Cheers

Hurray!!! Yet another lucky one - Hurray!

Fix the Syria MAP . !!! Its Killing my computer .
THERION replied to KoN's topic in Bugs and Problems
Sorry then. I "invested" a lot of money too on different modules - and they're not even nearly finished yet as they announce more and more. I have decided to stop new investments on DCS for the moment and will observe how all evolves. I have already enough modules to work with and trying to master. -
DCS Super Hercules mod by Anubis
THERION replied to Eight Ball's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
I'm not 100% sure, but this MOD might use some components of FC3 and is therefore needed? A lot of airplane MODS are based on FC3, so this might be the issue. -

Ja, ja - alles klar! I'm not a conspiracy guy, so keep your sarcasm. Thank you. -
Fix the Syria MAP . !!! Its Killing my computer .
THERION replied to KoN's topic in Bugs and Problems
You have my sympathy, mate. And I know, you're also part on another Russian simulator community. I had the same problem with the Syria map too, but already some month back. First I thought, the map needs to be optimized, although I already knew, my system won't do it in the next future. The main problem is, even if someone has a descent rig, 16GB of RAM won't be enough - not now and definitely not in the future. Sad but true. DCS is not a simulation to be played on a medium system and not to mention on a low system, period. I even have to realize that people with brand new rigs struggle in some way. Sure, the game engine might need some revision, but I strongly doubt it will happen anytime soon. The dilemma ED has, they produce many modules at the same time and sometimes I think they can't catch-up with their own developing pace - so many things to consider and to manage at the same time - one should expect a professional developer team being able to tackle and master this huge task, but I don't know what human resources they have for this. Anyway, I tried to investigate on how to optimize my old system and came to the conclusion, it was absolutely worthless to invest on my old system - I couldn't even find a descent RAM module that would fit on my old motherboard - I definitively reached the end of the road here. I finally decided with my very narrow budget possibility to change all components of my outdated system - it took me nearly 6 month to put my new system together - very frustrating in some way to wait for so long. Now, my system can handle most of the DCS content I already have, although definitively not on the highest settings, but with a reasonable quality. I lost some FPS with the last patch, but hey, it is still playable for me, so I do not care very much - the weakest part of my system still is my GPU (1080), but I won't change this anytime soon as the prices for new generation GPUs are absolutely outrageous and I'm not going to support this market. Maybe ED should also consider the fact, that not every customer has a high-end system and therefore it might be wise to optimize their game engine in a way that not everybody needs to alter their hardware every time they release an update. Because, if they keep it like this, DCS will end-up in a elitist combat simulation... Cheers -
@BIGNEWY I do not use GI, but ON/OFF is not much of a difference. But what I always avoid, is having mirrors ON. I have them ON when taxiing, but as soon I'm ready to be launched or ready to take-off, I switch them OFF. On my system mirrors make a difference of ca. 10 FPS. Concerning the clouds or weather presets, this is also very performance taxing. To me, it seems the last patch screwed the whole DCS graphic system in some way. I tried different settings and also different planes, as there are some cockpits as f.ex. the F-14 which are quite demanding for the rendering process. Before the patch, I did not notice any significant FPS loss (maybe 2-5 FPS loss). Now, I do observe a loss of 10-15 FPS, but at least I do not have any stutter...

Yes, you can actually use JsGME to manage your mods in IL2 GB, although it is quite outdated. I'd suggest to use OvGME, which is far better to me and not that old. With this tool you can create different profiles for different games. So you only need one tool to manage your MODS for several games. It's easy to use.

OVGME - the right tool?
THERION replied to SparrowHawk003's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yep, it is the tool to go, if you want to manage your MODs safely and with no issues. I use it for DCS and IL2 Great Battles. That's the good thing with this tool - you can manage different sims/games with one tool. I highly recommend it. -
If you want to play with infantry, there are a plethora of FPS games around - some very good ones. I don't see the necessity in FPS ability for DCS - waste of time and waste of money if you ask me. I've never been fond of "jack in all trades" solutions.

