Aw, come on. You don't need a little fan on your desk. Every helicopter has a big fan on it to keep everyone cool. I know this because when that big fan stops, everyone starts to sweat:pilotfly:

Get'en too dah Choppah... where's the control indicators?
Balzarog replied to javelina1's topic in Virtual Reality
Same with me, although the controls indicator isn't much use. Only about 1/2 of the indicator shows. -
1. Open the main settings menu on the start up screen. 2. Open the Controls tab. 3. Click in the module box , and scroll all the way to the bottom to select UI Layer. 4. Left-click in the cell you want to bind. Don't double click the cell. DCS World 1.5.7 has a bug, and double-clicking won't allow you to bind the button or switch. 5. Left-click the Add button. 6. Press the button or activate the switch to which you want to bind the VR Center command. 7. Select the OK button. 8. I would suggest binding the "as escape" and "VR Zoom" commands at the same time. It makes it much easier to use the commands when you're using your VR. Binding the commands in the UI Layer enables them for all your modules, so try to use buttons or switches that you don't use for critical functions in other modules.

Please forgive me for this stupid question, but why Iwo Jima? Iwo Jima is a very small island (about 9 square miles) with, I believe two airfields. Basically, the only airplanes that used those airfields were the P-51 and the B-29 (B-29s landed there only when damaged or low on fuel). Would the P-51s be escorting B-29s to bomb Japan? What purpose would be served by an Iwo Jima map?

Then I stand corrected. As I said, I was a bubble-chaser, and it was almost half a century ago.

Nope, never been near an F-16. I worked on F-4s for four years. The F-4 had four Bullpup bays on the belly of the fuselage. The Bullpup was loaded into the bay so that one-half the missile diameter protruded. After the Bullpup was fired, hydraulically operated doors closed down to fair in the fuselage. The F-4 was designed to carry both A2A and A2G. As I said in my post, I wasn't in Ordanance, so I didn't know how they were used.

The USMC F-4B and F-4J that I worked on from 1970 to 1973, carried Bullpup missiles. I don't know if they were AGM-12s (I was hydraulics/pneumatics) but they were Bullpups. I'm pretty certain they were air-to-air.

The U.S. uses a blue body for its practice munitions. While the seeker heads, guidance system, etc. are usually issue, the main body of the practice bomb, missile, grenade, or any other munition is always blue.

I was using the same profiles, and experienced similar issues. I noticed it in my trim modes of my hat switch. I noticed that with my aileron, elevator, and rudder trim, one or more trim knobs or wheel moved when I energized another. I fixed the issue by deleting the profiles of the affected aircraft and reinputted them using them using the printed graphical profiles. The profiles you downloaded, while excellent work, are lua files, and are very old. Both the open beta and the open alpha (1.5 and 2.1) have been worked and updated many times since the profiles were done and the updates could be messing with them. Perhaps it is coincidental that deleting the profiles and repairing the worlds eliminated my issues, but maybe the profiles should be looked at to determine if they're conflicting. By the way, the affected aircraft also happened to be using the "special" profiles that assign "alternate bindings."

BoxxMann's Tips - Adjust Seat/Eyepoint with VR
Balzarog replied to DerekSpeare's topic in Virtual Reality
DCS 1.5.7 has a bug that won't let you assign a key or button by double-clicking in the cell. You have to left click on the cell, and then click on the ADD button at the bottom of the window. Perhaps it has other bugs as well. I do know that you can map the function to a controller button in the UI Layer of the Controls tab of the Options at the main screen. I have done that for "recenter VR," "VR Zoom," and "as escape" in the UI Layer controls. -

