issue. I'd venture a guess that 1 throttle works as a throttle for both engines as it alwyas did before these dual throttle sticks appeared on the market. From saitek website: "Dual throttle for finer control over twin engine jets, or lock the two throttles together for single engine fighters" Lock them together for this game until the issue is resolved, this thread is a waste of time and energy and ED will fix it sooner or later, they just aren't going to jump through hoops like a circus dog for you and release a patch for this today and another patch for another issue tomorrow and another one for for a different issue the following day...

Bummer their website is down :/

I had windows update install a Saitek driver on me before and everything quit working....took me a week to figure out what happend. It wasn't the release driver either it was a slightly newer one....Try a system restore or check your updates and see if anything was done ?
