Civilian Objects And Vehicles
Tomcatter87 replied to Eight Ball's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
For those of you who didn't see it, @Neo47 uploaded some wonderful liveries for @Eight Ball's Seaking mod. Looks more than promising - I'm already thinking of some missions I might build with those https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3334623/ https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3334622/ -
There is another Sea King my by Eightball, that one also contains a british version with radar radome. That one is also worth trying. In fact, I use both Sea Kings.

solved DCS constantly crashes at mission start
Tomcatter87 replied to Tomcatter87's topic in Game Crash
Allright, I got DCS working again. I did several things: - deacticated mods (that alone didn't work, though) - opened up my computer, dusted off the cooling fans and put aside some cables that were touching my RAM blocks - disconnected my USB hub. So one of those things helped. If I have time, I might try out if the USB hub or the mods were to blame by putting them back in, one by one. Thanks a lot for your help! -
solved DCS constantly crashes at mission start
Tomcatter87 replied to Tomcatter87's topic in Game Crash
Can't find anything with the windows tools. Can this stuff be also caused by something like a possibly faulty USB hub or USB controller? I noticed that one of my Thrustmaster MFDs behaves kinda weird lately, constantly disconnecting and reconnecting. I use it (and other stuff) together with an active USB hub. Didn't happen before, but I guess it can also be a symptome of my SSD drive quitting (?) -
solved DCS constantly crashes at mission start

Tried if the single-thread version of DCS works, still crashes. See log files here: dcs.log-20231202-175708.zipdcs.log-20231202-175711.zip -
solved DCS constantly crashes at mission start
Tomcatter87 replied to Tomcatter87's topic in Game Crash
Thanks, Adrian. I put all of my mods in the Saved Games Folder into another folder, deleted Metashader2 and FXO content, ran a Steam repair and checked my harddrive with the windows tools. Still DCS crashes - as I see now, not only in the Sinai Map, but on the other maps, too. Here's two more logs: dcs.log-20231202-174823.zipdcs.log-20231202-174824.zip -
Hey there, in a mission that could play without problems for a while, DCS now always crashes after some seconds, sometimes I even get a blue screen. I attached a log file (this time I didnt have a bluescreen). Any idea what the problem seems to be? dcs.log-20231202-165529.zip

AI Wingman blows up instad of taking off
Tomcatter87 replied to Tomcatter87's topic in Problems and Bugs
...little update: My AI wingman is able to take off if I set the flight to start at parking spot. Possibly the spawning point for the runway is bugged, touching the superstructure, maybe? -
Hey there, I just set up a mission where two Harriers take off from the HMS invincible. Both are set to take off from runway. But my AI wingman just blows up instead of taking off - without any movement. Didnt find any report about this - am I doing something wrong?

F14 - Positionlights only work when on ground
Tomcatter87 replied to LOW_Hitman's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I noticed that the wing tip lights are sometimes on, sometimes off (I set them to bright and turned master ext lights on, of course). Is there some kind of logic behind it - and, if @Callsign JoNay is right, is it supposed to be that way? -
I reported the same thing, according to Flappie, it's a confirmed bug and will be fixed.

Since i like to place the nice new Viking on my flightdecks, I noticed that they like to appear on parking slots that are blocked by static aircraft. As far as know, only the new S-3 does that. See attached screenshot.
-
For me, it mostly happens in longer missions. I mostly use the F-14 - sometimes and seemingly randomwise, the radio stops working. I cannot hear my own transmissions, can not see any subtitles, and AWACS, tanker or carrier stop responding. I can't tank in that case, and get bad landing grades because of "no proper comms". However my wingman seems to change formation if I tell him so, at least I think so.

Here's my two skin packs for the war hoover:
-
Dear community, as a naval aviation geek who likes correct squadrons on the flight deck, I was really looking forward to the new S-3 model that was introduced with DCS version 2.9 . However, there was only one stock skin without any squadron markings available - and so I created two skin packs for the Viking. One contains several High Visibility liveries, mostly from the 1980s, the other one more modern tactical low visiblity paint schemes. While the skins all represent real life paint jobs, they are not 100 percent perfect - some small logos might be missing, the airplanes serial number is untouched and they mostly carry the same modex no. The reason for that is that I wanted to create a handful of skins, representing a handful (or more ) squadrons matching our carriers (including the existing repaints for Forrestal and Supercarrier) and aircraft liveries. Since there is no official template and the new S-3 model sadly cannot be opened with the model viewer, those repaints were a lot of work and required a lot of trial-and-error-stuff, and constant checking and reloading missions in DCS itself. It would be great for the skinning community if ED could make the models accessible to the model viewer in order to create liveries and to hopefully improve the experience for y'all. @scorch71 was kind enough to let me use his despriction.lua and High Vis Painting as a base for my own work. Here's the low visibility liveries, including 10 skins for VS-21, VS-22, VS-24, VS-28, VS-30, VS-31, VS-32, VS-33 and VS-38: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3334240/ ...and the more colourful Vikings, 9 skins from VS-21, VS-24, VS-28, VS-29, VS-31, VS-32, VS-33, VS-37 and VS-38: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3334355/ To install the liveries, copy the folders to [DCS MAIN DIRECTORY]/Bazar/Liveries/s-3b and also to [DCS MAIN DIRECTORY]/Bazar/Liveries/s-3b tanker. The corresponding "liveries" folder in saved games works too, of course. If you want to use the special bottom texture for the tanker, open up the LUA file inside the tanker livery. Simply change the second column to {"low_S3B_Fus_Back", 0 ,"low_S3BViking_Fus_Back_Tanker_Diffuse",false}; and off you go (that means, you just have to add the apart "_Tanker" to that line ). The skins work for the S-3 Tanker without changing this, I think only the sonar buoy hatches will look like the normal S-3 then. Anyway, I hope you enjoy my skin packs - and if you do: I'd be happy to see some screenshots or videos of the different "War Hoovers" in action / on flightdecks / giving precious fuel.

I've noticed two issues with the new S-3: 1. The model has a hole in the belly, at about the place where the system operators sit. You can see inside the plane from below. 2. If the AI refuels (Tomcats, in my case) sometimes the plane which is being refueled slides up and stays about at the height or the S-3's wing. Dont know if it has to do with the F-14 or the S-3, though.
-
I'll try and make a video next time it happens. Thing is we won't be able to see what triggers it because it happens kinda randomly. But I'll retry the same mission next time.
-
As I wrote, since I could receive radio transmissions, electric power, radio function and mode as well as volume and frequency must have been working / set up correctly. They were alive, and no enemy units were nearby. I couldnt neither hear my own transmission nor see the subtitle.
-
Hey there, this is about something I encounter during some longer missions. I'm not sure if it's an F-14-problem, a DCS problem in general of if I accidentally hit some button in a tense dogfight It sometimes happens, as I said, in longer single player missions, that my radio stops working. I can still hear the radio calls from AI flights, but if I open up the radio menu, you cannot hear the pilot's voice. Also, for example after a call to AWACS to request bogey dope, there's no answer. Also, the carrier does not respond and I get bad grades for not communicating properly. If I order the wingman to change formation, he does not respond, but changes formation, strangely enough. Also the tanker doesn't respond and of course doesn't extend the hose. Is that a known bug or am I doing something wrong? Sorry I don't have a track file, but maybe some of you know about this, too.

Scorch71 let me use his description file as a base for mine, so I was able to release my first Viking skin pack. It's available here and contains a handful of repaints for atlantic and pacific fleet squadrons: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3334240/
