Thanks again. Maybe I'm not explaining myself too well here. All my user folders are located by Windows on OneDrive by right-clicking on the folder and selecting 'Change Location'.. So, for example Pictures folder is actually located at C:\Users\imack\OneDrive\Pictures and Windows sees it as such. Same with 'Saved Games'. All works perfectly with all apps including your Utility v1. With v2, I have set the custom user folder and the backup folder to the correct location as you can see from the attachments. You can also see from the 3rd attachment that the utility sees the Saved Game folder perfectly OK in OneDrive. So, the DCS functions work OK, and your folder for the log files and settings also work OK at the locations specified. But, the backup one doesn't and that is the issue. The utility creates a folder C:\Users\imack\Saved Games\DCS Updater Utility\Backup which is not the one specified in 'Custom User Profile' where your log files and settings are stored.

In-Game Scratchpad Mod Available - Works Great In VR!
imacken replied to Fubarbrickdust's topic in Virtual Reality
Thanks for this. It would be so good if you could incorporate the Insert function used in ScratchpadPlus that automatically inserts the coords directly into the Hornet as a waypoint. Any chance of looking at that? At the moment, both versions are required. -
Thanks Skate. It's not so much the actual backup as such (which I haven't tried yet), it's the fact that your utility creates the folder that I showed in the attachment above on startup containing the backup folder which is not the one specified in-app. There is no backup folder in the location specified in-app.

1) re not working on startup until a scan is done, I have attached a log file. I don't see any errors or hangs. 2) OneDrive folders are not the issue I don't think as your utility recognises the Saved Game folders which are relocated by Windows to OneDrive and it is also happy accepting the OneDrive folder for your log files and settings as per the graphic I posted. What it doesn't do, is accept the specified backup folder as you are creating one in a location I have not specified, again as shown in the attachment above. The path chosen does not fully show in the UI, but I assume that you have restricted the number of characters that can be shown. 3) It's not so much the black backgrounds that are hard to read, it's just that in 4K, the text is so small in places that it is almost impossible to read. The ability to stretch the window would be a solution to this. ED Updater Utility v2.zip

IMO, even in VR, it's a lot easier to press the spacebar than having to repeat lessons over and over, or to hit the escape or pause button.

Thanks for that. Really useful mod. Didn't know about that. Certainly helps with some TMs - including the ones here - but still awkward with the big message box on screen when trying to look at as display being described. I really don't understand why there is not a standard format with TMs in terms of the mechanics. I am quite an experienced DCS player, but for new pilots, TMs are a very valuable tool and I know that they can be frustrating to use at times. Lots of modules are almost perfect, but a lot are not.
-
Thanks but not really true in general. Take the A-A Radar. You describe things like range and symbols on screen, but it's impossible to look at the MFD even once before your descriptive text disappears. Also, the wait for button/switch also doesn't work a lot of the time. Take the same TM, when you give the instruction to select left MFD, do nothing, and see how you say 'great' (or something similar) and move on without anything being pressed.

No, as that would throw out all other modules which look OK. The main cockpit is fine, it's just the MPDs that I find too dark and that's with their brightness setting at full.
-
I have the opposite issue. I feel the displays are too dark!
-
I hardly ever use VR for TMs, but when I do, I must say I find the space bar easy to find - unlike all the other keys!

My biggest gripe about these latest BD TMs is that the instructions/messages disappear so quickly that it is often totally impossible to complete reading them far less attempt to look at the instrument/function in the cockpit being described. The more traditional approach of 'Press Spacebar to Continue' would have been a better way to go, IMO. Again, just personal opinion, but I also think BD has gone too far with the shortening/simplifying approach. I agree that his Harrier TMs were far too detailed, but somewhere the middle ground between them and what we have for the F-15 would be better. What do you guys think?

Before any DCS update, always uninstall mods in OMM then reinstall when update is done. In your case, just uninstall and reinstall.
-
Sure, but there is just too much to work through IMO. I'll stick to your nice concise set of data.
-
The first thing I do after every DCS update is delete all that stuff from the Nevada, Caucasus and South Atlantic kneeboards! To me it's just clutter. I use Minsky's incredibly useful airport data from here https://forum.dcs.world/topic/269908-aerodrome-data-and-frequencies

Surely not being able to see your six is just a sensitivity setting issue. I have no problem seeing my six with a yaw sensitivity of 2.0 in GameHub.

reported Confusion with non-CW and CW control bindings bug and workaround
imacken replied to imacken's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yes, it's the exact same situation. It happens in the OB and Stable versions. So, the workaround is basically the same as the Spitfire. You need to copy the folder from Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\Input\P-51D-30-NA to Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\Input\P-51D and pretty sure you'll have to do that every time you make a bind change. I might be wrong there as I don't use the P-51 often. Post in the P-51 bugs forum and link to this thread. Maybe after a year we'll get some action on this. -
If you’ve got any specific issues, then just post them here or in the Virpil forums.
