This is an early implementation. Wags has already stated they tweaked the 9X internally where it has the full range at 90 degrees off bore sight.
-
You have to mod the airfield .lua file to add the ICLS function in game. There is another thread that covers this very thing in detail.
-
The knob is a backup and the UFC is the primary method of tuning ICLS. ICLS for the carrier must be set by the mission editor ahead of time.

Go to your Start Menu, scroll through your programs down to Eagle Dynamics and run the open beta updater.

Firing AGM E cause DCS Crash (latest update 15 Aug 2018)
Revelation replied to Pingoo's topic in Resolved Bugs
Can you verify that you are running DCS in "admin mode" as there is an old issue / limitation (of sorts) that running DCS without admin privileges will cause a crash when launching MAVs. -
[FIXED INTERNALLY] AIM-9X Seeker Sound stuck
Revelation replied to Revelation's topic in Bugs and Problems
I hope so, if not it's not end of the world. -
The AIM-120 is a great missile, especially in real life. You simply cannot expect to hit a target going away from you at a great distance. You have limited life of the batteries on board the missile. You also have limited fuel contained in the missile. The missile does not "burn" its motor all the way to the target, unless it's a short shot. Typically missiles will burn their motor for 5-10 secs and then it uses kinetic energy to reach the target. You simply cannot expect something to chase down a target going away from you if it doesn't have the energy to do so. So replicate it and post a track file and open up a new Bug thread. I do not experience what you are describing so I cannot replicate it. LOFT should be selected by default. You exit VM buy selecting a target on your Radar. VM is there by default.

For a "shoot" notification at greater distances you have to be within the right parameters. Your altitude needs to be 15k+ feet and 350 knots+. The target also has to be coming at you, aka "hot." As you adjust your altitude and speed you will start to see different and greater launch distances. When you launch at maximum range, that does not mean you will get a "kill." Only that the missile has enough energy to reach the target if nothing changes. If the target starts to evade, your chances of a kill go way down at max range. There were some issues with track logic of the 120s, I have not looked into whether that was fixed already or if that will be in the "re-visit" ED plans later on. As far as the dual-rack AIM-120s, I have not experienced the issue you mention. You will need to replicate the issue and post a track file for ED to take a look. The LOFT mode is simply where the AIM-7 will climb to a higher altitude early in the launch window so it can use its energy more effectively to get to its target. What I have found, so far, is the AIM-7MH uses the LOFT mode the best. You also have to pay attention to your launch parameters when launching in loft mode. If the target is going away, you will miss every time when taking a "long shot."

So far it appears that the AIM-7MH has better range than other sparrows and much better tracking logic. That is simply early testing so far.

So far this is present in the simple mission I put together to test the new enhancements to the missiles. Once the AIM-9x is selected, the audio "beep" is present regardless if the AIM-9X is selected or not. It is also present even if you take the Hornet out of AA mode or go master arm safe. Uploaded a quick trackfile showcasing the issue. Outside of that I am loving the AIM-9X, testing the limits of engagement in its current form. AIM-9X_Issue.trk

Can never get a good CCIP solution with SnakeEyes
Revelation replied to Nealius's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
You're too high at this stage of development for the Snakeyes. Either go lower or wait until ED works on the release logic for retarded bombs. -
That again depends on the ROE for the Theater of Operations. Visual ID has been the go-to requirement for some time in the recent conflicts that the US has been involved in. I cannot speak for other nations as I am unfamiliar with their philosophies when not working in conjunction with US forces.
-
In real life that is dictated by ROEs (Rules of Engagement). Typically it means visually identifying your target. In the virtual world where no real lives are lost you can use Raygun call to your wingman/friendlies, IFF, AWACS when the Hornet gets the declare function - etc...
-
PID = Positive ID
-
You're assuming that you can see the aircraft out there to get inside of the boresight circle.
-
If my wingman is in a "guns fight" with a bandit, I'm not launching a "Maddog" into the fray. I would first get PID of my wingman and the bandit, then depending on distance I would pick the best weapon for the job. Most likely that would be a Fox 2, unless we had gotten separated at a distance where visual ID would be prohibitive.
-
Why not just wait for the 9900k getting ready to drop around Oct. 8 Cores that can overlock past 5Ghz...
-
Awesome news, hopefully that is the case. If not, so be it, we just have to be patient.
-
I, typically, use it if I had not picked up the enemy on radar and I saw that he launched on me. I'd try to fire a Maddog his way and then immediately go defensive.
-
If the target is destroyed it will attempt to find another target along its trajectory. If you have four incoming bandits you typically wouldn't fire four missiles in that "fashion." You might Maddog on one, turn away, get some distance and then reengage hoping that the missile eliminated one target or caused 1 or more bandits to go defensive. You could lock on to one target, fire and as soon as it went pitbul, do it again on another bandit. Depending on the distance you could get multiple shots off before you are merged with the remaining bandits. To really engage multiple bandits in the scenario you described, you'd best wait until TWS is implemented with the ability to launch on multiple targets - simultaneously.
-
Does the radar show the type of target its locked on to?
Revelation replied to CypherS's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Not yet, but that type of feature should come over time to the Hornet. -
Really wish this was available to all; I'd love to try my hand at it.
-
You typically need to be within 20NM for an accurate IFF at the moment. At least that has been my experience.
-
It doesn't show the missiles themselves, just a visual approximation of missile Time To Impact. I don't think any of the missile in game have datalink capabilities IRL let alone modeled. I believe the AIM 120C-7 was the first one in US inventory to get that capability.

[REPORTED] RWS radar stabilization and tracking loss
Revelation replied to KungFu's topic in Bugs and Problems
You have to give it time to load. I have replayed the track three times and each time the symbology in the HUD freezes. I don't know what to say, this is something weird that is being experienced.
