1. Works on all channels here, theres no setting in the game because it uses the windows settings..
2. In SST the lefthand modifier keys just show ALT, SHIFT, CTRL etc. The righthand modifier keys say Right Shift, Right Alt, etc. There is a difference in SST and the game. Also see my post in here http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=35034 about the SST bug with right shift. Try to stay away from advanced commands if you can unless you absolutely need it.
3. Not sure if you can do this, seems like starforce would detect a different OS and force reactivate each time you tried to run it if you booted to the other OS. My guess is you'll burn through your activations fast :/
4. I made a post about this a bit back in this forum. Basically you need to do the exact opposite of what the config in the game shows and you need to do it like this also in your SST software. Also you need to HOLD the modifier key while pressing the letter key so if it is LALT-H , when you program it you hold left alt and then press H, then release both. When you are programing in the SST it is recording what you press, even though it doesn't appear to. If there are multiple modifiers you need to press and hold them in order for it to work so: LSHFT+LALT+H you would need to press and hold in the left shift, left alt then hit H then release the keys. There is also bug in the older versions of the SST software that doesnt allow you to use the right shift key at all....they never released an official update for the SST software to address this but I figured out the SST software appears to be the same for all their controllers, the newer ones have a newer version of SST that fixed this problem. I just downloaded the SST programing software for the P3200 which was a newer version than the "official" one for the X52/X52 Pro. Works great for the joysticks and the shift bug is gone. No problems and I didnt have to try to remap the boatload of default keys that used the right shift.... There is also an updated file "newinput.dll" for the Russian version that fixed issues that some people were having with programable sticks, not sure if the file is already patched in the english version or not.
5. If there were a way to add an additional fixed "camera" view maped to a seprate screen this would be best way to go. That way you would retain all the functionality of the switch logic without having to make TB profiles. I am not refering to the ABRIS or Shkval "screens" that they have implemented in the default config files, these just display what the monitors in the sim show. What I'm thinking of is more like what you do in 3ds max to create a new camera and position it in front of the ABRIS. Just browsing at the lua files I would venture a guess that you could add another "Viewport" and focus in on the ABRIS with one of them instead of like they do in the 3cameras.lua with each camera focused on a different portion of the same view but all linked together. You would just have to figure out how to point a camera at the ABRIS to encompass the buttons and zoom it in a bit to fill the screen and unlink it from being slewed with the other cameras. Maybee someone at ED could write us such a config file or confirm if it is possible to add another camera that isn't linked to the other camera(s)
6. You have to buy the super-deluxe platinum edition to get that
7. You are looking at the key setup, there is a dropdown list at the top pick the page Axis setups, go in there.
8. Did you try the "newinput.dll" yet? If not try a forum search on the general forum for it.
9. Good to hear, I've been able to fly multiplayer now on the 159ths server without crash every time I die. Fun fun!
10. I haven't seen any information on what sound API DCS:BS is using unsure if the game is using OpenAL or DS3D.There seems to be some 3dsound without changing anything under Vista. In my experience with alchemy , even if a game isn't using ds3d and you install alchemy to it's program directory it will mirror the sound with a slight latency ...so it sounds like its doing something but it's autally not other than slight reverb. Alchemy is supposed to replace the directsound dll in the game directory but as far as I can see there isn't any such file in DCS:BS so I doubt Alchemy is doing anything...
11. Thanks for the info, I have been trying to figure out that also :)
12. Permanent fix I went on the saitek site and looked a bit at the DirectOutput SDK forum. To me it appeared that something had to be compiled into a .exe or .dll by a programmer to use this so I did a bit of looking at the files and found this in C:\Program Files (x86)\1C\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\bin\stable\lua-direct_output.dll Only 1 thing I know of even uses DirectOutput...you guessed it...the X52/X52Pro I removed this file from the directory and tested again. Load mission, eject rinse repeat a few times. It worked flawlessly with no crashes and I was able to leave the SaiDOutput service running so I can still see the commands and stuff on my MFD. No more dumb message sent to my stick causing crashes. Maybe some others can test and verify if this fix corrects the problem on their system and post results?
13. I'm going to dig into those files and see what I can come up with. I don't want to permanently disable the display and shouldn't have to. It works fine in every other game and I like to see what the button function is for testing purposes and sometimes forget the lesser used buttons when I program all the modes :P If I can just figure out how to stop the game from sending crap to my stick it should be fixed.
14. Great post, lots of people overlook the collective brake...I know I did. +1
15. So that stuff is actually modeled? Amazing attention to detail. I figured it was just a fluke til I saw this thread.
16. When I was over 4k in the mountains, EKRAN started saying to de-ice and I fumbled around a bit looking for the buttons. Next thing I know my blade tips hit eachother and I was spiraling toward the ground...Pretty sure it was due to ice since I was in level flight not stressing the rotors or anything.
17. I took this girl out friday and we.... :megalol: I just couldn't resist
18. I learned a very good way to target flying on the 159th's server. Use the helmet aiming recitcle, enable turn to target and moving target( if the target is moving) and turn on your laser. Now all you do is hold down the "uncage shkval" button then aim with the yellow monacle to where your targets are, then release the button. This will get you pretty close to the target. Your helicopter will slowly turn to the target, slew the shkval onto it and size the target box then press lock target. Fire away Sometimes you have to rudder just a tiny bit to line up the larger circle over the aim point. You need to keep a stable firing platform if at all possible. I'm no expert on the matter but I think you need to keep pointed at the target while the missile is in flight. It also seems to help to have some elevation over the target (seems to miss less) because if you're too low at such a low aspect angle only a minor error will cause a miss. Turn on target only seems to work for me if I engage the auto hover mode, not sure if its supposed to be like that but I have not dug too deeply into the manual.
