[DCSISSUE] Cant re-select Viggen in Mission editor
Shimonu replied to Knock-Knock's topic in Missions and Campaigns
Sounds like a mission editor bug and not a Viggen bug, right? -
empty serverbrowser in open beta / steam openbeta ok
Shimonu replied to tob.s's topic in Multiplayer
Have you run the updater to make sure you have the latest version? -
Use AWACS if available, should give you a hint.

To be honest the tutorials aren't always a pleasant experience. I've had troubles with it detecting that I've pressed the buttons or switches it points out. So you have to sit there pressing them several times. It's easier to read guides and ask questions.
-
I made a bug report about this a while ago. I managed to reach up to 19 G if I remember correctly on some hard touch downs.

You're confusing me. Electron volts is a measurement of energy, not mass. They are related but not interchangeable. The Wikipedia article states it is a heat engine and explains it with heat and radiation, I find nothing about it being related to photons having mass. "The air pressure inside the bulb needs to strike a balance between too low and too high. A strong vacuum inside the bulb does not permit motion, because there are not enough air molecules to cause the air currents that propel the vanes and transfer heat to the outside before both sides of each vane reach thermal equilibrium by heat conduction through the vane material" If you were right that there was a transfer of kinetic energy or inertia then it should work in a perfect vacuum as well.
-
What makes you think the movement has to be caused by kinetic energy? I'd really like a better source that photons have mass, I have never heard anyway say it has mass. It behaves like a particle at times but a massless particle.

You're saying airplanes never run out of fuel in real life? His operation may be unorthodox but the simulation of the aircraft is obviously still wrong. It's just a shortcut to reproduce a bug. If you want realism then the simulation of running out of fuel and refueling should work as it would in real life, whether the method of producing the behaviour is realistic or not.

Obviously you won't see an instantaneous response, it might take a second but the change in thrust is definitely large relative to throttle movement. How big changes to throttle would you say you need to see a difference in engine performance? Let's say I'm flying approach and I'm at 150 knots and falling slightly. If I make slight increase in throttle then the speed will slowly start increasing instead and after a while I will have to decrease it to maintain 150 knots. I'm definitely not adding quarter throttle or anything like that, I just push it enough that I feel the slightest movement. But this could of course differ between HOTAS. I have an X52, what do you use?
-
I'd say almost the opposite, they feel very sensitive. I find it difficult to maintain a speed without constantly moving the throttle tiny steps. I tried AAR for the first time today and it's the same, constantly moving the throttle to maintain desired speed. The tiniest increments I can do gives me big(5-10+ knots) changes in speed.

Is it a violent roll or just a slight one? Check that you don't have several controls mapped to the same axis. Typically rudder and stick sometimes get the same input, so your rudders will control both roll and rudder for example.

Heatblur have several easter eggs in the Viggen.

How do you know they fired at Rmax and not (Rmax - 2nm) or (Rmax - 4nm). If you've turned 2 degrees then they're still approaching, now they're even closer and they can fire another missile, and another, and another. The Hornet can carry 6 Sparrows. They can get pretty close with that tactic just keeping you busy with "wasted" missiles. I can say I've fired beyond Rmax and made the bandit go defensive just as a scare tactic. I got my splash and returned home. I could probably have waited but firing a missile that you know won't hit is still a good bluff if your opponent doesn't know if it's within range or not.

[FIXED] Radar STT lock jumping between targets
Shimonu replied to HWasp's topic in Bugs and Problems
Is this the behaviour I've been seeing when I've locked someone and the little dot you place in the circle is jumping around? -
I believe AEW said to not align the VVI with the crotch because it was a bad habit in case you lose the HUD, which he had experience of. And in the Pattern Entry, isn't the approach to the right of the carrier? You will see it on your left but you are to the right of the carrier.

[UNABLE TO REPRODUCE] FCS broken - A/P modes dont work
Shimonu replied to Grodlund's topic in Bugs and Problems
I have also had great difficulty engaging AP. I've been flying straight but nothing works. It's very rare that I get it working. -
I thought FA18 had a hands off stick carrier launch?
Shimonu replied to silent one's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
I have never used any finger lifts and get into afterburner just fine. -
The switch on the right panel can be held by they keyboard button 'Y'

[NO IMAGE OR TRACK POVIDED] HSI on Left DDI (Graphics Glitch)??
Shimonu replied to wizav's topic in Bugs and Problems
I saw something like this while flying during dusk. I turned all the displays to night mode but when I had the HSI on the left DDI it basically appeared as day mode, bright green, other pages were dimmed correctly. -
Yep, it's the landing. I just got a 25.5 for an on-speed field landing...
-
Sound like a VERY hard landing. It certainly wasn't a greaser but not harder than a regular Hornet controlled crash. :D
-
I noticed when I had landed that my Max G reading said 16.4 and I just wanted to share just in case as it feels somewhat high. I did not do any crazy maneuvers to try and create high G. I did do plenty of maneuvers but never to the extent that I felt like I was maxing out the aircraft. There was never any tunnel vision or blacking out, don't think I can even recall any heavy breathing.

Sounds a bit like cheating...
