As per title, black flicker when looking in certain direction, appears in bars across the screen, does not show up on the monitor, so screenshots not working. Will attempt to get a shot of it, and will clear logs to post a clean set. Anybody else with this problem please post in this thread, thanks!

Fixed for crash at "loading terrain" (Crashed 100% of the time at this point before) Now crashes at end of loading sequence as game loads into cockpit aprx 75% of the time BUT IT WORKS THE OTHER 25% OF THE TIME!!!!!!!! :):megalol:

Also important to note that DCSW2 has a far better lighting model and 9 times out of 10 will have better contrast (take a look at the screenshots). This makes a big difference on the DK2, as the OLED screen excels at high contrast viewing. If the framerate is >75 then you can easily see the gauges (temporal AA). Screen door and low res still not great, but engine graphics make a big difference.

Depth buffer is information taken from the game about how far away things are. Reshade doesn't know/is unable to get information from DCS about the depth buffer, and so any tools that rely on the depth buffer (like depth of field) won't work. The asterisk allows you to see exactly what reshade "sees" in the depth buffer, with white->black illustrating distances. When you turn it on in DCS you see all white, because reshade doesn't know the depths so sets them to 0/infinity

did he just say they are developing the FW190?
sam777777 replied to 9.JG27 DavidRed's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Friends don't let friends fly high. -
What DCS really needs is some soft body, or pseudo soft body, physics a la ROF. That way damage could be dealt on a more realistic basis, with airframe stresses causing the failure of more than just the part that hit the ground.
-
The same thing happens with HE rockets vs infantry, you have to actually hit the infantry to get a kill now (no splash damage).

Yeah, the bloom effect around them is slightly too large, making it appear that they are moving even more slowly than they should. I can back up Sobek's claim that tracers hardly seem to move at all from the firing blocks.

Is this what the new sun is supposed to look like?
sam777777 replied to neroroxxx's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
This is what the sun looks like with HDR turned off. If HDR is on but not functioning you will get a bloom based sun, without the HDR effects (as seen in OPs attachment). -
I did it! Ran the engine off primer alone to keep mixture low, the engine almost completely started (it was running quite smooth!) on primer alone, I increased the throttle and then switched mixture to run to match the demand.
-
It seems to idle very high, which is odd.

I was wondering if somebody could go into the P51 stall and spin characteristics, as I am not learned in this area. I was very surprised by how hard it is to properly spin this aircraft (not snap spins, they're really easy to do). For starters it only spins in one direction, and exiting the spins is as simple as full throttle and letting the stick go.

I love starting the P51, I've started it from -20*C to +36*C but above 36 celsius things get really, really tough. I asked this question in the P51 startup thread and got this answer from Yo-Yo: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1575710&postcount=19 Essentialy, he has magic fingers and can start the engine at 40*C. I'm having a lot of fun with the engine in this thing, the complexity of it is mindblowing.

WIP DCS A-10C and Teamspeak 3 Integration
sam777777 replied to Headspace's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Erm... so... how do I install it? I've told it where my teamspeak path is, so that's running, but I can't get it to recognise my game folder. I've tried point the DCS A10C game to DCS world but it fails to recognise it. I'm... not quite sure what I'm doing here. EDIT: Ok, the issue was that I had a prior installation of TARS, and as such was not getting the DCS World game option in the TARS control panel. However, now when I am in game and flying TARS still reports "TARS not running". -
p51 startup got a little more difficult...
sam777777 replied to obiten's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
On a further note, has anyone managed to start the aircraft in VERY hot environmental conditions? I tried at 37 degrees Celsius and couldn't get a startup. -
Prop pitch & RPM Vs IAS theory questions?
sam777777 replied to MadTommy's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Best performance could mean fastest variation in range. I.e. the rate at which you can go from max drag/little thrust to maximum thrust from the propeller. I tend to agree that maximum speed would come from a coarser setting, but we really need an expert:thumbup: -
What kind of crosswind are you guys talking about? I fairly instinctively picked up the 10ms^-1 crosswind (20knt), which seems to be an operational extreme to me. I've read that the actual maximum is 25knts but I haven't tried that yet. Had an interesting incident with controls though, they kept locking themselves in the forward position, and then the hydraulic leaver came out automatically, as if I was somehow clicking those levers... so my first few landings had a failed downwind gear as well, after 4 landings I came down heavy and forced the gear up, breaking off the aileron. :music_whistling:

p51 startup got a little more difficult...
sam777777 replied to obiten's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
The engine simulates fuel flow MUCH MUCH MUCH better now, let the engine sputter out when you lean out the mixture to turn it off, or else your risk flooding the engine (which is extremely easy to do now, prime on the lean side). -

Oooo, do explain!? Hahaha, this should be interesting, so how does the technique vary with engine temp? -
- Mustang - Fully Loaded - Takeoff - Split Screen
sam777777 replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Yep, one thing that's so completely different in DCS when compared to Il2/cliffs of dover is the skidding physics. In Il2 it doesn't really matter, in DCS it's like in real life, nasty and unpredictable. -

sam777777 replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Well, would you look at that. It's WW2 era aircraft and it yearns to takeoff on a grass strip like its brethren. -
Ralfi, love your videos on youtube, and these gifs are awesome, but I don't recognise the one where you're landing with the shortest (read: non existant) final ever. The colours are really great, and the vignette/blur. Also, the second last one... I thought the plummeting plane was shot from a cinematic camera, really cool to snap down and see the cockpit. Fantastic.

Saitek X52 (non pro) OR Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas X?
sam777777 replied to SyntaxError's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I'm a big fan of thrustmaster sticks, almost all of mine have been TM. I currently fly with a TM Hotas X, the feel of it is great and it lasts for ever! That being said, for DCS A10 the x52 is the way to go, simply due to the gratuitous amounts of buttons. Unfortunately I found it quite nasty for my hand, using it for rudder was awkward and it started spiking and dying within 3 years  -
Thanks, I found I could do it by changing the tasking of the flight as well. Now to figure out how to load the separate tanks differently.

That's correct, the expansion of the gas is to negate the input of energy into the system, much like how an equilibrium reaction in chemistry favours the side that negates any input into the system (Le Chatelier's Principle).
