DCS: Black Shark, Russian Version has gone gold
-Skipper- replied to Wags's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
At least we have something like a release-date, now. And as Wags explained, it's not only patching those language-files. Looking forward to that manual, so I can build a few panels over the holidays :D @hitman -
:D 1:0 for GGTharos

Roger that. I think most beta-testers already gave some insights on performance of unpolished versions, so I guess the final runs even better. Besides that, as soon as the game is released, there will be various threads opened how to improve FPS and what you need and what you get. So, let's stay calm and hope for some official news.

Well, as you can see from the statements here, it wouldn't, as there are many people out there, who would like to test if their system is capable of running the game BEFORE buying it. A prerelease-demo on the other hand, would have pushed back the release, I guess, considering that ED is a rather small team of developers and Demo and Game would have had to be finished parallel.

Arctic? Not really :smilewink: But this Thermalright SI-120 in combination with a good 120mm fan does a really great job. :D I used to have an EVGA 680i and 3.6 was quite easily achievable. With my new AbitX38 I ran successful memtests with both, 3.9 and 4 GHz. It's just that the passive cooling of the board needs additional fans then, to keep temperature in levels I feel comfortable with and I don't like the additional noise for that little performance gain. IMHO it depends a lot on the PowerSupply and the memory you use. The rest is a lot of passion needed to fiddle around with the settings. ;)
-
Indeed. I run mine at 3.8GHz from day one - aircooled! Never get anything above 56°C. But anyway, these numbers are just rule of thumb. You can probably run it on a system with lower settings perfectly, if you have set up your machine with a little planning. ;)

Good idea! I was already about to post something over at Giga, a German TV-show for console and PC-games, but I'd like something more substantial than a post in Russian, before I do that. If you post a link and get the latest news from February 27th, any outsider is turned down instantly. :noexpression:

Quote from FAQ: Q: Will there be a DCS: Black Shark demo? A: Right now our primary focus is on finishing DCS: Black Shark and making it available to you. Once this task is complete, we will evaluate the creation of a playable demo. No decision has been made at this time.

Thanks! Looking forward to some solid news.

Estimates are, that the localized versions will be available about a month after the Russian release. But that's just guessing, IMHO.
-
Great news! Hopefully we will see an official statement, soon. :music_whistling: If Oct. 17th will be the release-date for the Russian version, I guess we will get some information pretty soon. Maybe if the Russian version is released, they'll release the translated manuals? Anyway, some official information would be appreciated. @ =4c= Hajduk Veljko Same for me. :D

Cockpit-labels have already been translated as you can see in previously released producers notes. I guess much more work than the translations of the text-messages is probably the translations of the radio-messages, though, and get them recorded in different languages (or at least in English, too). But if we are at localizing, I doubt it will be long until we get some long awaited news. On the other hand, I don't give a cent on that release-date, as long as it not officially announced here. According to 1C StormOfWar: Battle of Britain is due to release at the end of 2007 - It's rather end of 2009, though. :(

:D Cool! I visit your site on at least a weekly basis, looking for your nice videos and explanations or just to get some inspiration for modding or pit-building. :smilewink: As stswrebel I have both, the Cougar and X52, but due to some broken potis I mixed my Cougar up with an old gameport Fighterstick fitted with X42 potis. An unholy breed, I know, but it works extremely precise, especially with my current stick-extension. :D But as I just got a cheap replacement for original potis, I will probably revert them to their original configurations and then an extension for the Cougar would be really handy.

I think so, too. I'm pretty happy to see you offer the collective at a reasonable price at ebay. Most professional producers of input devices for simulations think there's only Millionairs playing theses sort of games... Are we going to see a similar release for the stick-extensions, too? Right now, I only play fixed-wings-sims, so this stick-extensions would be more reasonable for my limited gaming-budget, right now. :( PS: Nice Avatar. Watched Wall-E yesterday - definitely a movie watch together with your girlfriend :smilewink:

I recommend the vlc-player: It even plays Quicktime-movies and flv's (Flashmovie-Files used by youtube and similar websites) http://www.videolan.org/ You won't need to search for the right codex with this player.

DCS: Black Shark GUI Update - 20 Sept 2008
-Skipper- replied to Wags's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
LOL :drunk: -
Yes, that would be awesome. I'd like to repeat it: World In Conflict really has some breathtaking ideas in this area, especially in interaction between their own forum and the game itself. E.g. the Avatar you have in the forums is displayed on your units ingame! Well, let's face it, one of the biggest point in modern games and about the longlivety for LockOn is it's multiplayer-part. And with the ability to use features of the Uplink capability, this may even be more true, though the aim currently is for coop-play. For the Apache- and Hind-modules, multiplayer will be even more interesting. I got a couple of friends who don't want to fly themselves, but hopping as a gunner in my helo will motivate a lot of my friends to find the way in multiplayer-flightsims and I doubt that I am alone with this experience. So one major goal should be to make multiplayer-games, settings and servers as easy accessable as possible, IMHO.

DCS: Black Shark GUI Update - 20 Sept 2008

 :megalol: ... I did on the weapons loadout.... :poster_oops: -
Good idea to make it a sticky! Imrpoved Multiplayer-Support: - Serverbrowser - preferably with ability to start private and open Chats or (Group-)IM - Buddy-Lists and functionality to join server friends are playing on - Squad-Functionalities (make up squads or groups and ability to join them - just like the "social groups"-functionality on this very forum) - interactive mission planning (or at least a map capable of accepting notes and drawings and sharing them to others, e.g. in a group or squad) - Dedicated Server + Config GUI - Ingame Communications - Predefined RadioCommands audible for other players - Radio (e.g. Tower and Awacs) audible for all players tuned to these channels - Share personal markings (noseart-like motives in preset positions - just small in size to share with other players while playing) - Randomized mission-parts. E.g. secondary targets or AntiAir scattered beyond the flightpath and the target-area, to fill the missions with replayable life. Dunno if this will already be possible in BS: Ability to add aircraft-skins instead of replacing them. Oh, and while you're at it: A fully dynamic campaign like in Falcon4, please. :D

Roger that, thank you. Well, I guess this will become a lot more important with the AH64 module and maybe that's also part of the new engine? -
DCS: Black Shark GUI Update - 20 Sept 2008
-Skipper- replied to Wags's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I guess it will rather be like you have the same settings for offline and online. You merely start with another .exe, so you don't have to load multiplayer-content when playing single player and vice versa. A lot of modern games uses this feature. The best thing about it: Most games that do have a combination of key for online-playing and CD-check for offline playing. :smilewink: Does that also mean we will get some sort of server-browser and community management ingame? I don't know if you guys know "World in Conflict", but it's one of the best games, especially in these features. You can open Squads/Clans and Groups ingame, recruit, assign and organize matches, chat and IM, friendlist, etc. I think at least some of those features would increase the online-usability a lot. -
DCS: Black Shark GUI Update - 20 Sept 2008
-Skipper- replied to Wags's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
From the looks and my experience, I guess such a GUI is much more scaleable, as it probably does not consist of prerendered graphics, but rather works like a scaleable website, to name a common example. Well, at least I guess so. :smilewink: -
