Excellent, thanks for the heads up!
-
I didn't see anything in the change log, is this today's update?
-
I assumed we'd get it one day, am I being naive?
-
The most accurate thing I've ever read about anything related to DCS development.

Separate volume slider for "hear like in helmet"
DowntownSIX replied to OttoPus's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Yes please. -
This looks excellent, je suis anticipate.

I think my sarcasm was too subtle. I'm pretty sure the February 19th thing was a typo in the 'Road to Release' thread and now the tin foil patrol are in full code breaking mode.
-
Sounds like confirmation to me chaps - book Feb 19th off work.

I don't actually disagree with any of your points but I think overall the positive vastly outweighs the negative (for me). I haven't had the Viggen for very long and I haven't gone too deep into it's systems yet but I find it an impressive module from a quality perspective. Good: - Sounds are generally brilliant with a couple of exceptions - Systems modelling is top notch - Cockpit fidelity is excellent (at least in VR) - Free campaigns! Bad - Does anyone else engine at constant RPM sound like a looping audio file? - It's a bit 'jumpy'* - The collimated sight is no good in VR but I understand this is currently an engine limitation - The documentation is pretty weak - Training isn't particularly comprehensive which is a minor annoyance compounded by the weak documentation. *Anecdotally, going from mil power to AB causes my FPS to drop a bunch of frames for a second before recovering, as does clicking the RWR mode selector for some reason. The Viggen feels like it was made with love and although it's still not quite finished it's raised my expectations for the quality of the F-14.

No worries, thanks for the response. Red Flag campaign is on the list, subtitles or not, your work is top notch.
-
Enjoying this campaign a lot, first time in 2.5 and first time in VR and it's brilliant. Question though - is it possible to disable the subtitles for the player dialogue? I have allied flight reports and subtitles off but I still get subtitles at the top right of the screen. It's crazy distracting in VR, especially during the night missions.

** F-14 Road to Release + Christmas Update!! **
DowntownSIX replied to Cobra847's topic in Heatblur Simulations
I've been holding off on the Hornet expecting an immanent announcement on this based on the "...feels very much like a complete product..." comment but "sooner" is now sounding more like 6 months than 1. It's not a criticism, I just thinking out loud. -
No right click is a bit of an oversight and sort of renders the whole thing redundant if I can only toggle 2-way and 2-way switches one way!
-
I had a go and saw much the same performance as I do with PD 1.5 and no MSAA. Picture quality is comparable though, what it lacks in clarity it makes up for in clean lines and no shimmer so there's something for everyone. I had a good mess around last night and raising/lowering graphical options don't have affect FPS like I'd expect, despite FPS dips coinciding with periods of high GPU utilisation, so I'm going to try some of the other suggestions in this thread and delete .lua files etc and see how I get on. Right now it's all just a bit choppy, it gave me motion sickness for the first time in forever.

I didn't do any formal testing last night but with a 4790K and a 1080Ti I was hitting 90fps at altitude and went as low as 22.5fps in the weeds for the coastal strike Viggen quick start mission. That's with everything high, DS on, MSAA off and PD at 1.5. I need to do some fiddling to get 45fps stable.

ATC provide a QFE when you request landing via the comms menu. You MIGHT have to do some on the fly calculations though as I'm sure ATC use the inches of mercury unit and the L-39 uses millimeters of mercury.

Viggen Red Flag 16-2 Campaign Sample
DowntownSIX replied to Bunyap's topic in AJS-37 Viggen 16-2 Red Flag Campaign
Very welcome idea - I'll definitely check these out and pick up the full campaign if it's my flavour. -
I have a lot of time in the L-39 and picked the C-101 up in the sale because I have a soft spot for trainers. Internal and external models are great, audio is a highlight and the manual is complete (not everyone module can say the same). That said, the flight model is shocking. I have maybe an hour in the C-101 and I don't think even the CC variant will get me back in the cockpit until we have EFM. I think with the CC and EFM this will be a great module but at the moment I can't recommend it, especially with the L-39 available which is one of the highest quality modules I've flown, right up there with the AJS-37 and F-5E.
-
It is, but I don't think the new DRM allows for us to activate it against a DCS World account.
-
I expect the DCS World Store sale to start Friday. If you're looking for a trainer, the C-101CC is due very soon apparently - with EFM and the CC variant on the way it might be one to pickup in the sale in anticipation. That said, I have a lot of love for the L39.

** F-14 Road to Release + Christmas Update!! **
DowntownSIX replied to Cobra847's topic in Heatblur Simulations
This is a developer I can get behind, and based on the quality of the Mig21 and AJS37 I'm very pleased you guys are developing the F14. -
I had a good search for this but couldn't find anything. I grabbed these by 'stepping outside my cockpit' in Oculus. It looks like there is an area where a default skin is applied - not that it's one I recognise. I haven't done any structured testing but as far have some anecdotal observations: - It's present in both 1.5.x and 2.1.x in all liveries - It happens in SP and MP - The livery appears correct in all external views - The same 'default' skin is applied in all cases My only thoughts now are; is it a VR thing and is it just me? Apologies if this has already been reported and I just couldn't find it.
