That hasn't come up at all, that is a common belief by those that think their favorite system should be first. Let me let you in on a little secret.... ED is not close to completing A/A - based on released info so far. There are a lot of systems that tie into the A/A Radar for it to work with all of it's glory, i.e. MIDS, LINK16, SA - just to name a few. You also have ZERO idea of where the A/G radar state is, simply because ED has not discussed it for a long time. Now I will concede that most likely means it's a ways off - YOU do not get to say that it is "far away from being near complete" since you don't know. For all we know the A/G Radar is closer to being complete - however unlikely. Further did you not even read my post where I stated things should be added as they are ready and not follow some arbitrary schedule? And people in the community wonder why ED is so tight lipped on giving out estimates - it's because of this kind of behavior.
-
This has been discussed over and over and over again. The person(s) working on the JHCMS is not the same person(s) working on the Radar and most likely not the same person(s) working on the HARM. If certain features or systems are complete enough to be added, then add them. ED should not follow a specific roadmap that only part of the community agrees with.

Where do you get that from? Do these servers disallow the HMD for Russian birds? I am willing to bet most servers will permit JHCMS + 9X.

What information? That there was a plan to drop a patch today? You only need to look at Wags latest video going over improvements made to the A/A Radar. If you want to know when patches have historically dropped, you can go look at the long list of posts in the update thread to get an idea of times.

Wags indicated that an update was expected to drop today. Give it time, they don't always have it out early.

Shadoga was responding to: So, yes that was the "question" at hand. -
Your launch bar is "attached" to the shuttle. Your launch bar won't actually retract until after you leave the deck. There were certain models of F-18Cs that would suffer damage if the launch bar switch wasn't "retracted" prior to take off.

Nice Video Wags and thanks for the update; hope you guys get things worked out so you can get it out this month. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3642276&postcount=79

I don't think ED has modeled damage to the launch bar yet, though it will come eventually. You must make sure you raise your launch bar after you hookup to the shuttle prior to taking off.

The radar on the Hornet is very much WIP. Wags posted a video over the weekend with a demonstration of improvements that are scheduled to come in an update on the 3rd. It is WIP but it is still a great missile in its current implementation. The range at which you can fire varies based on your altitude, your speed, your attitude, your vector, your target's altitude, your target's attitude and your target's speed. For instance an aircraft flying head on at 600knots+ while you are flying at 20k feet+ and 600knots+ you can easily launch outside of 40NM with a flashing Shoot Que. If nothing changes, you will kill your target - that rarely happens. One thing to keep in mind, modern missiles have limited amounts of solid or liquid fuel internally. They typically burn for 5-10 seconds after release; after that they must use their kinetic energy to reach its target. Your target will have more fuel onboard. If your target turns and performs evasive maneuvers he has the ability to defeat your missile by causing it to use its energy to try and maintain a lead pursuit which can and often results in the missile running out of energy by the time it reaches the target. The closer you are to the target the less chance the target has of defeating your missile by maneuvers alone. Liberal countermeasure use and defensive maneuvers can still defeat modern missiles, but it is less likely. Tacview is a great utility to learn about missiles and how to be effective with them. I recommend at least using the free version of Tacview to get a better understanding of what is happening after you launch a missile, what your target is doing and watching how quickly the speed on the missile drops off. At a closer range, missiles are harder to evade. That is because there is less distance to close between the two aircraft prior to the motor burning out. That typically means more energy for the missile to use to maneuver to hit its target. If you fire an Aim-120 at 9 NM they are extremely hard to defeat. As far as the warhead, that is a better question for Razbam and ED to answer. Definitely pickup Tacview, if you like it, throw the Devs some money and buy a copy - it is worth the money. This one tool will help you more than you can imagine when it comes to understanding missiles in DCS.

I hope they do, but I have doubts.

It should be available on the 2nd. A lot of times they reference US time, someone from ED can be more specific. On steam you will most likely need to re-download. For Stand-alone this is the first time, so we don't know. Someone from ED would need to speak up on this.
-
That is not the argument that was made. Posters were discussing "Magic Carpet" which is a newer version of an ACLS. ACLS has already been announced as a planned feature.

What new feature of the Hornet are you most looking forward to?
Revelation replied to Wags's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
It was sold at pre-order at a discount. There is also a discount on the bundle starting on the 2nd. I'm sure your boss would be incentivized to pay you less.... Either pay the price or wait until it goes on sale, it's a brand new module, no reason to complain about the price. Your idea can be achieved by the Mission Designer; no reason to develop a totally new module to achieve what you want. No one flies DCS because things are "even." It's up to you as a pilot to fly your aircraft in a way that maximizes your airframe's capabilities while minimizing your opponents. No, just no. ED has already stated that it was their best selling module and they were very happy with sales. Now it can always be better, that is a given. What I believe is ED is looking to capture newer pilots that have never flown DCS before. When ED made DCS World free, there was an influx of players. Some of those turned into paying customers. I'm sure ED has access to data on Steam Free Weekends and the conversion rate of players. Just like they have data on when is the best time to have sales and what discount elicits the higher number of "fence sitters" to turn into buyers. Free Weekends is simply another strategy for ED to increase the player base. The only thing I saw wrong about the Free Weekend was that there was not enough publicity on Steam. I think that is a great tool that was not fully utilized. The notifications on the forum will be missed by all except for the current player base. -
I've used it when jumped by fighters. I have also used it when miscalculating my dive and I needed the extra angle to avoid hitting the ground. Use it sparingly though... Majority of the flights, I don't need nor use it. Agree, this would be a nice "feature."

With all of the great input you received, if you are still having trouble, please post a trackfile and the .miz and we can take a look at your setup and you procedures.

Hold my beer... -
I find that it fires just fine at targets inside of 22NM.

Leatherneck split up, forming two independent companies: Magnitude and Heatblur. Magnitude went on to own and work on the Mig-21 IP. You will find their section under the third party area.

[NEED INFO] Last update on OB - My install wont launch
Revelation replied to VDV's topic in Installation Problems
If you couldn't install it how was it crashing every time? The OB update was released yesterday and you are complaining that they weren't johnny on the spot for you? These are user forums, not tech support. If you want help directly from Eagle Dynamics, the company, you should open support ticket. I thought you couldn't install it? Did you try a repair? ED is not responsible for ensuring your mods work; you are. ED are also not responsible for any issues your mods cause. Maybe that is why the OB update wouldn't install... -
You are the only one experiencing it. Outside of the one update that wiped the keybinds for the Hornet, everything has been just fine control-wise.

In real life there were enough instances of one or more mechanical fins not deploying on a snakeeye that they developed a parachute retarding function - hence the 82Y.
-
I don't think more power is what is needed. It is almost as if the individual bomblets aren't modeled. I think if the MK20 and the CBU99 were more like the CBU-87, which they are in real life, would solve a lot of issues with these bombs.
