  1. I have done some more testing, it looks like it's the bunker that's the problem, the structure must dig in the ground and the JTAC lases the very bottom of the object (when i said 0ft AGL i thought the bunker didn't go underground), tried it with a BMP and it worked fine. The screenshot below is where the JTAC lased even thought i had placed him further away on a hill.
  2. No, the JTAC simply has to be a few feet over the targets altitude, lets say you have a 5 foot High bunker at 100ft MSL, the roof or the bunker will be at 5 feet AGL, 105ft MSL, if the JTAC is at 100ft MSL and there are no bumps (even a 1foot rise) in between him and the target then it'll work, because the JTAC will lase the centerpoint of the target at 0ft AGL or in our case 100ft MSL, but if there is, the laser will hit it and won't be on target.
  3. JTACs in DCS lase the centerpoint of a target at 0ft AGL, done some tests, looks like your this JTAC in your mission is lasing the ground, if you put it next to the bunker, or even a few feet higher it will work correctly. Yes, the first one was a terrible drop ^^
  4. 12mm at what range ? I mean it's not modeled in DCS but i'd like to know.
  5. Haven't seen anyone playing alone for quite some time. Meh, just a Little bit, and it wouldn't make you win, simply stall the campaign. Thought it WILL drive players off, if you make a 1 to 4 player difference limit before stopping progression, It's either linear (2 for 8 ), basicly no difference to the current situation or disrupt (2 for 6 lets Say, 3 for 7,...), if alot if people want to play blue, the progression will stop, you might not care but you will bother people trying to push, if people don't want to go in red then they'll leave. This idea has flaws (all of them do) and it is going to be a nightmare to code. Simply limiting players would not allow groups to join in most of the time,... It's better to leave things as they are, why do you think no noticable servers have made such a system ? There's more then JUST that reason why players leave, it's not even at the top of the list if you ask me, i don't leave because there is and armada in front, i defend and trying to push becomes secondary, usually with a little bit of help (1-2 players, depending on the threats) we manage to do so and reinforce. EDIT : DCS is not a "common" multiplayer game.
  6. So the campaign would never move, neither side manages to push when the amount of player is equal, people would also log off to prevent objectives from being captured, and if you make this margin too high, then it won't make any differences. Whatever you do, player count will go down. This benefits to both teams, recently it benefited to the blue side but for the first two rounds it was for the reds.
  7. It does not make any sense that a pilot would have to press this button to see where and what is engaging him, you don't see the spike anymore in search mode off too, so if you don't have time to push this button, you have NO IDEA where to go, you might be turning into the ennemy.
  8. Depends on how you see things but the tail wind definetely helped my A-10 get to minevody fast enought before a second convoy arrived :D
  9. A one afternoon victory would mean that it took us 1 afternoon to go from the base layout to minevody, taking all of the objectives in the way. Wich was not the case at all, took 6 days do get there. And the objectives weren't equal at all, you already had lost the hole moutain area and center of the map. (Front line objective was bylym, very much towards red side.) You are not going to fix the problem of having unequal teams except if you add a player balance mechanism, wich would further reduce population on the server, as people in groups won't be able to join the same team and people who simply want to go in red or blue might not be able to. Blueflag has the same problem and there is a good reason why it's not fixed. As for that Ka-50, he could have spawned on nalchik and headed for the farp bylym, if you don't read the briefing and/or don't look at the slot list then it's not going to help.
  10. First of all there was more then just this one night and second it's always like this when a campaign is won, i mean last camapign i was checking the map and there was 6-7 red players for no blue players. No blue players bitched about it because we know it's normal, it's a problem but you can't limit the player difference, people that come to play in clans don't want to fight each other, nor do players that have friends in front.
