  1. “Everyone is in lockdown anyway” God I wish, I would love to be able to stay at home and keep my family safe while getting the chance to fly everyday. Instead I’m stuck in work as normal, dealing with everyone who feels lockdown shouldn’t apply to them................:doh:
  2. :O what is going on here, a post thanking ED for hard work posted directed after a eagerly awaited module was delayed until god knows when......... BUT my pitchfork is sharpened, and I want to rant, I’ve paid for this, and I don’t care about the fact there’s a major pandemic currently ongoing, and the fact that just because the carrier doesn’t work right in multiplayer, I want to play it in multiplayer and then if it really doesn’t work, I want to complain that it won’t work, and shout why have they released it knowing it doesn’t work in multiplayer. ;) ;) Although now I’ve stopped prating around, I also want to jump on here and thank the devs for all their hard work. DCS is the sim I’ve always dreamt off, to have so many full fidelity aircraft to choose from and learn, while having many different arenas to fly in is an absolute dream come true, and it is my no 1 choice when it comes to flight simulation. Like many others here, I’ve been using software from you guys since the Lomac days, and every day and month you continue to grow and improve our hobby. Thankyou.
  3. Just so happens, tomorrow is my first shift days off. Talk about fortunate timing.
  4. Thankyou for adding a way to turn this off. I’m already stressed enough with having to go to work and risk mine and my family’s life’s due to idiots who think they are too good to isolate, without having my one flight a week, ruined when I can’t land. ( I only get to fly 2hrs a week on a weds and only if I’m off. Which means today will be the first time in weeks I’ve managed to get on. ) Don’t get me wrong, normally I do have a sense of humour, bu5 it’s fair to say it has currently packed its bags and left the building. All i want to do is have 2 hrs of relaxation flying with my mates and try and forget about work until I have to go back tomorrow.
  5. Ouch, yep most definitely do not want to do that. ????????????????
  6. One more question, I’ve removed the screws from the joystick connector as recommended by Virpil if using the TM grips, but it really doesn’t feel secure and I’m concerned I’m gonna damage the connector when swapping the Warthog and F18 grips about. Really don’t like the way it pulls out of the stick when swapping them over. Do you guys keep the screws in or have you removed them?
  7. Oh I will mate, just spent some time swapping the cams about ( had the cosmosims installed ) and changing the springs from soft to extra strong, which were to strong, so back to soft. Awaiting Virpil to send me some medium springs to see if that feels right. I may have also accidentally just ordered the F14 stick as the it became available with no rudder axies. I have the mount all delivered now, just need to get the holes drilled in it to match the Warthog mount on my wheel stand pro, and everything should then be sorted. I’ve calibrated and installed the software as well. So getting there, slowly but surely. Reckon 2 weeks for the new springs, but hopefully the mount should get drilled in next few days. So I can at least have in installed temporarily before they turn up.
  8. It’s a completely different aircraft than what we are used to. Old steam gauges, no fly by wire, just old fashioned piloting skills and an aircraft trying to kill you. Personally I love it, plus it has the added bonus that learning this aircraft WILL improve your piloting skills that you can then use on any other modules. Heatblur really did raise the bar the the Tomcat. Really determined to learn how to use it correctly. Especially now I may have accidentally ordered the Virpil F14 controller.
  9. Oh don’t worry, I do have VR, I’m just currently flying in 2D, so I can also read and see the guides while I’m learning to fly. Once I’ve learnt sensors, nav and basically how to fight with the Harrier, then I am planning to go back to VR. As to the A2A refuelling practice, I was flying for 5 hrs earlier, and although the first hr was ropey as hell, eventually I have seemed to get it. Well certainly with the C130 and S3 anyway. That 135 is still sketchy as hell, and although I did manage a full refuel once on it, I just can’t get the right position for the life of me. Basically I just flew formation, joined refuelled, dumped fuel, and rinse and repeat for hrs. I am pleased that it did get to the point where I was hitting the 130 basket 1st time on each approach, which I could never do yesterday. The KC135 was taking me 5 mins or so of trying to join, but I did get it a number of times which I’m over the moon about. The plan for tomorrow is more of the same. I will get this cracked by the end of the week. Huge thanks for all the advice, I’m putting it all to great use.
  10. Well guys, I’m now in the club. She arrived today in the mail. Thankyou for all the advice, I’ve ordered the heavy duty springs from Virpil, as she has normal ones currently installed with the cosmosim cams. So will get them swapped over along with the Aviasim cams and see how I get on. Certainly at the mo I’ve attached the Warthog grip and yes that is damn soft, although I’ve not actually tested it flying yet, so you never know I might like it. I’ve also order the joystick mount so I can get that drilled to fit my current warthog mount for the wheel stand pro. I’ve seen others have mounted it similar and that appears to work fine. Fingers crossed everything will be up and running in a week or so.
