  1. +1. Vietnam MedEvac was awesome in terms of flight modeling comparing to most other helo sims I've played, apart from DCS:BS off course :)
  2. DCS:BS kicks some serious butts, and I'm not surprised at all. Fantastic job ED!
  3. The problem will be solved if a) ED adds 8 instead of 4 ways the SHKVAL can be moved or b) override the standard 8-way hatswitch to only be a 4-way hatswitch.
  4. It sounds like you havent set engine power to AUTO (by hitting PageUp twice) during start-up after your both engines have reached 70%. Never tried flying with external tanks, so can't help you on that sorry.

  8. Vikhrs are stored on the OUTER hardpoints, so your argument doesn't make any sense. :) That sounds more correct ;)
  9. When you're in a vortex ring state, lower collective and tilt nose forward to gain speed.
  10. Speaking of hardpoints and vikhr.. What's the reason why you can't have missiles on the inner hardpoints? It would be too easy? :P Just think of having 24 vikhrs on your chopper :D (If I'm EXTREMELY lucky I can hit 2 ground targets with 40 SA-8 ) EDIT : No complaints about the SA-8 though, it's just me who suck at firing them
  11. Lets take a look at third party developers for MSFSX for instance. You'll find some serious good products from Carenado, PMDG and RealAir for instance. If I can get the same quality add ons in DCS I will gladly pay for it.

  13. I was on a campaign mission last night, went back to the FARP to rearm, switched radio to ground crew and asked for ANTI-tank rearming, and the answer from the ground crew was "What are you doing?". But I got my weapons onboard and they followed with the standard "Rearming complete".
  14. Collision detection is not graphics hardware dependent, but CPU dependent. You need a CPU to compute whether you have hit an object or not. Believe me, you will not be able to get close to any smooth FPS if DCS should compute collision detection on trees even if you have a cutting edge computer.

  17. Is the DCS engine open source, in terms of allowing third party developers to create new theatres/geographical regions? If yes, is it likely to believe that we may see add-ons on i.e. simmarket.com?

  19. Well, then you could probably load up Lomac, which is far more realistic when it comes to air-to-air than SimCopter comes to realistic SAR. This is just a silly argument. Just think of the new dimension it would add to DCS if you can be a combat chopper pilot doing troop insertions, rescue operations, recognizance missions, etc. I believe many people in this forum enjoys AVIATION as much as blowing up things. And CSAR missions needs much more piloting skills in terms of FLYING than standard CAS missions.

  22. get your chopper into hover manually by using the trimmer. Then initiate auto hover. This requires some skill, and the only way to get it is by practicing
  23. Well, after I upgraded the drivers for my Saitek, the program feature mode have disappeared, so I now only can assign commands in-game. I really liked this systray app where you could load different profiles, etc.
  24. From what I've understand reading previous posts, the real SHKVAL is operated by a little joysick with axes. The harder the pilot pushes the stick, the faster it slews
  25. indeed, search function is my friend, however I didn't find any useful information in that thread since it was too focused on trackir, which I don't find useful to use as targetting things. Anyways, I do know now at least that this is an issue that (hopefully) ED are aware of.