  11. Nice to hear ! Good luck with those ^^.
  12. Hello guys, I've been flying the gazelle for a while now and i've found some issues with Mistral and M variant (didn't really fly the L that much, as very specific missions are required for it). Some are esthetics, some are issues, some are not very important, i'll start with the M variant, 1 - Viviane camera missing when in cockpit view, already reported a while back (https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=178621&highlight=Viviane), not very important but still. 2 - Viviane elevation/ left, right indicators not working, it seems to always indicate down, i think it used to work but i can't remember, if this behavior is normal then please let me know :). 3 - Multicrew syncing weird behavior, now i know this is probably on EDs side of things but if anything can be done to improve it, that would be a defenitive plus. The camera, after operating for a while, moves all over the place when inputing rudder, but if you restart it, it's fine, at least for the next 5 minutes,... Seems like it accumulates errors, then just gives up Gazelle Mistral, 1 - Mistral missiles since the last update have become worse, much worse, i used to be able to lock (from the rear, should be all aspect, wich is another bug but apparently can't be fixed by polychop, so i'm not going to go over it again) a fighter sized target about 5 miles away, now i loose lock at 2ish miles, goes up to 6 if it's afterburning, this depends on alot of factors but i'm almost possitive they've became worse. 2 - This is more of a question, is the plastic shroud supposed to still be attached to the pods when the missile has been launched ? like this 3 - Again, making an assumption, isn't there supposed to be a volume knob for the mistral tone ? Seems logical to have one, no idea if it actually has one, would be nice to know. Common to Gazelle L and Mistral, 1 - FM radio backlight texture too big, not very important, it is worse on 2.1 thought, this bug does not affect the gazelle M as the FM radio is not in the same spot ^^. 2 - Left pylons / Right pylons arm switches, assumption once again, aren't they supposed to go in the off position when the red covers are closed ? Also the hitbox to turn them in the on position is accesible even if the red covers are shut. That last part isn't very important. 3 - Weapons control pannel "Standby" position not doing anything, in the standby position, i'm still able to fire missiles or whatever is have on board, don't know if it's supposed to be like that. Common to all gazelle version : 0 - Flight model :D Just kidding. 1 - Radar altimeter warning, question here, is it only this lightbulb, no audio warning, it's not really necessary as the pilot can keep an eye on it easely but just wanted to know. 2 - RWR CROC, does anyone know what it's supposed to do and if it's working at this moment ? Or will it be implemented later ? 3 - UV backlight working without battery, ground power, alternator, generator on. I suppose that's a bug. 4 - Radio selector knob, more of a request then a bug, would be nice to have, all of the other helos have it, adds immersion. And last but not least 5 - Intercoms volume level rotative, would be nice to have, just for immersion, when using the gazelle in multicrew with SRS. Maybe the Mistral Tone volume knob could be on this panel too. Most of them aren't that important but even if those are small details they shouldn't be left out uncorrected (at least for the ones that are indeed bugs or uncorrect behaviors), small details can break the immersion and/or the feel of the aircraft :(. Anyways, thanks for reading this book :D. Regards, Rex. PS : absolutely love the gazelle, love the work you guys have done on it, to be clear this is no "everything is broken and i'm mad" post, just someone who likes when things are tidy and well sorted, doesn't take any of the joy that is flying this aircraft away thought :).
  13. Same behavior here, head on with a Mirage, same altitude, level flight, we both launched, neither of us saw the spike or the launch warning.
  14. Clouds are not synced properly in multiplayer, that's why it doesn't really work, but in singleplayer, it's kinda working, most of the clouds appear, but of course it's not perfect, without weather filter, with weather filter, Way better then it used to be. Goodnight, Rex.
  15. It is affected by hills and moutains. i'll report on Mantis hub the clutter not being correctly represented. And BST, while modelling the ground clutter nicely, forgot about clouds and chaffs ^^.
  16. very intresting, that explains the clutter when diving then (if i understood well).
  17. The option has to do with the user, not with the mission. Everyone uses it at their convenience. While being the equivalent of a paper map, it's still less immersive then a proper unit in your cockpit. You won't have any or at least very few features with the F10 map that a GPS provides. A garmin gps unit requires power, that's about all that i could think you'd need to run it, you don't need a proper HSI, you do need wiring to the antennas,... That's exactly what was done with the Mi-8. To sum up, why wouldn't you want one in the Huey, F-5,... If you don't like it's usefull and/or not realistic then just don't buy it/disable it. I'm still going to be using a good old clock and maths in the F-5 during mission nights at the VEAF, but when i'm on a multiplayer server or in a more modern mission i might use the GPS.
  18. The fact that no Huey used a Garmin 430 in any conflict doesn't mean it couldn't realisticly have this equipement in a more modern conflict, it's of course not purposely built for military use but still. And you will still be able to do so by not buying or by deativating the GPS in the settings for the Huey. I'd like to know how the F10 map is less fictional then a working, complex GPS unit that can be fitted to any aircraft that has space for it and the antennas ^^. EDIT : SAR requires that kind of precision, and as you showed, it was used for such a purpose.
  19. Nice hearing from a dev ! Hope you guys manage to fix the remaining problems with the F-5, still is about the most enjoyable aircraft i've bought and i'm glad it's still being worked on .
  20. If i may add my humble opinion ^^, it would be nice to have SAMs on the hill north of senaki to prevent sneaky interceptors waiting for blues to take off, Nalchik is defended in this manner, one on the airfield and one remote Midrange SAM down south. And of course they'd need to work, obviously :).
  21. Try to land on an airfield that just got nuked :D.
  22. Yes, but the game engine might not support it very well, anyways, fact is that nukes are useless and they create an "invisible" crater. I'm simply wondering if nukes will ever work or at least do something with the current game engine ^^.
  23. Couldn't reproduce it either. You guys should force the update to be sure or run a repair.
  24. The effect breaks off at ~12k feet, wich makes sense since this is about the altitude where clutter starts to disapear alltogether. Same altitude as another Mig-21 flying in front (to test for antenna stab). Level, the contact is in the clutter a little bit to the left. 10° dive, contact is still there, in the clutter, but i've got returns from the ground, far. 20°, contact is still here, clutter all over the place. It all depends on how much the antenna can tilt up and down and how big the cone is, the "radar field was limited to 20° vertically" taken from wikipedia page on the RP-21, not sure if it's cone + tilt or just tilt, is it 10° up, 10° down tilt only,..... Many questions :D. EDIT : Two screenshots are gone for good :/
  25. Usually the faster you go the more lift you create, the more effective your control surfaces are, but that depends on wing, surface position and design. In the F-5, the ailerons are quite small, so at low speed it will feel slugish, but speed up to mach 1 and it's much more reactive. And it can be pushed even further as there is a limiter that can be deactivated for ailerons ^^.
