FPS and Mi-8: your experience?
eurofor replied to BaD CrC's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Haven't noticed any difference. -
Seems like the implementation will not allow it then. ED really should separate this as the sound varies between different types of aircraft.

Perhaps it's WIP but I'd like to know if the sound of firing rockets will be cranked up. Currently there's a very vague "shh" but the video below (at 0:14) suggests it should be more of a "swoooshh" when the ignited rocket motors blow past where you're sitting even over the noise of everything else. Don't know how much time has been spent thinking about this. Maybe the camera is picking up sounds that can't be heard under the crew helmets. This would however make firing rockets even more satisfying. And yes the video title says Mi-24 but the footage from inside is an Mi-8.

Stand up and be counted all ye Mi-8 operators

This thing is amazing. Thank you for your hard work Belsimtek, ED and everyone involved. It's really too cheap though but I hope it's adding up to make it worthwhile for you, because without you we wouldn't have this stunning piece of software. Whatever you will do next I will buy it. -
If the Mighty-8 is released today...

I was probably just a minute too late. Now it's completely stopped. Maybe I'll just download the torrents and reinstall everything anyway. -

Tempting but I don't want to bother with reinstalling everything. 0.3kB/s  -

Got it but still waiting for 1.2.6 -
This is very exciting news! While my first concern was the separation into a different core, I have read/skimmed through most of the pages and the more I think about it I think it probably doesn't matter so much. They'll surely figure out what's best as they go. The one thing I can't wait for is the Bf-109. Also hoping we'll see different versions of it (G-6/U4 ).

Was wondering about this but that makes sense.

The only information available (of which I'm not sure of the source) says they will not re-create the Caucasus/Georgia map. My developer mind tells me maintaining separate standards with all the extra work that requires probably makes less business sense than releasing a map like Nevada for free and scrapping the old IG and map. Since I don't want to be stuck in Nevada until they release the next map I have asked about this and got this answer which I hope is correct: If ED is thinking about it, I would vote for a life-extension of the current map and if possible as you suggest a widening of the area as well (Nagorno-karabakh would be interesting). To me, there really isn't a more interesting region in the world than what we already have, especially for the Su-25 which remains my favourite aircraft.

"Attention" A website for passionate pilots!.
eurofor replied to Baracuda's topic in Military and Aviation
It's a good site. I've got their phone app that allows you to point the phone at an aircraft and get the available data on it. On the same subject, see this site http://www.liveatc.net/ which enables you to listen to ATC. I usually have it running while flying in DCS. Even though what they're saying is irrelevant it still adds realistic background chatter for immersion. -
Difficult to find information on that. Some sources say possibly 8 but the only official source says 6.

You are thinking of the TM, not SM. Don't you think Georgia's NATO aspirations have more to do with the westernised avionics rather than it being random? It was not merely an attempt. They have produced them and even exported them. I think you will appreciate the differences between them. It's not for nothing that the T is known as the flying brick in this forum.

The Su-25 overshadows everything else in DCS. You won't regret it. :joystick:

That's a really nice collection of vehicles and weapons. It just occurred to me how interesting Combined Arms will be in WWII setting. :)
