  1. It certainly looks like you have the new map. I know Odiham which you have showing their is one of the new airfields that comes with 2.0
  2. That’s the original Normandy. NOT 2.0
  3. Cheers mate, no idea why. But my mind just went blank. Couldn’t remember what to do despite using DCs for over a decade.
  4. Sorry guys, very silly question but minds gone blank. With updating now, do I start my normal DCs beta program to update, or is there a way to do it via the MT.exe that we now use? not updated since MT came out as rl has got in the way of my flying. I know my original beta link will check for the updates but mt seems to just start the sim.
  5. Hi all, I’ve been away from VR for quite some time after my hard drive failed, and then I decided to go back down the 2D physical cockpit route. However with the introduction of MT, and the fact my physical mfd screens are currently having issues with it, I figured now might be the perfect time to relook at VR. NOW the main reasons for going back to 2D, were I kept getting annoying stutters flying over towns specifically, the clarity just wasn’t there for my old eyes, and I do love my stunning graphics and feel of using real switches. I have seen you can now get prescription lenses for the Quest 2, which should hopefully solve the issue with blurring with my old eyes, and I’m hoping that MT will solve the stutter issue and may let me up the graphical settings to get the graphics a bit closer to 2D. As to the physical controls I’m still planning on using them, I just hope muscle memory to come quickly. Anyway enough waffling, and let’s get to the point. I’ve not been following the VR world at all since I stopped using it, so are there ANY 3rd party drivers / programs that you guys have found are must haves for use in DCS. I do have a voice attack serial number somewhere that I can reinstall, as well as PointCTRL, which I used to use last time I was operation with VR. I appreciate all setups are different, so as a starting position, I found a YouTube video for 2.7 which I will use to get the initial graphical settings and then tweak from there. any advice or tips on getting Quest 2 setup from scratch for DCS would be appreciated
  6. Hi guys, just started to relearn the A10 after many years away, I normally fly the F18, so im fortunate enough to have 3 Thrustmaster MFDs setup in my home cockpit to replicate the F18 cockpit. Now obviously the A10 only has 2, which map fine. However I would like to use the bottom mfd and specifically the bottom row of buttons to control my navigation buttons in the A10. Steer point, ils, egi etc. However I’ve noticed that ALL the MFDs appear to be greyed out which means I cannot assign any of the physical buttons, unless I’m mapping the aircraft MFDs itself. Is there anyway I can get the sim to allow me to utilise these extra buttons. Other modules, there’s no issue and I can assign them to whatever I like, usually the kneeboard.
  7. Nope. I was pilot in charge. Happens when I have both George or a human player in front seat. Ahhhh, yes that would most certainly do it. doohhh. Told you it would be user error.
  8. Hi guys, I’m trying to learn the Apache and have started at the moment in the back seat. I’m rather fortunate in the fact I have an Apache collective from Komodo Simulations to help with this. Now I have fully mapped the collective to the pilot collective. Every switch is seen and recognised and the relevant buttons moved correctly in the cockpit when I use them on my collective. All good right. Now the confusion I’m having is while the bottom half of the collective seems to work fine, the switches all work and the relevant systems are controlled. Apart from the trim slab at the back of the Helo. Can see the switches move on the internal collective but the horizontal stab doesn’t appear to move. The main issue is the combat portion of the collective. Apart from the curser and enter switch, nothing else appears to do anything. The switches are shown moving in the aircraft, but no actions seen. Any ideas. I’m I doing something wrong, are these items not in the module yet, I know the FCR isn’t. But I would though the zoom / unzoom function would still work and the selection of the other sensors. I hope you can understand my issue, appreciate I’ve probably not explained it clearly. Plus the chances of it being user error are extremely high.
  9. Ok, so I’m guessing it’s still bugged in 2.8 then. At least it’s promising that I’m not the only one having this issue, as at least that rules out the jetseat itself breaking. I’ll hang on for now and hope things get better over the next few patches. I’m guessing something has changed in the way DCS communicates with the software.
  10. Hi all, im just wondering if you all keep the strength settings at 50, or do i need to change them for the jetseat? ive never touched them in all the years ive had a jetseat, but the last few patches i can hardly feel if its working or not. in fact i honestly thought my jetseat had broke, until i read that the latest beta fixed that feeling. Problem is i still cant really feel any effects. only tried the Apache at the mo mind you.
  11. Love the video, and of course the highlight for myself was the chinook and not just a chinook, BUT a F model chinook. Gonna need a LOT more push buttons in those home cockpit guys, the MFDs are huge in that aircraft and there’s 2 either side. I know not everyone is into logistics, BUT if you are. 2023 is gonna be OUR year in DCS. hugely impressed.
  12. Hi guys, I’m currently looking at grabbing a GTN750 by Real sim gear for use with MSFS, and it occurred to me that as the screen is seen as just another HDMI monitor, the size and shape would allow it to be used rather nicely as a Abris for the KA50. However after talking to them, it appears the switches are used via their own software which obviously does not support DCS. They did suggest there was some software that allows you to connect Arduino serial devices to DCS, but that would mean reflashing the device each time I swapped between sims, which lets be honest isn’t practical. I was just wondering if anyone knows of any other solution that would allow me to use the switches and knobs on the 750 within DCS, while also keeping it fully working with MSFS when I swap sims? not being able to use the switches in dcs isnt a deal breaker as I am getting it for MSFS mainly, but it would be a nice to have if there is a way to get it working. cowboy10uk
  13. Hi there, been through all my settings several times, I think I’ve solved it. it appears there was a slight deadzone applied to the throttle 1 axis, so despite the throttle being fully back, and appearing to look like it was in the idle position, the throttle itself was 1/2 inch away from idle, hence the sim not then allowing it to switch off. sorry user error, you can shut this down. many thanks for looking.