  11. Fairly certain it is wake turbulence that’s kicking my butt, given that it’s a larger aircraft, just got off pc after another 2 hrs practice in both Harrier and F18, again KC130 and the S3 was no issues, connected to both within a few goes and stayed on till refuel was complete. However, still failed to connect for more than a few seconds with the KC135. Will turn it off tomorrow and see if I can actually connect. At least that way I can rule it out or not. Either that or only choose servers without the 135 as the tanker.:thumbup
  12. Hi all, Apart from the standard practice can anyone here PLEASE let me know the tips and tricks for getting the damn aircraft onto the probe and refuelling in any other situation apart from the KC130 and straight and level? I am currently flying the basket through my refuelling box on the top left of the cockpit, and lining the centre of my compass on the left hand edge of the outer most prop of the Herc. Now this way IF I’m refuelling with a Herc, the weather is perfect and she’s straight and level I can connect and stay connected for the entire refuel. IF however the tanker is any other airframe, or the tanker turns, then I can’t for the life of me connect to the damn probe. Please what is the secret, I’m practising every damn day, and it’s driving me mad, sadly due to her limited fuel capacity without this skill, it’s sad to say the Harrier can’t really complete its mission. God forbid trying to refuel in any type of weather. I’ve tried looking on YouTube and it seems the majority of vids on there are using the 130 straight and level. I really want to learn this skill, before I move onto learning the nav pages, weapons etc, as without fuel, everything else becomes redundant. By the way I’m currently using a TM Warthog, but my Virpil WarBRD base arrived this morning, so I’m planning to swap over to that in a few days
  13. Intresting never heard that mentioned before. Thankyou will give it a try. For some reason I can refuel on the KC130 ok, but the KC135 is the spawn of the devil. For some reason I cannot connect and stay connected for the life of me with that tanker. Don’t suppose you know the tricks for the harrier as well do you. :helpsmilie::helpsmilie:
  14. Hi all, I’m just wondering has anyone figured how to turn off the writing on the left side of the screen, thar states when people takeoff, land , get shot down and hit targets at all. I find it very distracting and really detracts from the whole DCS experience. Would love just a clean screen purely showing my cockpit only. I’m really not interested in what others are doing on the server.
  15. Ahhhh bugger, missed the chance to try the most wanted feature for years. On bright side, it doesn’t get a better confirmation that they truly are working on it, and not just saying what we want to hear.
  16. Hi all, I’ve been offered the chance to grab a Virpil Warbrd Bass with Cosmosim cams to replace my 3 YO warthog base. I was just wondering if it would be worth it, The Warthog is working fine but I’m led to understand the internals of the Virpil of better quality and allow more finer movements while flying. I’ve never heard of the Cosmosim cams so will need to do homework on that one. But basically for those of you using this type of setup, would it be worth it?
  17. Ok, I appreciate that it wasn’t meant to be released, and I fully appreciate that there are quite a few bugs, BUT please Ed Please let us test and bug find for you guys now it’s out. Don’t take it away with the next patch, but allow us to help you improve and refine it. We have been waiting so long for this, I am happy to use it REGARDLESS of issues.
  18. After a few years away, yes I’m sorry I was seduced by the soft lines and speed of the F18, F16 and even the harrier, but with the new update I came back to see how this ol girl could stand up to the new crowd. What can I say, for A2G, there truly isn’t a finer aircraft in DCS. Sure she’s slow, and maybe she’s not the prettiest lass out on the ramp, but she can stay up for ages, feels like a lifetime compared to the others, can carry a stack load of goodies, again significantly more than anyone else out there, her sensors are just sublime to use, easy, fast and everything to links perfectly together. Makes delivering the payload smooth and crisp, certainly compared to the Harrier the sensor controls are night and day. What else is there to say, the original is still the best at ground pounding. I instantly felt back at home, compared to feeling rushed and vulnerable in the other jets, I actually felt sorry for the poor tankers on the ground. Just taking my time, picking them off one by one, jdams, LGBs, Mavericks. It didn’t matter what I used, everything just worked. And if or should I say when, they did manage to score a hit on me, instead of throwing her teddies out of the pram, and everything breaking like other faster aircraft I could fly, she just shrugged it off, and said is that all you got. Damn. Forgotten how much I love this aircraft.
  19. Thanks for that, but I should have stated, I already have my Hotas mounted and setup on a wheel stand pro, which allows me to easily swap out the throttle for a collective when I fly helos, so I’m looking for a STANDALONE desk mounting solution for the MFDs. I have seen a great triple MFD mount by Foxxy Mounts, but again sadly that looks like it mounts to his Hotas mount, rather than being standalone. Thankyou for the suggestion however.
  20. Hi all, despite having my MFDs currently mounted to a 12” screen placed halfway across my desk, I’m finding that I’m flying VR exclusively now after getting the Rift S. As such, the 2nd screen the MFDs are now mounted on is pretty redundant as I can’t see the darn thing anymore. I’m thinking It would now make more sense to remove the MFDs from this screen and mount them on the leading edge of my desk, so they are in the correct position when I’m looking about in VR, and subsequently be easier to use as I hopefully I’ll be able to train myself to reach for the right point in space while in VR. I was wondering if anyone has found a good solution to mount their MFDs like this, as I’m sure many of you using VR may have done something similar?
  21. Added automatically when you go to your cart. $24.99 for F18 owners
  22. I agree it shouldn’t be sold on steam, as it causes more issues than it’s worth. Yes Steam is a thing, hell I have a good 80+ games on it myself, but everytime a module comes out, everytime there’s a sale, everytime a module is released its the same old story, where those backers like yourself who use DCS on Steam get left behind and to be fair rightly annoyed. But since it happens everytime can anyone honestly state they are surprised now when it happens. Personally I would recommend everyone to only use the standalone version and purchase direct from the store to avoid this, but people want choice and sadly this is the drawback. I’m sure ED will sort out what’s going on with Steam eventually, I mean they usually do, but it just takes a few days
  23. To be fair, Steam owners have ALWAYS had to wait longer than those who buy direct from store or for the discounts. It’s the same for every single module and always have been, so how on earth is it a surprise that you have to wait for the discount to become live. IF you want all the discounts, the modules etc as early as possible, then it’s just common sense to only use the Beta version and purchase direct from the DCS store.
  24. Like others, it’s a day 1 purchase for me. Ed are bringing one of the most immersive carrier experiences ever seen on a home computer, now the best thing is it’s entirely optional, but I’ll be damned if I’m gonna miss out.
  25. Cheers guys, will try that tomorrow and let you all know.
