I think I know the answer to this but is Kursant a training campaign? I love the L-39 and content is VERY welcome but I'm more into scenarios than training.
-
May 18th confirmed.
-
Not sure about the stick but we don't have a pilot model yet for the AV-8B.
-
I'm not sure what the 'black out' is but I play DS On and MSAA Off and experience the TGP issues reported by others (dodgy contrast and a strange shadow/filter/overlay thing).

TPOD FLIR looks very bad and hard to read with recent update
DowntownSIX replied to Manzanita's topic in Resolved Bugs
The FLIR code belongs to ED, it's not a RAZBAM issue - the TGP on the A-10C is also useless now. NineLine has done a fair bit of work to put together a bug report for ED and it looks like there's a resolution in the next patch. -
CC isn't available yet, it's on the way but there's no ETA and nothing around here happens quickly.

@Thermal - excellent post, this is what I'm seeing in the A-10C and Harrier, this mad 'filter' plus the next to useless FLIR means they are on the shelf until this is sorted...it's not like I can fire Mavericks in the Harrier anyway since that's also broken. The lighting is much better though, so there's that.

Not cool, I just came back here from a 40 something minute session of watching Hot Shots videos on YouTube.
-
Fantastic, this seems to be overlooked more and more despite the rise of VR making it more important than ever. Thanks ED (now make one for the A-10C ;))

This. I have both and while the L-39 is stunningly modelled, I struggle to find a use for him. The F-5E is similar in concept (simple systems and avionics) but has more content and capability. I suspect with the F-14 just around the corner we'll see loads of F-14 vs F-5 servers pop up if MP is your bag.

It is a tough one but it REALLY depends on what you want from the module. I'd consider the L-39 and the A-10C at different ends of the spectrum and both are incredible modules. I guess I'll give you a run down of what I have and why. F-5E - Simple, quick and easy to get in the air, the technology is rubbish so it's all about the pilot. I love it. M-2000C - The only full fidelity 4th generation fighter we have at the moment until the F/A-18C drops. It's good, maybe great but doesn't feel as complete as some other modules and doesn't get my juices flowing like the F-5E. The bundled campaign is excellent. AV-8B - It's going to be good, but it's very unfinished at the moment and I'm not happy about the pace of development after dropping $70 on it. AJS-37 - I wanted it so bad but never got along with it for the same reasons that put you off. It is a top quality module, just not for me. C-101 - I bought this for the CC variant that still hasn't arrived and with the flight model as it is now, it's gathering dust. The CC is like winter in Game of Thrones, it's coming (never). F/A-18C - I've pre-ordered it, looks like it's going to be another A-10C level of simulation and scratch that 4th gen fighter itch. This might be the one for you. A-10C - When you want a study plane, this is the one. Very capable and a lot of work (in the good way).

Just in case ED are listening - another vote here for some A-10C love. PBR textures, a HUD rescale (so I don't break my neck on gun runs in VR) and maybe a pilot body. I'm not greedy. It's still undoubtedly one of the best modules we have and I'd be willing to pay to support an A-10C 2018 update.

Purchasing the Persian Gulf Map for MP, who's buying it?
DowntownSIX replied to F900EX's topic in DCS: Persian Gulf
I'll be holding off to see what the MP servers look like once it lands. Right now, other than a lot of Red Flag campaigns, NTTR is worthless (to me). -
Great find, I'm going to fire up the CV1 now and play with PD. I'm 20/20 vision but I swear I can't see a difference beyond PD 1.5, now I'll know!
-
Training has to be in Caucasus, you can't put training behind a pay wall (I have NTTR by the way, I'm not moaning). Campaign, we need water for Tarawa action so Caucasus gets my vote. Edit - OK, I see my point regarding training has been covered.

JTAC coordinates?
DowntownSIX replied to oho's topic in A-10C The Enemy Within Campaign (legacy version)
I keep a small pen and pad beside me to jot down coordinates and whatever else comes up. It's not perfect but it gets me by in campaigns and MP. -
Can I have some of what you're smoking?

I don't think we'll ever see a timeline so the "What's missing" thread is the best thing available. I agree the AV-8B development isn't moving all that quickly but judging by the lack of updates across the board recently, I suspect ED are allowing the deployment of bug fixes only until they can fix the major 2.5 issues. I expect module development is continuing, the updates just aren't being rolled out to the beta build to avoid conflicts. Disclaimer - I just made all of that up, Razbam could just be doing Scrooge McDuck dives into the piles of money they made from the early access. :music_whistling:

I'm going to muddy the waters. Today, Mirage, no question. It's a great module that's now pretty polished and comes with a fantastic campaign and an excellent manual. In terms of complexity, it's also very accessible so you won't have to read the manual for a week before turning the battery on. There is also the upcoming Red Flag campaign by Baltic Dragon which, judging by his previous works, will be a real treat. In 6 months to a year, the Mirage is going to be surpassed by the Harrier. It's dripping with potential but at the moment functionality is lacking, there are no training missions, the manual is basic at best and there is no campaign (though there is a great home brew campaign by SEDLO). I have zero doubt the Harrier is going to be brilliant but at the current rate of development, we're a while away from brilliant.

Do you have a link? That would be excellent news; the viewpoint/HUD scaling is the only thing holding the A-10C back (in VR), it's REALLY difficult to use at the moment. Some new textures would be great but too but not essential.

Just back from trying the first three missions of this campaign and I'm seriously impressed. The script and the voice acting is on point and more engaging than some of the campaigns I've paid for. Only a couple of things to feedback: 1. The voice generated characters. I understand you've probably done this because voice actors don't grow on trees but personally, I'd prefer the same voice actor playing multiple characters than any using a generated speech engine. 2. Let me turn the transcript off in the top right hand corner - in VR it's huge and at night it's like someone is shining a torch in my face. Top work mate, can't wait to get stuck into the rest of the missions.

+1 No menus of any kind, or subtitles, or kneeboards. I ended up here after an AV-8B night mission in NTTR which included low level flying and was almost impossible as to see any gauges I had to remove my NVG (due to them occupying the whole FoV in VR) which made avoiding mountains pretty tricky, so I ended up in this NVG on/NVG off dance. Let's lower the FoV on the NGV effect so we can 'look under' the monocular to read gauges.

Looks like this issue with NTTR buildings has been fixed with the new patch. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3430583#post3430583 I'll take my Mirage Red Flag Campaign now please :D
