If I recall, the F-2 is one of the most expensive fighter jets around.. something like 2nd to the F-22 What makes it so expensive?

I think the Super Hornet inlet seem to "curve" or some sort of "zig zaging" inside.. Judging from some pics i saw around the net.. I don't know about the Legacy Hornets though. I also thought the F-16 has a simple inlet.. So it also has some variable ramps inside?

Oh i see ^ So the Ramps go fully up or down depending on the Airspeed or AoA. btw, are ramps designed to make the air going into the engine slow down into subsonic speeds when the aircraft is flying beyond mach 1?

I know the F-15 Inlets sort of droop down when on the ground and such and it is automatic... I'm just interested to know what flight conditions would make the inlets droop down or go fully up.. Thanks ^

That's what I'm talking about.. thing about Russian combat aircraft is that, when they add something (avionics etc..), another capability or perhaps being built for export, the same aircraft gets a new variant designation ^; I think this messy Flanker Family designations could be a nightmare for those who archive files in Sukhoi OKB offices or maybe the NATO Intelligence people.. :D The Su-30MKM seems to be the only Definitive Su-30 variant for me.. I mean it's very easy to distinguish the MKM from other Su-30s because of the MAWS antennas, Laser warning devices and such.. So that's 3 pieces of Su-30MK2 and another 3 Su-27SKM in the future Going back to the very topic of this thread.. If TNI-AU will only have a grand total of 6 Flankers, then the RAAF Super Hornets will obliterate them from the sky, that's for sure.. (Not considering other support such as SAMs, AWACs and other fighters maybe..) 24 vs 6.. that's a futile fight.. If I'm understanding it correctly, the Su-27SKM seem to be the single seat equivalent of a modern Su-30XXX (Insert any letter/number) Then what would be are it's supposed difference to the Su-30KI that never seem to materialized? (Couldn't forget about this Su-30KI for associating it with a "Hyped" illustration at deviantart lol)

I'm just curious.. What Flankers does the TNI-AU (Indonesia Air Force) have right NOW? I mean their current inventory.. I remember reading about a "Su-30KI" a few years ago.. I initially thought it was some sort of Single Seat version of the Su-30MKI for India.. ...turns out it was intended for Indonesia but alas~ they only seem to have procured Su-27SK's that doesn't even have Thrust Vector.. (Is this correct?) Anyways.. I'll honestly say, the Flanker Family designations just messes up with my head~~ I mean one Flanker Variant seems to get an "Brand New" Designation when it receives some forms of upgrade or additional parts... then another name designation again it it receives another upgrade.. or better yet.. will have a different Aircraft model name/numbering altogether Something like, Su-27 -> Su-27XYZ -> Su-30ABC -> Su-30EFG and so on.... I dunno, maybe my memories about aircraft names had been shuffled badly or so.. ^^;

Not sure if this has been posted already or under the topic.. but I think this might be worth considering especially in a combat situation.

At least we are all still bounded by this amazing field called Aviation ^^ I know we all have differences in Aircraft preferences (and sometimes may have very conflicting beliefs and thoughts) but I firmly believe we are all under one Umbrella of enthusiasm. Pilots, non pilots, military personnel or just ordinary people, we love aircraft^^ All Aircraft, regardless if it is Western, Eastern or originated from someplace else are amazing pieces of machinery. Most people seem to overlook how complex they are. ;) My~ I've become so sentimental and probably off topic too :xmas: :beer: :D
