  1. oh he does indeed, Just makes me even more impressed with his flying skills.
  2. Oh I was very happy to hear A2A was looking at a Partnership with ED. I use their products exclusively when P3D, no other product comes close for GA flying. IF they were to bring their B17 with accusim to DCS, man that would be a dream come true. Although I was rather surprised to see our Matt confined to a wheelchair, I had absolutely no idea that he was in one.
  3. Unknown, they've not mentioned about the gimble, other than it’s compatible with the Warthog and Cougar. Think they might have a hard sell though, considering the price of the stick is almost the same as the gamble AND stick of the Warthog.
  4. Ok in that case, I’ll hang on for the update, thanks for the quick work.
  5. Wags himself commented only last page, and nine lives before that. The VR optimising is NOT in this patch, but they are hoping to get it to us for the near future, once they can track down the problem.
  6. Personally i started on 747 on the BBC Micro
  7. Ok thanks for letting us know mate. Hate to see what the patch size would have been if they made it in. :megalol: Best things are worth waiting for.
  8. Well considering a patch is made of code, what exactly are you expecting to see? The graphics will stay the same, the aircraft won’t magically turn into robots. Just look at the long list of bug fixes to get an idea how much was fixed.
  9. Wow, Janes. I loved their sims, Pretty sure I had all of them on the Amiga. But will agree, what we have now is a whole different ballgame significantly for the better.
  10. Hi all, well despite having a VR headset since the DK2 days, I’ve have only ever used it for pleasure flights in the Huey, due to the clarity not being good enough for me to spot any targets let alone fight with it. Anyway long story short, I upgraded to the S a few days ago, and since the clarity is significantly improved I’ve been flying DCS in it exclusively, since it has made such a difference. Last night I decided to take up a spitfire and do a flight over Normandy, using the excellent into the Inferno mission generator considering it is the 75th anniversary, and during this flight I became engaged with 2 FW190s. What can I say, dogfighting in VR, has to be one of the most engaging, immersive and damn right tiring experiences I have ever had in my entire gaming and simming life. Trying to follow, while moving your entire body, keeping the other aircraft in sight and getting a successful attack takes a lot of work I’ve found. Now while I may not of survived the encounter, due to a lucky hit by the 190, one round, just one round hit the side of my canopy and hit me in the head, during a tight left turn. I came out of it, beaming from ear to ear. THIS is what VR is about, THIS is what simming is meant to be like. If you’ve never tried it, I can not recommend this enough. The future is bright, the future is VR. :pilotfly:
  11. Not really. You still have a working DCS, it stills runs fine in VR, and we’ve been using VR as it currently is for years. So what’s frustrating about missing a improvement that we haven’t needed for years. Yes it will be fantastic when it turns up, and might mean we can go up a notch or two in the graphical settings, But it being delayed isn’t going to make any difference to your current enjoyment of DCS.
  12. Ohh don’t worry I’m patient mate, I know you guys want to get this too us all as soon as you can, and I’m sure working your butts off to make it happen. Oh and I’m flying at 21.00, so just saying like. :smilewink::smilewink::smilewink:
  13. So what is the bug, that they have found which has stopped release. We don’t know, no one knows apart from ED. Now at the moment we have a OB that works fine, despite whatever bugs it has, BUT we have no idea if this bug in the upcoming version will completely break OB or not. I’m sure if they have delayed the patch it’s for a very good reason. After all if they do release it, and it breaks DCS, I can guarantee that those of you, who are just saying release it, will be the first on here complaining the the latest patch broke their version of DCS, that it was working before and why release something that’s broke. How about, we all sit back, enjoy our OB that is currently working fine, and the patch will get to us when it’s ready and working. Yes the VR optimisation is sort after, but it’s hardly like DCS is unplayable without it.
  14. Cheers mate, glad you can tell what’s wrong. Is there anything I can do to fix the issue, or is it a case of just watching for a patch?
  15. That’s fantastic to hear mate. Sadly had my first black screen today after 45 mins in DCS, although the weird thing is the escape menu still displayed and as soon as I exited DCS my screen was working fine. Weird, as I’m not certain it’s the same issue everyone else is having, that’s said thinking bout it, I could almost be convinced my pilot blacked out, although I was straight and level at the time around 2000 ft.
  16. Got the black screen today after about 45 mins flying. Strangely enough it was completely black on the monitor, but I could still bring up and see the escape menu, and as soon as I exited DCS the Rift was back to normal. So for me it seemed to be a DCS issue, has anyone else had this issue, rather a full black screen lock up
  17. Hi there, this is the error I’m currently getting after about 15 - 20 mins of it working fine, then I get an error like this and my jetseat stops working. Any ideas. This was in the Spitfire, but I’m getting errors in almost every module and Xplane.
  18. Well as you know, I’ve had a Rift since DK2 and to be honest was meh about it. I could see the potential and had some cool moments, but generally I stick to 2D simming. Today I upgraded to the Rift S, after hearing the positive reviews on this forums. OMG, this is truly how VR was meant to be, everything is legible, the vast majority of labels are crystal clear, and the immersion. Oh god the immersion. I think I’m now a complete convert. This new 1.5 generation of HMDs are finally hitting the clarity we require. Can’t put into words just how impressed I am currently with the new Rift S.
  19. Great news mate, I’ve literally just set mine up, although I’ve currently left both monitors attached at the mo. Will let you know if I have the same issue. On the bright side I know what to try straight away. Oh and while I’ve only done the setup, I’ve yet to start DCS, I can see the improvement in Clarity already. Can’t wait to get to fly tonight.
  20. Glad you’ve managed to troubleshoot it, do you still get the black screen if you’re 2nd monitor is turned off? Gonna be a pain having to get behind the system and disconnect my 2nd monitor everytime I want to fly. Although that said, I only have the thing to display my MFDs anyway, which I won’t need IF the clarity is as good as you’re all saying. Will find out myself in 45 mins. The S is currently sat in the boot of my car, just doing the school run and then it’s show time baby.
  21. Nice, sadly only for two of the map areas. But I’ll take it very happily. I’m rather intrigued how how much of a difference this will make, certainly the statement of 50% improvement is a rather large leap. IF they have managed this it will change DCS for so many, and perfect timing too. I’m setting up my old Rift on my Bros Pc ( My old PC ) on Tues so he can finally get to use VR. With this new Performance boost, then it should run rather nicely. I’m rather excited to see what they have managed to pull off.
  22. Welcome to the party pal. ;) That first experience of VR aviation is just mind blowing. I remember being in complete awe as I actually got vertigo when lifting off in the Huey. The feeling of immersion is second to none, and when paired with a jetseat is fantastic. Sadly however. I soon found that apart from point A to B flying, I couldn’t spot anything. Fighting in it was a nightmare, so I found myself back using the 4K tv for visuals instead. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve not given up on VR, and I strongly believe it is the future to our hobby. In fact I am picking up a Rift S tomorrow, after reading on here how much the clarity has improved. I’m keeping everything crossed that this time, I will be sticking with VR for good.
  23. Go for a full refund, Argos is getting them in stock from Monday mate.
  24. Damn sorry to hear that mate, BUT on bright side, since the headset actually went pop after only a very short time, i guess it would point towards a faulty headset more than anything, as the other issues were thought to be software. Hopefully you’ll have no issues with the next one.
