  1. Huh. It's too bad Chuck Owl didn't do a guide He said while stomping a hole through the floor.
  2. I honestly don't think any airframe is limiting, given good choices by the lesser aircraft pilot, and terrible choices by the greater airframe pilot. If an F-14 pilot's decision is to save the Phoenix missiles for later, but decide to get in an actual gunfight with a MiG-15, they're risking the chance of having a bad time when their primary advantages are wasted.
  3. :smartass: Nope, just an adult who is getting sick of people acting like spoiled, immature brats on an internet forum. Good start I suspect, and might be going out on a limb, but there's a chance that your response lacked tact or any sort of adult behavior. Yep, but the people who are flipping out and going off the rails are absolutely insane. Which is why I defend them, they have a pretty good track record. I feel the need to support that. And you were doing so good. I was going to give you a treat. Now you get to sleep in the laundry room. Bad!
  4. <Random Thought> I kind of wish the F-14 had HARMs, because I'm watching Bug Jockeys use them as expensive javelins for their insect olympics right now. </Random Thought>
  5. This is a low IQ statement. You've immediately equated any defense of HB as a being done by someone with low IQ. The problem isn't asking for updates. The problem is doing it across multiple threads, once a day, with a lawsuit threat, or when they don't adhere to whatever timeline came to someone in a dream, presented by a glowing frog named Sebastian. So to preemptively call people defending HB is the logical fallacy of poisoning the well.
  6. I'm telling you, anyone who has flown the Viggen is going to be fine when it comes to flying the F-14A, let alone the F-14B. I rarely get the compressor bang anymore, and that's usually associated with having to deal with a kid doing something to distract me while I'm flying.
  7. I'm going to go with the bare minimum scenario. You now have your own personal AWACS sitting in the back seat, calling out targets for you personally. He's much more than that, it seems, but even just the bare minimum is incredibly helpful.
  8. Where is my ice cream?! I want my ice cream!! I WILL SUE YOU IN A COURT OF LAW IN TRENTON, NEW JERSEY I'm just here to shitpost and chew gum, and I actually bought some gum at the store yesterday so now my breath is cinnamony fresh and I can do both.
  9. Also, less mechanical complexity is a bonus.
  10. Really. Alright. That actually completely changes my setup, but gives me better options.
  11. This is my somewhat moderately scientific attempt at setting up controls for the T16000M I don't have head tracking, so I've bound the stick to view, since I shouldn't need it up front. I'm considering setting up second stick just to do RIO work, unless the Tomcat allows dual binds. This is just mine. I don't advocate everyone using this, just a guide for people to get an idea of what might be useful.
  12. I'm still on Byzantine Time.
  13. Uhhh Yes. (not as much as I should, apparently)
  14. Okay. Aerosoft's Tomcat doesn't always respond right to what I'm trying to do, and not everything is modeled due to sim limitations. My approach and break is right, but a lot of the time the wings just...don't cooperate. I'm looking forward to being able to instantly select bomb or auto, and not worry about having to count clicks on the sweep button. I have the landing checklist down, and have worked on spin recovery. I'm kind of worried that everything I'm learning that doesn't involve flipping switches or following procedures is going to be lost when I try what I've used in FSX in DCS.
  15. Biggest problem I have with the Aerosoft Tomcat is that it doesn't have an auto sweep bind. I have to manually set it back to auto at the break (aka full forward), and there's a significant delay for it to go into position. Sometimes that's even lead to the wings being in bomb position at the beginning of downwind, which turns into a giant mess. Is this real Tomcat behavior, or just one of the quirks of the plane in FSX?
  16. I kind of suspect I know where, in my psyche, I rejected the Hornet and embraced the Tomcat. Through all of high school, I hated using my calculator. I was never the best at math, and hated the way it was taught by almost every single one of my teachers (I've since figured out that I had shitty math teachers, but I digress). I can't tell you how many times a teacher got angry at me for not using a calculator for getting the answer, only to dock me points for not showing my work when I did use a calculator. So I just started writing down everything I could in regards to math. I'd show how I'd get to the point. Granted, almost every one of my junior high or later teachers would dock points because that wasn't the way they taught me how to do the problem (the one who pushed me to do math by hand, though, was the best math teacher I've ever had, even if I thought she was a bit...uh...hyper). The Hornet is a TI-84 calculator. Does a lot of cool things, plots stuff out, tons of memory, you can even play games with it. You just punch the numbers in, and you get out of it what the calculator says is correct. The Tomcat is my beloved blank sheet of paper. You have to do all the math in your head, or you can doodle, or you could write a screed about Pythagoras fighting crime in pre-earthquake San Francisco. You have total control, but you had better listen to your equations, and learn from your small mistakes.
  17. It’s not an age thing. I’ve know a 17 year old who went to school and worked to support his little siblings (no parents in the picture). I’ve known a 50 year-old who throws a full-on, email the CEO fit every time she doesn’t get her way. Age is not indicative of how grown up one is. It’s being able to take your lumps, or even knowing when you’re taking a lump. It’s how you react to your situation. It’s unfortunate, but I think that the whole VEAO situation is going to affect Third Parties from hear on out, as everyone is going to be a little more leary of promises made due to the P-49 situation.
  18. (Shh, I was going to leave him hanging)
  19. Do you know what's vague?
  20. I think that, and this is my personal opinion, at least one person is stating that you are acting childish about this. Okay, now two people are saying it; You are acting childish about this.
  21. Do you want to know what else is vague?
  22. I'm either going to mentally rename him my dog's name, or I'm going to set up a voice attack profile where my dog's name brings up the menu. So I'm trying to avoid the bitching betty connotation.
