  1. Here's some of my recent favourites.
  2. Theres a switch next to the TACAN panel that controls whether the NFO/RIO or the Pilot has control over the TACAN.
  3. I got them to engage with Sparrows by selecting "Ignore AI decision to avoid attack" in the mission editor. However do not equip them with M model sparrows, they behave like fire-and-forget weapons at the moment.
  4. It seems to be a problem with the CFT Mod for the F-16 - if I deactivate that one, the L winders are there again.
  5. I quite like the sparrow. Up to the mid-to-late-eighties, it was the Tomcat's weapon of choice against fighters. The phoenix was reserved for bombers for a long time. With the AIM-7s unter the belly, you can carry more fuel back to the boat, you're lighter and more maneuverable. In 2v1 scenarios, the sparrow can be really good for taking out bandit number two from 15 nm, after the bandit lead has been taken out by your phoenix. Sometimes, Tomcats only carried one phoenix, so you'd need an AIM-7 for the second shot. It's also quite fun to fire the AIM-7 in boresight mode. You don't need an STT, but fly in direction of the target, of course. Good for shots "from the hip"

  8. I dont really think thats the right way to communicate with someone who spends free time developing things for our enjoyment, without asking for anything in return.
  9. Some things that helped me to fight against the AI, some points have already been written here: - Assign the Auto and Up position for the maneuvering flaps to your HOTAS. Try to leave them up for most of the time, set them to AUTO if you've become slow and/ or need to yank the nose around a bit more for a snap shot. - Avoid rolling and pulling Gs at the same time - better "fly the cross" like it's taught for the Tomcat. - When turning, try to keep the nose below the horizon. - Assign the roll limiter to your HOTAS, for example the paddle switch. That way, you can use the nice roll rate of the F-5 for a vertical scissors. As soon as the AI overshoots, try to place a gun snapshot. Because if the AI knows it has overshot, it's going to use the vertical and the F-5 can not keep up there most of the time. - If the AI goes up for a loop or an Immelmann, keep your nose down-ish, as soon as the enemy plane comes down, roll in behind them. - Try to retain your energy, the F-5 in DCS is not a good dogfighter at low speeds. Therefore, also try to gain speed and a bit of altitude before the merge, you'll need both.

  12. In a Case 1 scenario, the AI wingman in the A model tomcat (didnt try the F-14B in that regard) lowers his flaps although the wings are swept back. That shouldnt be possible.
  13. Hey there, since there are so many talented 3d and texture artists out there, what would you think of a TARPS (reconnaissance) pod for the F-14? There is a Weapons Mod for the F-16 which contains a recce pod and other, sometimes only cosmetic loadouts. I think many from the big DCS Tomcat community would like a "TURD" under the belly, just for the looks and the massive weight. And maybe even an ALQ-167 jamming pod that was frequently used together with TARPS.
  14. How strange... I can't re-equip them either. Found myself in a dogfight with two MiGs and without sidewinder. Maybe it's a mod problem, I'll take a look. Thanks anyway.
  15. Today I noticed that in all my loadouts with AIM-9L, the sidewinders are missing. Anyone else noticed that?
  16. In the F-14, my wingman NEVER hits anything with LGBs. Missions that once worked just fine now seem kinda obsolete for me.
  17. For my part, I only did the main textures, not the roughmets.
  18. If I use Jester to locate the tanker via TACAN, I can see bearing and range for some seconds, but both vanish after some time. It was working before - is that a bug or is there a workaround?
  19. I use the standard DDS setting of paint.net, that works for me.
  20. I fixed it by opening and saving the DDS files in Paint.net - I think it has to do with the DDS settings.
  21. Yeah, I'm looking so forward to the tadpole, even if it's just AI. I'm also eager to make some skins to go with the airwings we have.
  22. Having listened to one of the latest "Tomcast" episodes, I wanted to create an Allied Force inspired mission - its a pity we can not set up AI Tomcats as airbourne FACs.
  23. Was there ever a solution for this? I reckon it shouldnt be too hard, but its a real PITA placing the airplanes (statics) via trial-and-error without the markings and elevator edges.
  24. Was there ever a fix for this one? I try to replicate a Desert Storm Mission and can't even hit a RUNWAY. Which is pretty long.
