  1. Yeah, I agree. It was a great change of pace to have a slightly more lighthearted, friendly and human approach to tutorialization for a change. I don't think it would work if every module took this approach, but it makes for a nice change of pace with the Mig-21 and potentially establishes a unique personality for Leatherneck's products. Approved.
  2. I have to say that I'm hugely impressed at the quality, thoroughness and professionalism of the manual. If the aircraft follows suit (and the previews suggest that it really does), we're going to be in for an absolute treat. Excellent work, guys!
  3. I think that's a valid suggestion, but it sucks that we (potentially) have to make the rest of the game look much worse in order to be able to see the HUD.
  4. Perhaps you should read the announcement before jumping to conclusions.
  5. Oh God! I'd totally want that to be optional. They used to have that in the old Rowan sims like Battle of Britain and Mig Alley and I hated it with a passion. I love being able to freely look around the cockpit, but I like being able to properly frame my external views with the TrackIR causing all kinds of unexpected and unintentional secondary movement.
  6. Probably. (Dependent on how they choose to bundle the various F/A-18-related content). From the DCS 2.0 section of the newsletter: No issues with that from my side.
  7. I'd be very surprised if it was Afghanistan. They'd have to build huge tracts of Iran and/or Pakistan just to fill in the space between the carrier and the target country. I don't see ED being that ambitious in their scope at this point.
  8. I take that as incontrovertible proof that we've been living with the Caucasus map for waaaaaaaay too long. :D
  9. That is THE MOST STUPIDLY EXCITING NEWSLETTER EVER!!! :pilotfly::joystick: That is all.
  10. This. I also wonder if there's the possibility of using this tech to address the on-going challenges around spotting enemy units at range. Sharply in-focus aircraft against an otherwise soft-focus distant environment could be a good way to "punch out" objects of importance in the environment. It would certainly be a step above the current everything's-at-the-same-level-of-focus limitation. If I'm diving from 30,000ft towards an aircraft at 20,000ft, I would expect that the nearer object would be in sharper focus - contrasting it against the ground below. I'm not suggesting any dynamism in the system (i.e. I'm not suggesting that the ground should come in or out of focus as aircraft pass into or out of the camera frustum), but visual contrast based on physical distance could be very valuable. May not be possible given that it's a post-effect, but it's a thought...
  11. I would LOVE to see a Mig-23 done to the (apparent) level of the LN Mig-21. Definite Day One buy.
  12. Absolutely. I have no issues with that at all. It would just be nice to know that it's on ED's radar (even though I have no expectation that we'll ever get confirmation of anything like that).
  13. I totally agree on the visibility of planes. This is an issue that desperately needs to be addressed.
  14. Likewise. I'm stupid enough that I'd happily pay even more than that! :hehe:
  15. Excellent! Thanks Matt!
  16. I found that I had to tweak my Warthog Pitch and Roll curves to about 15 in order to get a good level of control. That seems to have resolved the challenges for me. I haven't had to change the rudder settings at all.
  17. Playing with the new F-86 Sabre last night really drove this issue home for me. There's a fantastic many vs many furball mission included with it, but it's utterly impossible to see the enemy Migs beyond point blank range. I ended up having to use labels, which I hate as they totally destroy immersion for me. :( Smart Scaling or another similar approach feels desperately needed, IMHO.
  18. I'd be extremely surprised if ED was willing to address this (aside from the bug that Skate referred to). The icons exist as a means of constantly tweaking that "collector" mindset - breaking down your willpower until you eventually buy. :)
  19. You're very much like me in that regard. :) The Mi-8 is a joy to fly without so much as a hint of combat. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
  20. I am SOOOOO hating this. :( (Where "this" is the fact that I'm stuck in the office for at least the next five hours). :D Jealous...
  21. "Authorisation" is the correct English spelling. It's only in the US that it's spelled with a "z". When Europeans translate into English, they use the English spelling - not the American version.
  22. To be fair, that thread is actually about EDGE not 2.0.0. EDGE is part of 2.0.0 for sure, but it's already been stated by SithSpawn that there's a lot more to 2.0.0 than just EDGE. Regardless, I'm really looking forward to the F-86 and I'm hoping that the Hawk sneaks in soon, too. :) I want to get excited about the Dora (and I backed the Kickstarter at $150), but I'm really not that into WWII aircraft at all.
  23. Sleep tight, Tango... ...then back to the Code Mines with you! :director:
  24. Yeah, I think the Hawk is the more likely candidate. I'm fairly sure that Cobra was saying that the -21 is being held off until 2.0.0. Pman and Tango, on the hand, have openly stated that they were looking at 1.2.9 for the Hawk (as long as the legal issues get resolved). I think my facts are right, here. If not, I'll come back and correct. :)