So the --force_disable_VR needs to be AFTER the quotation marks? -

Changed it to the DCS.exe and added the trigger. Still no joy. -
BoxxMann's Tips - Adjust Seat/Eyepoint with VR
Balzarog replied to DerekSpeare's topic in Virtual Reality
I tried appending the above --force_enable_VR and --force_disable_VR to the target in my shortcuts. When I hit apply, I got a message rejecting them. I typed them in exactly as presented using the space between exe and --, and the capitalization. I'm unsure why it didn't work. I did notice that my shortcut was to dcsupdater.exe (it didn't work when appended to that) and that the executable in my DCS open alpha folder was run.exe, not DCS.exe. Any thoughts? -
TM Warthog and a10C : just some binds ?
Balzarog replied to dureiken's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Homefries has created a really fantastic set of Warthog and Cougar Target profiles for virtually every aircraft in DCS. I downloaded it and tried it on my modules. They really are works of art. The only reason I don't use them is because I downloaded the DCS Warthog profiles by Polaris1 that are much less comprehensive, but also much more simple. I'm an old man and I had a bit of trouble understanding some of Homefries concepts. I also like to switch aircraft during a session and found switching profiles in Target more trouble than I was willing to accept. All that said, Homefries Target profiles are a phenomenal piece of work. Check out the threads by Homefries and Polaris1. One or the other might get you what you want. -
New Wheel Stand Pro for Thrustmaster Warthog attachment
Balzarog replied to ronht's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I don't see why it wouldn' t work. You can adjust the center post up and down to the perfect height for your application. -
Has anyone used the MFG extensions? If yes, have you had any issued removing the extension? I just ordered the Super Warthog Wheelstand Pro, and will be ordering a Warthog extension from someone to use with my Huey.

DCS Warthog HOTAS Profiles by Polaris & Schnix
Balzarog replied to POLARIS1's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I put the download in a folder I created for the TM profiles in my DCS open beta folder. I expanded it in that folder. You get the instructions when you expand the download. Installing the profiles are pretty well covered in the instructions that come with the download (when all else fails, read the instructions), but I put the profiles in the aircraft "Saved Games" input folder. I put the alternatives where the instructions said to put them. Make sure you follow the instructions exactly, or the profiles might not load properly. -
Polaris has a thread in the Input - Output subforum where he provides a link to his EXCELLENT collection of Warthog profiles, including one for the Huey. Just be aware that they are for the assignments in 1.5. I've noticed that the assignments sometimes don't match those in 1.5. Nothing major, just some minor differences that can trip you up. The UH-1H profile has some curves assigned to the axes. I started off using the curves and saturations in Chuck's guide, but after about 8 hours of flying, I removed them.

FM Homeing - Why doesn't it work? What am I doing wrong?
Balzarog replied to leonsilver's topic in DCS: UH-1H
Thank you very much Sir! As a Noob in DCS, I need all the help I can get with navigation. I've downloaded your single missions files and will try them. Were there any changes to the Rebel Base and Mt Elbrus Rescue files or just the Stray Eagle? -
FM Homeing - Why doesn't it work? What am I doing wrong?
Balzarog replied to leonsilver's topic in DCS: UH-1H
In the mission "Stray Eagle," the ELT homing beacon doesn't work. The CDI needle doesn't deflect at all. I've flown all around the stray eagle after he says he's activating it, but the needle never deflects and I have to find him by the smoke. In the Mt. Elbus rescue mission, the needle deflects. It's frustrating in Stray Eagle. -
Yes, you must have the NTTR maps for those campaigns since the aggressor squadrons operate out of those airfields. I assume you'll have to buy the NTTR after the merge to 2.5 also.

Trim isn't meant to be a "straight and level autopilot." Too many factors affect the trim of an aircraft for that. You burn fuel from a wing tank that causes that wing to be lighter, less fuel means less weight which increases speed and changes the weight to drag ratio. Trim is there just to help keep you from fighting the stick. You still have to fly the aircraft. Trim to where you have to apply only slight pressure on the stick to maintain straight and level, and use the throttles to change altitude while maintaining straight and level attitude.

Through The Inferno (Dynamic DCS) - Public US Server
Balzarog replied to deadlyfishes's topic in Multiplayer
Thank you very much for the offer. I do join the TTI servers (both 1.5.6 and 2.1.1) occasionally, but mostly just for free flight since I still can't land the -1H. Have to improve my coordination of the cyclic and collective. The TTI server is one of my favorites.