winter update still on track? (yak-52 candlelit vigil)
THERION replied to twistking's topic in DCS: Yak-52
Sorry, but I think you didn't read correctly, what I wrote. I do not complain about early access modules being under development and therefore not completed / finished. My complaint is about modules supposedly being finished and charged at a full price. -
winter update still on track? (yak-52 candlelit vigil)
THERION replied to twistking's topic in DCS: Yak-52
In all seriousness, do you really believe in this part of your sentence? To be honest, I don't think they will have time ever, especially if you think about how many modules ED is shelling out / announcing at the moment. Maybe it is ED's own strategy to developpe many different modules in parallel / at the same time, but I definitively have my doubts on how to manage these tasks and to still have the overview of things to be done or fixed - might end up in chaos a little bit, if you ask me. When I purchase a module, I'm very well aware that not all things are working as they should with the first release, especially when in early access, but to wait month over month to finally get what I payed for (except EA of course) is annoying... and I'm generally a patient guy. And btw. it's not only ED's way of doing things I'm worried about, other 3rd party developers struggle with the same / similar method. Just my thoughts... Cheers P.S.: If you buy a new car at the full price, you expect to have all the options installed, right? Or would you accept f.ex. that the foldable roof of your convertible will be delivered some years later? I don't think so. -
Of course there are alternatives, mate. I didn't want to deny them, but I only have experience with the "original" TrackIR, so I mentioned my experience with this device. I know, there are other devices working as good as the "original" one, if not better (I don't know). But I didn't mentioned them, because I do not have any experience with them. There are a lot of guys and gals here with appropriate experience to talk about it. Cheerio

This was an incredible step ahead for me - what an immersion! I use this device since more than 8 years now and I'm still impressed. The next step for me would be VR, but as long as the prices are that high, especially for new generation GPUs and VR headsets, it is not an option for me. I have made very good experiences with the original TrackIR, although the price is quite high for this piece of hardware, which hasn't evolved very much in the last 5 years (also their software). It runs very well and flawless, but I think their price politics is a insolence...

Yeah or just ask... (me)

I absolutely agree with you - I also like detailed cockpits and exterior models, but not like it's been practiced with the modules they lately published or the forthcoming ones. It is very nice to see, yes, but I going to be a performance killer and the hardware requirements will surpass some people's budget. And I'm definitely not willing to alter my hardware every 6 month only to be able to count every rivet, weathered rivet, oil stains behind my ejection seat - pointless if you ask me.
-
Well in my case yes - instructions still valid. As I already mentioned, I've got the GameTrix Jetseat since 2013, but without any software, because at the time, the "other simulator" from Russia didn't support any output for the Jetseat and that's why I used the sound mode, but it was annoying to me after some hours of use, so I disconnected the whole thing and tossed it back into the box. The Jetseat app is only useful if you intend to run it with the sound mode and if you'd like some relaxing massage time. But it is free anyway and does no harm. But it is definitely not necessary to use/run it in the background to be able to run the "red or the blue" software. OK?
-
Exactly, I also got the Gametrix jetseat since 2013 and it still works perfectly. I never had any issues and I even stapled this on my wooden DIY cockpit seat! Works since day one.
-
No, you're not forced to use it, if you simply use the sound mode. BUT, I repeat BUT: Using the sound mode is - although a cheapy solution - very annoying with the time, because your actuators of your jetseat will react with every single tiny sound output, f.ex. mouse clicks, theme music etc. So, if you really want some immersive experience I really recommend the Simshaker for Aviators software - you won't regret. It's fully customable, you can create profiles for each and every plane you have and fine tune it. To me, it's a must! Btw. I don't think you have to buy the software, because this one is free, whereas the software Simshaker Wings not. You will need a licence for this one and it does not work for DCS. Simshaker for Aviators software is designed to work with DCS. I've got both, because I also use "the other simulator" from Russia... Cheerio P.S.: Text colouring is intended!

Hi, not sure, if it has already been reported, but I have some considerable performance issues with this module. All other modules run fine on my system and I have no stutter, but with the Mi-24P Hind I get some annoying stutter and sometimes some micro freezes. My system: Asus TUF Gaming Z590-Plus Intel I5-11600K running at 4.9 mhz Crucial Ballistix @3200 / 32 GB Asus Nvidia 1070 / 8 GB Vram Samsung nvme ssd 500 GB Asus Monitor 27" 1920x1080 @60hz My game's settings: NVidia Control Panel: All settings per default, except "Power Management Settings" set to "Prefer max. performance". Any ideas? Or is it just because the module is still early access and we can all hope that they will optimize the module's performance? Cheerio

This mod looks fantastic indeed, much more natural. Great work! Are there any plans to implement this tech also to other maps like Normandie / Caucasus? Cheers

If I read the blue print correctly, this might be the distance from the cockpit floor to the top edge of the cockpit's dashboard (without the HUD).
