  1. For the ground side we just made the most out of what we had even though our stuff lagged behind the Army quite a bit. I'd imagine the air side takes the same approach. The reality is that with such a small budget, the Corps has to cut corners to get by. Unfortunately these days it's taking it's toll on the airworthiness of it's plane force which last I read was something horrible like only 25% can currently fly.
  2. You obviously were not in the Corps then
  3. The salute idea is cool, but should the trigger to launch be turning on the lights? It wouldn't look as neat but at night it's how the pilots signal that they are ready.
  4. The hard work is appreciated. After a tough day at work the Hornet you guys have put together lets me forget my frustrations and just have a good time.
  5. Put the flaps in auto
  6. I use scroll lock
  7. Set the heading you want the plane to follow via the hdg switch (top left ampcd). Set it to the heading of your current waypoint. Select autopilot on the ufc (a/p) and then select hsel.
  8. I was seeing this same behavior yesterday. After a few passes to get the target box where I wanted apparently I went below the target and the ASL line disappeared. Nothing I did would bring it back without losing where I placed the target mark.
  9. Maybe just fly straight in instead of the case one pattern? For reference pause the game and use the external camera to find the ball and get a picture of where you should be at.
  10. In CCIP incredibly accurate, but CCRP not so much. I think it’s due to me having a hard time settng my target accurately via the hud.
  11. I find that landing on an airfield doesn’t help me as it doesn’t have an angled deck and isn’t moving. When I do field practice I feel it’s not similar enough.
  12. I was listening to the fighter pilot podcast and they talked about strafing runs with nvg’s. The guy that said it was a single seat pilot.
  13. I set the carrier to 10 knots with no wind and it was happening to me.
  14. Oh. I didn’t try that. I only had the Stennis.
  15. I had to select the unit in the editor to get it to work as well.
  16. I noticed when I cold start on the ground it takes forever to move the trim to 16 from 12(50 seconds), but in a hot start mission the trim moves quickly to 16 from 12(3-4 seconds). What am I missing in my cold starts?

I’m not color blind and still think it’s useless.
  18. I haven't flown the mirage, but thanks to the auto trim I think the FA-18 flies like a dream.
  19. Trimming nose up. I just get it close and then refine it when I roll out. I used to have a hard time keeping 600ft because I would sink so much, but now I level out and then descend to 600. It took me awhile to get a feel for how much to pull in the break as I found 1% of 350 too aggressive.
  20. My gear, flaps, speed brake in and trimming all happen while still in my break turn once I hit 250. I usually still have another 20 or so degrees to go in my turn. Once I got used to this method everything fell into place as far as the downwind leg goes.
  21. I believe a snapped wire is much more serious event as it could cause the airplane to roll off the deck and also flight deck crew injuries but normally I’ve read that the arrester cable is expected to be changed out between landings if needed. So like 45 seconds.
  22. After flying night carrier approaches this weekend I think once we get the ICLS we won't really need the lights so much,
  23. This helped me. With your HSI set at 10 miles start your turn when the ship is 5 degrees past 270 degrees (265). Jabbers mentions this in his video.
  24. Off topic, pretty crazy how they had to light their burners to identify where other members of their flight were during night time.
  25. I've experienced the same issue. BIT test not completing and stick input does nothing.
