What did you get? Did you build yourself?
-
That's probably a "best guess" indicating Q1 or early 2010 when it was stated the target release date. I'm sure if it was that close there would be some sort of word from Wags/EB confirming a release date. It would be GLORIOUS of the 26th were the date...but I wouldn't bet on it. :)

Man I have to say that DRM may be annoying as hell, but I could see myself having a lot of fun with this title. ... . . . . . .
-
ew, the guy's VO bugs me..."ifast" better watch out...apple may have the rights to that name. ;) The CG stuff at the top confused me a bit. I guess that was just a demonstration and not actual gameplay, or SIMplay.

Now if only F.C 2.0 releases ... we could do a tribute formation flight ..... how about it guys??? ;) ;) I can't wait to fly this beast with the new terrain textures of semi 6DOF cockpit. Thank for posting!

Wow this game is actually pretty darn cool! I've been playing off and on a bit lately (360) and at first I couldn't get into it. But tonight wow! EVERYBODY was sticking together, multiple classes so everybody was healing/supplying everybody around them and we moved through objectives as a unit. As far as "run and gun" type of games this one takes the cake for me by far. The sounds are unimaginable. Playing with some $$$$ audio headphones the doppler effects are most impressive. Wow it's way too late...I feel like i'm 16 again.

You don't see that type of **** in here very often...wow

A2A's p47 is a great bird as well. Shows you Ww2 aircraft weren't just throttle forward to go. Climb speed, mixture control, manifold pressure, oil temp, engin temp, oxygen levels above 10,000 feet etc all have to be carefully monitored on top of navigation and situational awareness. It gives a true sense of what the young pilots had to manage back in the day. For me it sure gives a nice hands on approach to historical aviation. So fsx may be boring for some, but is a huge learning and entertainment tool for others. I still can't believe Microsoft abandoned that franchise.

I really don't think there's any competition right now for DCS. Definitely not in the way MW2 is going head to head with BFBC2. As I've stated before, sometimes general aviation is all some people want to do. I don't know why but for some reason flying from my local INTL airport to wherever else using VOR or IFR landing in low viz etc is exciting. It will be even more exciting doing it in an F-18. ;D
-
They have missile lock, counter measures systems fail when you get hit etc. So this has some form of combat, just not the kind offered in a combat sim. Most combat sims don't have your local airport modeled either so generally if you love aviation you could love this addition. I love general aviation as much as combat, as long as the plane/chopper I'm flying is as close of a representation as possible :) If you're on the fence hold off and I'm sure many will post their feelings on it in these forums.

I don't think it's a competition. Dcs can't give you everything, only one module at a time. Fsx superbug will give you access to a "high fidelity" f18E in march. Maybe dcs does the f18, but it's a few years away so no problems leaning the ropes on the fsx version on the meantime. ;) I will ne purchasing the fsx payware no doubt! It's not going to be for everybody though. I'm sure there will quite an online community with this as well. Formation tactics, mock engagements, squad mid air refueling, carrier operations etc. I'm sure someone out there will start up a dedicated virtual squadron. Some of the most interesting online experiences can be found in the training. (my opinion of course). Plenty of room for both products if you can afford them! Edit: I'm sure the dcs dev team enjoy other sims as well. To be a good developer one would think being a fan of the genre is also in order.

Yeah that's a more logical attitude to have, unfortunately my spite is bigger than my logic ;). hehe!

I'll leave the tactical military games to BIS and maybe company X. I will not be purchasing another CM game no matter what it appears/plays to be. I wish I could find the interview link with one of the developers dated August 13th 2009. Reading it was painful because there was SO SO SO SO SO much untrue information in there it was like watching a kid who was lying to get out of trouble. The biggest part goes something like this "we want to give back to the community, they give us so much it's important we give back...we don't just want to take your money and be done with it." They tried to fly too high and got burned in the process I guess.
-
They did...it's just sad because they had to "rob" for that money. Sold a product behind the promise of future support (4months doesn't is hardly support). Anyway it's more a principle thing for me and the fact the tactical shooter will never come to the console which I Jess isn't a bad thing given the direction of consoles.

It was announced today over at the flashpoint forums that no further DLC or patch work will be released for dragon rising. Four months after it's release!!! Leaving a huge hole in the community. Their focus is now on the future of modern war...I can't imagin anyone would buy a COde masters game after this lump of crap. I've never seen this type of deception and poor handling of a game release by a major developer.

CoD will be pay to play with next instalment

I paid to play warbirds for two plus years and that money alone was worth the squad select series every Sunday. We're talking 200 human planes in historical settings. It was the closest thing to true ww2 air combat I've ever experienced. Dedicated gci, no icons, no colour coding for gci to determine friend or foe, historical radar ranges etc. Being vectored through a fighter sweep to make a run at bombers with escorts never got old. So I'm all for pay to play when the game itself speaks certain truths. Cod in my opinion will never be more than it is now. My opinion is all. :) I'm sure the spoiled rich kids with too much time and not enough parental attention will enjoy this new experience ;). -
Yeah, I know what you mean actually. I personally am not excited for Bad Company 2, but it looks (and the demo) is entertaining enough that I could have some fun with it. You can say the same thing about hollywood movies though. Romantic Comedies in particular. More of the same with a little twist. It's not a pre-order or a buy on a first day thing, I've got FSX Superbug launching that I would like to concentrate on ;). F.C 2.0 is somewhere around the corner as well. :)
-
I'm not comparing the style of gameplay, but more so the entertainment factor (of course that's subjective). I'm more receptive to tactical slow "strategic" shooters (ARMA etc). Bad Company 2 is advertising what it is going to accomplish. Dragon Rising failed miserably in this field advertising so much more than it delivered. (Repetitive, lame missions that didn't utilize nearly enough of the vehicles, weapons or the island). The MP is a total bust and a half (the co-op teather is VERY limiting and the inability to choose/customize weapons even after you've beaten the game is also lame from a "game" point of view). If only dragon rising would have been as tight as Flashpoint ELITE for original XBOX (mission editor etc) it would have probably opened the door to a number of people curious about tactical shooters. Unfortunately they dropped the ball and pissed off a lot of console users in the process (as well as PC users <-- clearly a console port to PC). As long as these "fast shoot em ups" keep making hordes of money they will continue to develope. With Medal of Honor jumping back into the fray you can be sure that cash cow has far from expired. I've actually always liked Battlefield series (original and bad company) better than COD because of the larger maps and vehicles etc.

^^^ lol

360 for me as it's probably the last game that will keep it from becoming a door stopper for me. I was hoping Flashpoint would save it, but that was a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE disappointment. Unless it has tracker IR, then I may get for pC. Tracker IR and battlefield would be fun.

What kind of aircraft do you wan't to see next?
element1108 replied to d0ppler's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
You can do this with FSX. Purchase or download the planes/choppers get a few guys together and "transport" whatever goods you'd like to from X to Y. You can go across the globe or just down to the next base. You just have to use a little imagination ;). I doubt DCS will do a transport "logistical" module...if so it's way down the line. -

Dcs ww2 would be silly being it is already a 20/21st century time frame. Storm of war go! Don't get me wrong I looovr ww2 aviation, but a dcs version wouldn't be flyable with the other modules. -

Be too busy with a10 to worry about this cod fail. I can't believe how quick I tired of mw2. I think I got too old for it ;) -
Stand alone :)

I had LOADS of fun with the DOS version. Except my PC wasn't all that current when it came out so I had to play in VGA settings so I could maintain my fast framerates. C:/ef2000 :)