19. Possible FIX need a dev to look at I have isolated the problem causing the X52Pro crashes on my system. I ran a few test flights with different configurations to see if I could figure out what is causing this. It is because of DirectOutput. The game is using the DirectOutput SDK to send the infamous "RULLEZ !!!! SAITEK" to the MFD on the joystick and turn one of the fire buttons yellow. If I go into Windows Task Manager under the services and manually stop the service before playing the game (SaiDOutput) this will prevent the MFD from operating BUT NO CRASHES. The profile will still work, just that there will be only the default display on the MFD. It is easy for me to duplicate, if that service is running, I start a mission, hit eject (via the keyboard)....game crash. Goto SaiDOutput service and stop it, start another rmission eject or get shot down....NO CRASH I have played many games using this stick without any crash to desktop or exiting etc. But only 1 other game used the Directoutput...FSX Directoutput is buggy at best DCS shouldn't try to send anything to the stick anyways...that "RULLEZ !!!! SAITEK" does absolutely nothing except be annoying and cause crashes. I hope this gets removed before the English release of this game. The service should be able to run just fine IF the game doesnt tell it to do anything. If a dev or someone with knowlege of the inner working of the game could kindly tell me which file to delete or which LUA to edit so that I can remove support for the game sending stuff to the stick MFD. Haukka81 can you also try to disable that service and see if it fixes for you also?
20. At that high of resolution you would benefit from any dual GPU setup. I got this from tomshardware.com, been using it as a refrence for 10+ years.. I do have some misgivings with ATI as I've had 3 of their products over the years and have always had terrible driver support. 2 of 3 of their cards I've owned ended up with bad video memory after a few months and had to be replaced.. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Best PCIe Card For Over $350: Good 2560x1600 performance in most games, some with lowered detail In this author’s opinion, with exponentially increasing prices over $350 offering smaller and smaller performance increases, we have a hard time recommending anything more expensive than two Radeon HD 4850s. While the 4870, GTX 260 and GTX 280 perform impressively in multiple card configurations, there’s just not enough of a gain compared to two 4850s in Crossfire mode, unless you’re playing at resolutions beyond 1920x1200. Then again, while we often recommend against purchasing any graphics card more than $350 from a value point of view, there are those of you to whom money might not be much of an object, who can afford a 30” LCD monitor , and who require the best possible performance money can buy. For those of you, we recommend the Radeon HD 4870 X2, the fastest video card on the planet: -------------------------------------------------------------------- You can't go wrong with either 2 of the 4850's or 2 280's You'll need a big PSU. The thing is with dual GPU(or quad) is you will become CPU limited because it will not be able to process fast enough to keep these cards loaded up. You need a minimal of an x6800 extreme to feed these things the E8600 should be ok for this. On NewEgg you can get a quad core 9550 for $319.00 and the E8600 is $269.00 personally I'd go for the quadcore. Eventually the DCS engine will be upgraded to take advantage of multicore processors any way.
21. I was thinking about getting a 8" touchscreen to use for the ABRIS. Do you need touchbuddy to make this happen or can you just use the game to setup to display it and use it? Ideally I want to display the abris buttons also....thus the touchscreen.
22. Ok heres my crash logs so far. I don't believe they are related to the Saitek but who knows. Most of them are access violations that point to wRadio.dll,World.dll,MSVCR71.dll and ntdll.dll I don't have another joystick to test this, the dll's seem kind of random. Maybe someone who knows a bit more than us can take a look at these....
23. Many times in single and multiplayer the game crashes whenever the helicopter blows up or I crash. Mostly this happens when I've taken damage as a result of combat.Sometimes this happens if I'm being shot by bullets. If I just ram into the ground on takeoff or over torque and crash the blades together to crash it I can respawn with no problems. Every other aspect of the game is working perfectly. Strange.... The simulation exits and I get a crash message from Windows, the the game reloads back into the menu screen. I can jump right back in and fly again but have to rejoin server/refly mission. I couldn't find an error log in the game but I pulled this out of the Event Viewer in windows vista. It doesn't appear to be graphics related. Faulting application DCS.exe, version 1.0.0.0, time stamp 0x48f5b977, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x4791a783, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0002f8f4, process id 0x934, application start time 0x01c9543b696b2123.
24. Slayer

The countdown has begun....they are releasing very soon...about a 2 gig download
25. The reason you can connect is because it appears you are only connecting on the local network. Additional steps need to be done for others to be able to see it and connect to it via the internet. Anything that starts with a 192.168.xxx.xxx is a local only address you need to find the address that your modem is acutally using. Just to clarify...your router will have 2 IP addresses, 1 being the IP it uses being a DNS server on the local network and 1 it uses (through the modem) to communicate with the internet. Then do what the previous poster said. Another option to look into: My router has an option called "DMZ" - De Militrized Zone what that does its lets you pick 1 IP on the local network that will be exposed competly to the internet with no filtering at all. I use this so I can host games on my PC and run Teamspeak server etc without having to do anything else like port forwarding. When setting up with this you just set the IP of your Router as the IP for your server, all incoming connections for games etc then get routed to your server PC.Your routers setup webpage should have it's IP info somewhere.
