I just love it. I’ve always been a huge F16 fan, and it’s so fun to fly. Despite the missing parts in DCS it’s still worth the bucks.

HOTAS Cougar - Antenna elevation knob bug
d0ppler replied to HerrKitz's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Is this fixed yet? I just bought the module and doing the hotas mapping as we speak. Edit : Apparently it works now -
It's not mission dependent (as far as I know). But even though you turn it on, you will have NO indication if it's on or not. Especially no indication on your autopilot info paper on your kneeboard. The real Huey does not have an autopilot, but the autopilot is implemented in the game so you can take the seats of the crew. Just try to see if you can pilot the heli after you have hit Win + A. If it's steady, the autopilot is on.

Personally I find it liberating somehow only to navigate with ADF, VOR, FM homing and landmarks, roads, rivers, etc using the map. A GPS would ruin some of the old school feeling I get while flying the Huey. Once you get used to do it the old way you won’t miss the GPS :) Edit: Ah sorry, I missed the VR part. I’ve never tried VR so I have absolutely no clue.

Ooor just improve the one we’ve allready payed for. :)

You must always calibrate the HSI from a cold start. Thats how it is in real life -
I have now 4 choppers in my hangar. Got discount on Steam since I allready had the Huey. I paid aprox 85USD for the 3 new choppers.

Great campaign so far! I've done 8 missions so far, and I've enjoyed every piece of it! And great news about a new campaign in the horizon!
-
Thanks guys! I'll definitely check those out!

Mission 5-2 - Trees prohibit land
d0ppler replied to DataX's topic in WORLDS APART Spring 2025 Campaign
Hi, and thanks for your reply! I must start reading the documents! Totally my bad, I was landing at the northern "middle" bridge, not the northernmost bridge :D So now I've finally made it, really cool mission! Would like to say this campaign has been totally awesome so far. I'm really hoping you will make more campaigns in the future. (but please let someone do your english proof reading ;) ) -
Mission 5-2 - Trees prohibit land
d0ppler replied to DataX's topic in WORLDS APART Spring 2025 Campaign
My troops won't get out of my chopper when I land at the north bridge (after I've returned the deserted soldier and picked up the troops). No triggers, nothing happens. Even though it says that I'm to land at the north bridge and extract the troops from the F10 menu. Is it a new bug, or where exactly am I going to land? I've tried west side directly where the other friendly soldiers are and also at the middle of the bridge. -
Ahh off course! Downloading the Persian Gulf map as we speak :) Interesting about the Mi-8 conversion! I'll have a look at that :)

I've done all the DLC campaigns (Argo and Worlds apart), as well as the one bundled with the Huey (UN). I like to have a purpose while flying, not just do random stuff, so are there any others? I'm using the Steam version of DCS, and I've tried to install the free Larkin campaign, without success so far. It just doesn't want to show up, no matter how much I try to edit the campaign file in my text editor, making sure all the paths to the missions are correct, etc. So what now? Are there any others campaign (that works with the latest DCS release)? I've also been playing with the idea to make my own campaign(s). Some sort of heli taxi and/or SAR campaign. Also a flight school campaign would be cool. But then I need to invest a lot of time to understand the mission editor, which seems pretty daunting.

Tackar! :)

Wow! That's awesome! Can Steam users install the beta version, or do we need to wait patiently for it be official?

What's the best anti torque pedals for a heli sim these days?
d0ppler replied to d0ppler's topic in DCS: UH-1H
I've ordered the VKB rudders now, and looking forward to try them! The MFG looks cool, but I really loved the simplicity of the VKBs. Thanks again for your advice <3 -

Wow! They look awesome! Thanks for the tip :D -
The Thrustmaster Pendular are insanely expensive, but do they serve good for a Huey? What about Thrustmaster TFRP T.Flight? Or the Logitech G Pro? Your comments and views are greatly appreciated.

Very good advice indeed, MeerCat. At the moment I'm moving my view with my joysticks hat view, which is awfull. I've ordered TrackIR5 from Amazon, but it takes apparently ages to send something from California to Norway :( When the TrackIR is installed I believe it might be easier for me to get a mental view of the space I'm operating within

Is it "safe" to install this mod without risking to break my own shortcut keys?
-
Ah sorry! I admit I was wrong about the neutral rudder, and thanks for clarifying that part.
-
This guy illustrates exactly what I mentioned about the rudder torque and enginge rpm vs rotor rpm. This guy, at least, seems to know what he's talking about: rudder in cruise flight : 6:40 engine rpm vs rotor rpm : 24:40
-
Yep, just like how the autopilot does. At cruise speed with no wind with the "autopilot" you'll see the ball in the middle with left rudder pushed.
-
Like I said, I flew in no wind what so ever. In a clean chopper with aprox 30% fuel. I just tested this in a new mission. When I hit 90kts, I turned on the (non real) autopilot, just to make sure the airframe was flying nice and steady. Then you'll see that the autopilot adds left rudder. Just try for yourself. I believe in real life, like you just said, there should be no need to apply left rudder to counter the torque when you fly in cruise speed.