  14. Cheers that’s what I was concerned about. ok will switch it over the axis backlight control
  15. Hi there, is anyone else having an issue where they cannot turn off engine 1. For some reason I cannot get it to go to the off position once at idle. Neither my throttle binding switch, nor the default right Alt and end works. Engine 2 however works as normal.
  16. Hi all, just wondering if there is anyway to sync the panel back lighting to all aircraft. I know I can just select unsync and have the Pnl button only effect the hardware and not ingame, although that rather defeats the object of having kit that syncs to Dcs. apart from the F18 and A10, the panels stay dark for all other aircraft at mo, which is annoying when I fly at night. anyone know how to solve this please. cowboy10uk.
  17. Have same issue, followed the old fix of putting in a dead zone of 3 and all working again.
  18. Glad it’s not just me struggling then. in process of rolling back the drivers now.
  19. Thank you for acknowledging our concerns are being seen and addressed. Hopefully this might be the catalyst for DCS world to move from a jumble of random map areas to a TRUE DCS World. ( over time of course )
  20. Simple, modern theatres don’t have 3 maps that cover the same area, to be honest if it was a modern theatre that had multiple maps that covered the same area then I would be arguing for them all to be blended and working together as well. Having to have multiple maps that work independently but cover the same location just does not make any sense whatsoever. if anything it highlights some serious flaws in the current map system and in the tech used by DCS as a whole. I do understand the difficulty with the fact that different 3rd partys have made a contract to cover a set area for DCS, and while they all want to improve our sim, at the end of the day, they are competing against each other, so want to get the most customers. This is the first time we have had a situation that I know of where one company’s product covers the same area as another 3rd parties product and, well to be fair I don’t know what the solution is, although that’s EDs problem not ours. But as simmers it’s only natural that we would expect the entire of the south cost to be covered in DCS world and the maps to naturally combine together as that is what we are used to in other sims. you buy a base and then you expend with scenery modules for various parts of the world, BUT the main thing is regardless of who develops it, they ALL merge naturally so we as a simmer don’t notice the changeover. likewise any missions or campaigns purchased in those sims work regardless so long as you have that scenery area installed. so in this case I would expect that if you have Normandy 2.0 and the Channel map, then the channel map would naturally override the low res areas of Normandy 2.0., but both maps would be merged and working together to create one large high res area, similar to other sims that are available, And that all campaigns would work across the board.
  21. To be fair though, Heathrow and Farnborough are NOT historically inaccurate airfields for the time though. Granted they were significantly smaller than they are now, Heathrow was basically a grass field and a single small terminal, but they ARE airfields that were in use during the time period this map is covering. An airfield doesn’t have to be military to be seen in a military sim. I would expect ALL airfields in the area to be included in the map, so I am slightly disappointed not to see Odiham or Benson in the map, but I’m hoping they will turn up later. The disappointing news here is the obvious decision to make the channel section low res to force players to purchase the channel map, rather than merge the area into one ww2 map, that’s a decision that is clearly made for profits rather than ease of use and the improvement of the sim. ( guess it’s one of the drawbacks splitting the world into small chunks and having multiple 3rd party manufacturers building and designing maps. They all work against each other rather than together ) And the fact that the current campaigns won’t work with this map despite it covering the same areas. So we now have to install 3 maps all covering the same area depending on what campaign we want to use. With the associated large hard drive usage for each map. For myself this drops the Normandy 2.0 map from a essential must have to one I may pick up at some point. IF I still need to have all my other maps installed, and if I can’t use my campaigns for the same area with it then honestly at this point it’s very hard to justify purchasing it even at $9.99
  22. Because with the size stated above And including both London and Paris which we know are included in the Normandy 2.0 map, the area covers looks like this, which clearly covers the area in the channel map as well. Granted it remains to be seen if we are right or not, BUT I can’t see any other reason why ownership of the Channel map would get you a discount on a 3rd partys map otherwise. IF it didn’t make the Channel map redundant there would be no need to award owners of that map a discount. BUT I guess only time will tell.
  23. Is this the sim for campaigns currently on BOTH the Channel and Normandy maps, since the new Normandy map will cover both of these areas, OR will this just be for current Normandy campaigns as it is technically only the Normandy map that’s getting redone? Reflected Campaigns are the best, but I would hate to have to have multiple maps for the same area installed just to play them. Hard drive space is getting low as it is.
  24. Wow, Normandy 2.0 is a dream come true. Join up two existing maps areas together and then expand it south to cover Paris, plus upgrading the graphics and models of the existing maps, all for just $9.99 so you’ll literally just paying for the expanded new portion. What is not to like. It’s been stated for years what a missed opportunity it was to have 2 maps covering the same front but not be able to use them together. instant purchase. not to mention that MB-339 sneaked up on me, wasn’t at all intrested, but I wasn’t aware of the weapon capabilities at that time…… oh my poor wallet.
  25. Hi guys, myself and my bro has recently decided that we wanted to crew the F14 together. So we flipped a coin to see who gets which seat and just my luck, I got the Rio seat. So I’m looking for any suggestions for Rio training that you all would recommend. I’ve been looking on You tube and have watched a number of RIO cold and dark setups as well as a 3 hr one by the spice rack which is seriously detailed. However if I’m honest it all seems to be going over my head. I understand in theory what I should do, but in game I cannot lock up a blooming barn door, let alone engage with anything. Starting to seriously think I’m out of my league. How have other DCS RIOs out there, learnt the systems and got to a competent level?
