Normandy, OAT set to mid 20s
-
Fiesler Storch/ Laysander light type. . . But, yeah, a mid-late war twin-engined German level bomber. Even if that just meant adding level bombing to the existing Ju-88, I'd be fine with that. The only other type I think would be cool would be transport (C47/ JU52)
-
Looks like I just need to be more patient and wait :)
-
It's possible that a few times I didn't... but overall, I'd say around 97% of the time, yes.
-
Even with the radiators closed, it seems for me to take an age to get the Anton up to the 30 degrees required for more than 1400rpm as per the manual, even with OAT set to the low-mid 20 Celsius. Anybody else find this also?

There are very specific reasons why we have 30 seconds, but that won't become clear until more server features are rolled out. Friendly aircraft reports are not supposed to be delayed.... last time I tested they were instantaneous. . . -

Many hundreds of them, for 3 or 4 months since we've been tracking player stats. I'm not defending SoW specifically. I'm just countering false claims with the only data I have access to, which just happens to be SoW data. I am sure LDFM has similar numbers, their server is also very popular, and many players fly on both. -
Re-iterating this request . . . .

Well, this is just total nonsense. A total of 719 unique pilots have joined the Storm of War server so far this month - that's just one WW2 server. -

A delay has been added to the in-mission radar script. This delay is still far shorter than the "real time" information lag from WW2, but it brings us a little closer to a more realistic RADAR output. Obviously, the best information will always come from a human player doing GCI (JaFü or KENWAY), so players are advised to take advantage of SRS and tune in to the human controllers when they are online. -

Rob, I totally get this. Unfortunately, being in the position where we would only have 1 type on the German side (the Anton), thanks to ED's choice of modules, would frustrate me . . . All we can do is hope for the G6, and lobby ED to dedicated resources to it as soon as possible. That would solve a myriad of problems. -
It depends on the modules. You need the map, if the server has the map. You need the WW2 assets pack, if the server runs the assets pack. You ONLY need the aeroplane that you want to fly, you don't need to own ALL the flyable modules on the server.

No, I am not saying that. No. What I am saying is this: The current SoW missions are set in June 1944. Neither the Dora, nor the K4 existed at that time. So, the 109-K4 and the Dora without MW-50 are currently acting as stand-ins for currently missing aircraft such as the 109-G6 and other F.W- variants [G-8 & F8] . Once those modules are released, the 109-K4 and the FW190-D9 will be removed from the server entirely, so you can fly on it, knowing that it won't upset your deep desire for historicity. Exactly the same would be done if there were ways to compensate for a couple of the slightly-post June 1944 allied aircraft too. If it were possible to disable the gyro-sight on the P-51, this would be done by server admins, as it is a post Jun 1944 feature. But, as it stands currently, ED/DCS does not allow us to do that. Likewise with the P47, once the three variants of the P47 are released, SoW will only have the oldest of the 3, which I understand will be the D-28. The strictly historical alternative would be to remove the K4 an the D9 now, completely, and to have only the FW-190 A8 on the server for the blue side. But this would simply limit the choice too much, and many people do not have the Anton. When we get around to August 1944 missions, then the MW-50 powered Dora will be "historical" for the map. The K-4 will never be historical for the Normandy map, because by the time the K-4 was operational, the battle had moved well to the north and east. In any case, thanks for stimulating this discussion and helping to push the server to the top of the thread list. The visibility is appreciated. -

Hi, i would be great if we could get a single powered light for the Mission Editor as a unit. A great option would be the "Bartow Beacon" https://patents.google.com/patent/US2155295 These were small portable lights used to light runways. "WW2 Line Material Co. Bartow HILV (high intensity, low visability) runway approach beacon" https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/ww2-army-air-corp-runway-approach-469830927 Here is a whole page dedicated to Aviation lenses: https://uslhs.org/aviation-lenses

If you want to be able to have aircraft visible through clouds and through the cockpit metal (i.e through your seat) then yeah, go for it. The dots make it impossible to hide, visually though - because they mark an aeroplane no matter where it is (behind a cloud, under your seat) so if you want sensible WVR combat then dots are a joke. -
See the mission linked below. NOTE: The bug ONLY shows when: 1. The mission is hosted in multiplayer 2. The mission is hosted on a server with DCS rendering turned OFF (i..e with he dedicated server tool) 3. The mission start time is set before 0500 in the morning. You should see that the mission I have linked below starts in the afternoon. The AI aircraft and units/ flak do appear to activate when they should (AI aircraft will engage each other and flak will fire). Then, change the start time to anything before 0500. Now the AI will NOT engage hostiles at all, either before 0500 or if you allow the mission to continue running past 0500. download link - from google drive: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1f_imKWio83YJun_Mv0e7iZ59AoVwSgFL/view?usp=sharing

You can set this yourself already... Don't use the zoom then.. . and buy a full wrap around 1:1 screen/ display that that what you look at is exactly the same size and angle as a real life view.
