Hey there, I think many of us like to re-create training scenarios like from Top Gun, Red Flag and so on. I kinda bugs me that we have to use "real" weapons in those, at least in single player missions. If I load training weapons or ACMI pods in the mission editor, the AI planes won't engage. Wouldnt it be easy to make the AI treat ACMI pods or training sidewinders like real weapons? So the AI would engage.

Another fantastic set of skins, Isoko! That one is giving me goosebumps. -
Regarding the intake whine sound: Selecting afterburner suddenly stops that whistling, I dont think that's supposed to be like that.

Hey Razor, I love those liveries, too. I've recently gotten into making skins, that blue camo might be a nice test for my new graphic tablet. I might be able to do that one - there are some scale model decals around, with good instructions how to paint that beautiful bird.

Militariy Aircraft Mod
Tomcatter87 replied to BlackLibrary's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Hey there, based on the original Iranian skin from the MAM, I did a camo IRIAF version because I always liked the look of those. Quite a nice plane to intercept in an F-14A I put quite some work into weathering and finding the correct colors. However, I dont know who created the original livery - cdpkobra, BlackLibrary(MaiTai) or Urbi? Whoever it is, I'd like to ask permission to upload my camo skin to the user files section. -
Thanks for the work! Nice to see some more liveries have been added. Cant wait to see that Prowler and the improved flight model in action, I just updated a mission I'm gonna use it in. Since I wanna put that beautiful jet all over my flight decks: Does anyone know how many Prowlers on deck could be considered "normal"?

Since our community has so many talented modders: has someone thought of creating a TARPs mod? I'm imagining a non-functional external payload with the correct weight and looks. So we can at least pretend flying a recon mission - or provide escort for a cat with the "TURD" attached. Excuse my language, that's how some pilots called it. Since there was a mod for the F-16 centerline tank and ECM pod, maybe that's possible?

DCS Super Hercules mod by Anubis
Tomcatter87 replied to Eight Ball's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
After weeks of enjoying the herc, I'm getting a CTD now. I hadnt changed anything, wanted to fly a mission that once worked for me. On mission start, as soon as I can see the cockpit, DCS crashes. At first I thought an update to the newest version of the hercules might help, but that wasn't the case. I'm a Steam user, the steam-option in the menu is enabled. Anyone else having that problem? -
Y'all are showing really nice new liveries, I hope they'll be available to download sometime

I know, thats why I posted it Even wrote sth, dunno where that went.

Thanks for that great mod! Gonna place that Prowler in all of my carrier missions...

Hey folks, there are a lot of nice skins for the MiG-23. However, many of them appear to be broken. Is there a way to fix them or do we have to wait if the authors do this?
-
After the latest update, DCS somehow does not recognize the formation in which the player and the AI wingman started the mission. For example, if I set up a close group formation via mission editor at mission start, the radio menu doesnt allow me to command my wingman to open formation. I therefore have to tell him to close formation and then to open it again.

DCS Super Hercules mod by Anubis
Tomcatter87 replied to Eight Ball's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
I did. Something else was the probem: I forgot to delete an older version of the mod. As soon as I got rid of that one, it worked like a charm. So great! One thing I really wish for is some more camo liveries. I'd love to see one of those (I know, not a J model, but still...) -

Got the latest version of the Hercules - great work, love that massive bird. However I can't get the paratroopers to show up in the loadout menu. In a grim reapers video, they use the rearm menu and select the paratroopers as a "pod" - however they dont seem to be there. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? -

Since I somehow associated the Black Lions mostly with the Super Tomcat, I wasn much into them. But right now I stumbled across that F-14A CAG bird from 1995 - holy cow (lion?), what a beauty! -
Usually I'm not into fictional skins. But they're awesome.

As I'm diving into a early-80s-scenario for the Syrian/Lebanon map: A VF-11 red rippers skin from that era would be perfect to accompany the wonderful Tomcatters livery -

Oh, that looks gorgeous, you're the man. Cant wait to replicate that famous picture of the inverted formation - not the one with the black F-5, the real one -

Thanks, Swordman! They look really great. I love the fact that you do almost entire squadrons - I love populated decks with different bort numbers. -
Mediterranean US Fleet - Historically realistic settings
Tomcatter87 replied to Bananabrai's topic in Military and Aviation
The composition of the carrier air wings changes over the year. In 1988/89, CVW 8 consisted of VF-41, VF.84, VFA-15, VFA-87, VA-35 and 36, both flying the Intruder, and so on. For building missions, I always use gonavy.jp, it's a great resource for finding out where certain carriers were at which time and what the squadrons were. http://www.gonavy.jp/CVW-AJf.html -
Really cool! So far I'd avoided using classic F-14A skins on the B, but now I really enjoy them. Great work!
