reported Runway Attac: GBU-31 only makes small potholes
dmatsch replied to Limaro's topic in Weapon Bugs
looks like every road in eastern Pennsylvania! -
I am having the exact same issue as the OP. This was all working fine about a month ago, the last time I used my bluetooth earbuds. Using the monitor speakers, DCS sound is fine. All other applications work fine with both speakers and earbuds. Now in DCS, the sound is distorted and sounds like it's modulated. I've removed and reinstalled all the audio drivers and fiddled with every output setting in DCS. All have the modulated sound. DCS is the only application doing this.

until this gets worked out, make sure to make backups of your missions. I've had this mod completely hose missions I spent hours and days creating.

can't bind rudder to hat switch - TMWH

please stop. You're misunderstanding where I'm binding these. They are being bound in the correct locations. -
can't bind rudder to hat switch - TMWH
dmatsch replied to dmatsch's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
I checked. no axis controls, and all are bound in the correct location. In Axis Controls, bound the throttle slider to the rudder and it worked fine, however it's unflyable without three arms. I removed that, then bound rudder left and right to the throttle thumb hat 4-way switch (fwd and aft for left and right respectively). The whirlybird doesn't respond to the hat switch. -

high-end system performance issues -- stuttering
dmatsch replied to dmatsch's topic in Game Performance Bugs
That's nice. Thank for your thoughtful and insightful reply. I believe this was the answer given to similar questions 10+ years ago. And if we all just keep quiet about issues that are important to us -- the users paying the money for these modules, how is ED ever supposed to know what's going on with their own software and user base? Instead of defending ED pay model and dismissing issues you perceive as "complaining", perhaps the more people who "complain" about issues, the faster ED will prioritize the issues and add them to the fix list?? Yathink? ED seeing these attempts at discussion being "shot down" and dismissed by regular users would, in my opinion, make them think this is a localized issue to one user's PC setup and not the software as a whole. -
with new patch, cannot connect to localhost server
dmatsch replied to dmatsch's topic in Multiplayer Bugs
I can see my local server in the list, however when I tried to connect to it, it just goes back to the server list page. I updated, repaired cleaned removed mods, removed and reset firewall settings... I'm kind of at a loss. -

high-end system performance issues -- stuttering
dmatsch replied to dmatsch's topic in Game Performance Bugs
believe me, I obsess over system optimization, double so when it comes to DCS. My system is optimized in every single way I can tweak it without overclocking -- which I don't do. -
TM Warthog, no pedals as of yet. like the subject says, I can't seem to bind the rudder controls to a hat switch. I can bind it to the throttle slider axis, but I need an extra hand to work that. Anyone else with no pedals trying to work this thing?

I have a high-end system. Really. It's a screaming rig. I shouldn't have performance issues with ANY kind of software. In DCS, with the exception of the clouds, all of the graphics settings are either turned off or hobbled in the UI. I'm running 3480x@70hz DCS missions, with any more than a few units and/or with any kind of mission scripting brings DCS to its knees. We're talking slideshows here specifically with Liberation missions. This is getting ridiculous. Do you really expect users to fire up a local server and connect to that just to fly a Liberation mission? Now, with the latest patch, I am experiencing some local issues where DCS refuses to connect to that local server. The AI is so atrocious that mission scripting is necessary to get any kind of immersive experience out of the big, empty DCS default world. In effect, these performance issues are crippling the ENTIRE DCS immersive experience. Please, please, please fix.

After the patch last week, with no changes to DCS or Windows (that I know of), all of the sudden I can't connect to the local instance of DCS Server. It's on the same machine as the running game. I've included logs. The DCS game log only records client connecting then disconnecting. There were no firewall changes. DCS is still allowed as a whole, and I've previously added inbound and outbound rules to port 10308. Anyone else having these issues? dcs.log

this is the big issue when you upgrade from a twist-grip like my old MS Sidewinder to a higher end like the Warthog. You completely lose the fine-tuning of a rudder and brakes and go for the all-or-nothing with a bound control. There are no variances in the degrees of deflection when you press a button. It's one or zero -- full on or full off. I've spun out many times on the runway because of too much brake pressure, and helos are almost completely unflyable without rudder pedals. Helos don't really fly anyway; they just beat the air into submission. You can mimic degrees of freedom by tapping as said above but I, for one, am longing for the days my wife will let me blow $300 on a good set of rudder pedals.

DCS is a sandbox. A big, empty sandbox. ED leaves it up to you and the user community to create content.

Time is not very generous either when it comes to DCS -- even with an understanding family

yeah, no. not so much. DCS 3rd party mission generators: Liberation and Briefing Room. All here on the forums.

[ALL MODULES][SP/CO-OP] Liberation Dynamic Campaign
dmatsch replied to shdwp's topic in User Created Missions General
this is the most annoying part of Liberation. All flights have a specific take off time and TOT. You have to click the ASAP checkbox on your flight planner in Liberation before starting the mission. Even then it won't change your takeoff or TOT times, it'll just allow you in the cockpit for startup checklists. You can still take off, but if there's any kind of coordinated mission with escorts, sead, etc -- you'll still have to fly around waiting for them to hit their time triggers else you'll be flying alone. -
[ALL MODULES][SP/CO-OP] Liberation Dynamic Campaign
dmatsch replied to shdwp's topic in User Created Missions General
So, if I'm understanding this correctly... You have to start the mission and wait in the cockpit for XX time until your takeoff time. Then you get to WP1 and wait until your push time. Then you have to RTB and WAIT until the mission completes? Jeez. I wish I had more than a couple of hours a sitting to actually *properly* fly this sim! -
Showoff. Yes. I'm jealous.
-
This. And don't get your hopes up for the dynamic campaigns promised this year either. Nor the fixes for the terrible AI that makes almost every mission completely unplayable. But there SURE will be more new early access modules for everyone to buy

could someone please assist? I'm trying to import some FA-18 control profiles and the system doesn't seem to be picking them up. Attempts at this raises some questions: Why is the Load/Save profile buttons disabled in my game settings? Do control profiles go in the Game directory or the User directory? What's the naming scheme for the files? In the game folder "/mods/aircraft/XXXX/input" folders there are many files. Which one does the system pick up? any help on this would be great. I accidentally hit the "clear" button and my backup went corrupt

Thank you all for your hard work, dedication to your product and tech skills to pull it all off. As a fellow coder (C#), I can sympathize your plight -- ALL FOR NO PAY and the pure love of the game and coding/modding. Without all of you, DCS would be a big, empty sandbox. With the pleasantries out there for you to enjoy, may I please make a few requests for your new/current mods: 1. Test, test, test. Test the mod yourself, give the code to your friends to test, give it to your dog to test, THEN test some more. Make sure it works on systems OTHER THAN YOUR OWN. 2. Documentation. How to use your mod, how to install your mod, description, dependencies (WITH LINKS) etc. Assume a vanilla DCS install. 3. Mod packaging: Include the FULL folder structure in zip files so all users have to do is point it to the target system's root folder (game and user). OVGME ready, if possible. Don't make the user hunt for folders/files. 4. Test your mod again. Give it to your grandmother to test. If SHE can install and run, we're ALL good to go. 5. Congratulate yourself on a job WELL done. Like I said above -- all this wasn't easy. Test your code ONE MORE TIME, then publish like the wind!

If you have a HOTAS with dial controls or the like, you can bind the rudder axis to them. I've got a thrustmaster warthog stick and throttle and I bind rudder controls to the throttle zoom slider
