When I was in the airforce 12 years ago I heard a story with the use of AIM-120 Amraam. If I can recall correctly, during the Gulf War 4 planes where shot down with this missile; 3 foes and one friendly. So these things happens.

I must disable SLI, since my computer crashes whenever i hover my mouse over a button in the menu (launcher) if SLI is enabled. Allthough it works if I'm not using fullscreen though, but thats out of the question for me anyways.

That was a good idea actually!

Problem firing missiles in realistic mode
d0ppler replied to roybaty's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
your "pipper" must be within the shkval spot, then you'll see a "C" in your hud. press and hold the fire button and enjoy the mayhem :) -
If you do a search for this topic on this forum, you'll find some very good reading that justifies the "ghost" trees. And I believe using tree as tactical aids from a helicopter pilot perspective is not that usual as you might think it is. here : http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=34398&highlight=trees

me too, a very nice resource and I am actually suprprised I didn't find this PDF in the installation folder

Heh, I accidentally managed to blow up two friendly tanks last night during the campaign. I understood it right away that I killed the wrong tanks and since I didn't wanted that particular "achievement" on my record, I took the most unrealistic remedy : I killed the DCS.exe process from the task manager and reflew the mission :D

Yeah, the trimming works better with a force feedback joystick, just make sure to enable back ForceFeedbackEnabled = true; in the .\config\Producer.cfg. ;) Too bad there arent any high quality force feedback joysticks in production anymore.

Very nice, using it all the time. However, I disagree with point 2 under shutdown sequences: this point should be after when the engines have been shutdown because neutralizing the cyclig stick in windy conditions while the engines are running can be fatal. At least if you're not looking outside the window ;)

You will find this maual (and a quick start guide) under Start -> Program Files -> Black Shark.

hmm, will see if I can find my MSFB2 stick and give it a try tonight.

Yeah, I must admit I miss some kind of visual indicator of the wind direction when landing at an airbase. A wind sock can't be that hard to implement I guess.

I've taken some photos from RC Jet event, here is the Hog in 1/10 scale (or something):

I am using the Saitek X52 system along with the gas and breaking pedals from my Sidewinder Force feedback wheel for rudder control. It's working pretty nice but I'm looking for a joystick with force feedback to get the trimmer function more realistic. It would also be nice to have a "real" collective stick with many buttons instead of the standard throttle stick. So whats the most ultimate commercial alternative out there for chopper simming? EDIT : sorry for posting this under wrong category, and thanks to the admin that moved it to the correct!

if the flight plan doesn't contain more than 3 turning points you obviously can't go to point 4, 5 or 6, but that's not probably the case?

I guess it's the indicated airspeed (IAS) you'll read from the airspeed gauge.

it is indeed a bug. like what grodin says, it happens when you hit the esc-button and goes back again. At least for us with trackir.

That's so true. The continous dynamic campaign in F4 was truly awesome and you felt like a little piece in a huge puzzle. I actually thought that feature was ment to be implemented in the initial release of DCS. ..and Mathias Rust is one of my greatest aviation heroes of all time :pirate:

I have extremely fun trying to tame the shark atm, but my wish/priority list would be probably something like this: 1. Bell 412 (I want to do troop insertions, SAR missions, etc. not blowing everything up! :).. yeah, yeah, I know you got weapon ability on this aircraft..) 2. Mi-24 Hind (for the same reason as above) 3. F-35 (The future fighter for Norway :D) 4. Su-27 (THE most beautiful fighter ever created) 5. A-10 (it's just plain cool)

The AA forced by driver is almost always better and faster than the AA provided by the current app you're running.

viewing that picture reminded me of watching porn on the internet 10 years ago; it took 30 minutes to download one single image. I mean.. imagedump?? are they still in the late 90's?

this is depending on what kind of language/keyboard layout your keyboard has. My keyboard is a norwegian/danish and we must press the "*" key to open up the ATC/com menu. But if you struggle so hard finding it, why not remap it under options?

BlackShark necessary to run later DCS modules?
d0ppler replied to Squid's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
what its important to understand is that DCS:BlackShark is ridiculously cheap comparing to what you get vs. any other crap title that i.e. EA games distributes at the same price. -
There isn't no specific tutorial for it, though I remember it was mentioned in some of the tutors in the 3rd "chapter". But it's very easy, press "T" when you have your desired attitude of the aircraft and gently release your rudder pedals and cyclic. If you have problems getting it to work, there are houndreds of threads on this subject.

You seriously need to understand the trimmer before you shoot any cannon or missiles! It's THE most important button in the cockpit!
