  1. You'll just get an automatic update to your existing install of the "normal" DCS: World.
  2. Yes, you have it. There are always two different versions of DCS: World in play: * DCS: World is the latest stable build. * DCS: World (Open Beta) is more up to date, but there are no guarantees of stability and it's likely to contain bugs. You can have both installed at the same time if you wish. At the moment, the upgraded Su-27 module (which is free to owners of FC3) is only available in the open beta install. It will become available in the "normal" install within the next few weeks.
  3. Hey guys, There are a few fairly fundamental navigation and trim questions that I'm currently struggling with in the continued absence of the full manual. Any help that anyone can provide would be hugely appreciated. :helpsmilie: All of these questions relate to my attempts to play Airwar's Mi8 TOOTALL Mi8 UH v3.2 mission. OK... here goes: ARK-9 How can I listen to the station signal? I managed to use the ARK-9 to guide me to the LZ QUEBEC FARP, but I couldn't find a way to hear the signal. [*]Which volume controls are needed? "Listening Volume" on the main radio panel? "Common Volume" on the main radio panel? "Gain" on the ARK-9 panel? [*]Where do I "stop" the volume controls? None of the volume controls seem to have a "stop", so they all just rotate endlessly. Is there a "right" place to stop them? [*]What does the TLF/TLG switch on the far left of the ARK-9 panel do? ARK-UD How do I check that the ARK-UD is correctly configured and functional? I've flown the TOOTALL mission multiple times and I've yet to ever see a signal on the ARK-UD, despite spending hours in the SAR zone. It's entirely possible that my instrument isn't correctly configured, but I have no idea how to check. P-828 & JADRO 1A Are these two pieces of equipment relevant to navigation and, if so, how? I'm not looking for an in-depth explanation, but a quick overview would be really helpful. "DRIFT" DISPLAY What does the "drift" dial directly below the co-pilot's ADI do? There was a moment when I was approaching the QUEBEC FARP when this instrument started displaying a distance (looked like DME) reading of 207km and falling. This didn't seem to align to the distance to the ARK-9 signal I was tracking. It was stranger for the fact that the doppler(?) equipment at the back right of the co-pilot's chair wasn't powered up. TRIM DIALS Do these reset when they pass 0? Similar to the radio dials, the trim dials just rotate endlessly. Do they just infinitely add more trim? Do they cap out a 9 and not add any more after that? Do they reset as they reach 0? I appreciate that this is a whole bunch of questions, but any help that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated as these questions have become more and more frustrating to me over the past few weeks. Teach me your wisdom, guys. :smartass:
  4. Link's working fine here. Unfortunately, the sound's working fine, too.
  5. You do realize that it's only just 7am in Moscow and that this issue has been going on while they're all asleep, right?
  6. Looks like there's almost as many password request emails as there are brand new threads about the exact same thing... ;)
  7. I agree that this is a little confusing, but I think the important bit is "The images of this newsletter come from a very early, first pass of the NTTR map in DCS World 2." This lines up with the comment a couple of sentences earlier "In fact, the NTTR map has been successfully integrated into DCS World 2" What I take from this is that it's only an "early first pass" in the sense that it's only just been integrated into the new engine. Could be totally wrong, though.
  8. Nobody knows yet. ED hasn't released any info about if/when development tools will be released into the hands of modders and, if/when they do, what form those tools will take.
  9. Whoa! That is totally outstanding work! Very exciting!
  10. Probably wouldn't make much sense to show it in the context of the entire US. Looking at Google maps and ballparking it using the relative positions of Nellis and Groom Lake as guides, it appears that the map is about 1/2 the total size of Nevada. If you want an equally rough visual approximation, just take HALF of the red section of this map:
  11. Excellent. Thanks a lot for the update, EB. Much appreciated.
  12. I remember those days. With great fondness, too. My first "sims" were on the Acorn Electron and written in Basic. They were absolutely terrible, but I was obsessed with them at the time. I never imagined that we'd reach DCS quality in my lifetime, so I tend to be very positive and enthusiastic about what we currently have in out hands. :pilotfly::joystick:
  13. Only if you're Russian. For us English speakers, there's only the Quick Start manual.
  14. Good to hear that this is finally being addressed. Still desperately looking forward to the proper Mi-8 manual. I try really hard to be patient and upbeat, but it's been over a year since I bought the Mi-8 and I'm starting to get pretty frustrated at still not having enough documentation to be able to understand and perform basic functionality such as navigation. I'm hugely impressed with Belsimtek and really want to see them continuing to develop and release excellent modules, but the lack of documentation is a massive frustration for me. I appreciate that I'm unlikely to get an answer on this, but is there any possibility of ballpark release date for the full English manual? Pretty please.
  15. Erm... no there isn't. (Or if there is, then everyone that frequents this forum has been making horrible fools of themselves for months!) :D Anyway, thanks for your efforts, Tempest. Much appreciated.
  16. Excellent work, Devrim. Hugely useful and very much appreciated.
  17. Whoa! That looks amazing! Can't wait! :)
  18. Might be an obvious question, but have you played through the tutorial? It's only 10 minutes long and I haven't had any issues firing the S-24 in either mode (locked or unlocked). I'd provide more details, but I'm in work and can't remember the exact steps for launching.
  19. Nah. We're all incredibly friendly, loveable and fun to be around. :chair: Admit it - you missed us all... :D
  20. We've all missed you terribly over the last 18 hours or so.
  21. You need to read the section that EtherealN quoted again. It does actually contain the relevant info.
  22. Make sure that your wheel brakes aren't defaulting to ON if you're using a rudder with wheel brakes. I suffered from that from a while when I first got the F-15. I was constantly blowing out my tires on take off until I realised that I needed to invert the axis.
  23. Every time I see this thread, my heart sinks and I die a little inside. :)

  25. miYou need to use RALT+/ as opposed to just /. / is just used when you've got Easy Communications checked. If you're not using easy communications, you need to use RALT+/ (or RCTL+/ or RSHFT+/ - I'm not at the PC to check at the moment). Scrolling through the key assignments for the aircraft is question should give you the answer pretty quickly. Alternatively, just try all three until you get the one that actually works. :) In terms of the 21 bis, I suspect that you might be missing something. If you provide a *.trk file, smarter people than me might be able to diagnose what's going wrong.
