  1. Resetting snapview values to 0 made it look much better in VR for me. It still felt a little high on the seat and a bit too much back but I manually adjusted it and then saved the view. It had all crazy values in there by default. Some were negative too.
  2. Yeah I figured that was it. The level to detail is really nice. It's a real by the instruments jet so the HUD is not the best thing to use.
  3. I was doing the same thing. Also notice how when you climb the pitch ladder bars move slowly compared to modern huds? I thought it was my PC lagging in VR with this module but I think it's normal.
  4. This is a common issue for all modules since the previous update. You can only set one axis at a time. Also select axis from the drop down menu when assigning axis rather than clicking the axis button on bottom of the control inputs section. Once you set an axis, hit ok and exit DCS then come back in, set the next one, hit ok, exit DCS, etc.
  5. I also bound it to the cms switch of my mcg pro grip. I followed spudknocker's hotas video. It's dlc aft and forward and dlc press. I didn't see an option for dlc four way switch but I'll have to check again.
  6. I also noticed these little issues. For #1 this also happens in the take off training. You see some text which is supposed to be RIO getting taxi authorization from the tower but a bit later you hear him speaking along with the text. First part of the training text is not spoken. I think this may be an issue with all the assets still loading as I requested ground and electric power and didn't hear anything and then a few seconds later they all came in at once. I noticed the same thing with the emergency gen master test position, didn't see any lights. Another one for the master test, when you are told to select Stick SW, instructor says you should see some lights come on when you move the stick and then you should see the flight stability switches get disengaged and some lights should go on after you set master test off. I didn't see this happening and my flight stability for pitch /yaw remained engaged. For #4 I also observed the same thing. After setting wing sweep to full forward and closing the guard(after pushing the lever down) the other part of the training text doesn't seem to make the wings respond. I think we need to push master reset everytime time you touch the wing sweep. For this reason I also could not do the other parts of the testing the wings. Flaps and stabs I think relate to the movement of the flap lever. You have to manually set it to half way and you should see flaps and stabs move outside. We only have flaps up or down bindable in controls. The training commands need to be broken down to smaller pieces with press space in between. I had a better understanding of all the tests when I did the assisted startup in the instant action action cold start mission.
  7. I have Toggle menu in options set to the warthog slew nub press function. If it's bound correctly to toggle menu in options pressing it once brings up jester menu and pressing it again makes a selection.
  8. I'm going to try to manually set this in my snap view lua file tonight. Last night I tried to do it in game with the keyboard shortcuts but it would not save the position. I remember a while ago that it did once save for the A10C. In VR it seems I'm placed in the cockpit as if my head is hitting the top of the cockpit glass so I want to lower myself down in the seat. I'll set them manually to zero and see how that looks because I felt really uncomfortable trying to do the landing training yesterday which threw me off a lot. The F18 VR pit is the one I feel like it spawns you in the right place but a few others as soon as you load in feel a bit odd. I dont want to delete the snap view file because I'm pretty sure I have settings for other models I fly which I'll have to redo. I just hope that if I do delete it, the game will save the new one when I adjust it.
  9. That sounds good I'll be excited to download these again for the F14. I still need to learn how to properly land this bird. The way the pitch ladder slowly moves on your HUD sometimes makes me think if my computer is lagging lol. They got so many details right. You're right about the radios, in VR I can barely see what the labels say. I really hope heatblur will come up with a little bit cleaner pit which should help with the visibility of all the switches too.
  10. It was doing this for me on the startup tutorial but maybe that's because it's on a carrier? I then tried the instant action cold start and it did not rumble until engines were on.
  11. Haha I bet you could just swap out the f18 for the tomcat.
  12. Yeah my thoughts too, it's just annoying to do it in VR. When I take off my headset and put it back on to make sure I hit the correct keys for saving, sometimes I end up saving the wrong snapview.
  13. Is this file holding all the snapviews for all aircraft?
  14. In my opinion to me it felt like my view in VR seemed too high up as if I was sitting on books on the pilot seat. I'll have to play around with the position.
  15. I noticed this information overload the first time I did that cold start up. I have yet to fly the jet because I still don't know how to start it up by the book. What would help is break down the sections of large text especially in VR and have press space bar more often after each item they want you to press. For example when the instructor started talking about time to start the engines, I thought I was supposed to be doing everything in that giant paragraph. I had both engines started by the time he got to the last paragraph and then I saw, "now set the crank to right engine" Oh oops I already did all that was I supposed to to wait? What helped me was to use the instant action cold start mission and use jester for assisted start. I did that first then I went and did the cold and dark training mission again and this time I wasn't bothered by the information or the speed of it at which it was spewing out of the instructor's mouth.
  16. It should be an option. I won't fly on a screen again after VR I just cant.
  17. In the tutorial it took me 10 minutes of spinning the master test switch to finally deduce that I'm in the emergency gen portion. Now I know these things are no required but I like to do things by the book and learn it all properly. I just don't think not worrying about VR is something to put off quickly because it may be fine on a monitor. I haven't used my trackir since I got the Odyssey/Rift. I also don't have issues in VR with other airframes, except maybe the harrier which I will say is also a bit hard to see. For the most part I can tell what a switch or label should be with VR zoom. I don't think it needs a lot of changes at all. I think to make it more legible in VR we just need a less worn labels/switches and it should be perfect then. Some of those labels on the switches look like someone took sandpaper over them, a bit too worn.
  18. Using a Samsung Odyssey here with PD of 1.5 and mostly high settings. As Redglyph mentioned setting the gamma to 2.5 at least just for each time I'm in the tomcat does make the cockpit brighter and easier to read in VR. Some switches I had issues seeing are master test switch, hydraulic pump and power switch, the slats and stabs switch, the ics switch, maybe the radio switches since the big yellow markers may be hiding some text in the tutorials but that's fine. I didn't get to fly it tonight because I've been working on starting her up properly. Of course then my girlfriend decides to call me and talk for 2hrs lol. The mig 19 also seemed illegible and dark in VR until the liveries with less ambient occlusion lighting were posted. I will think a less worn and cleaner cockpit would help here, maybe less shadow lighting on the textures? I don't have issues in VR with the viggen. Overall it's a beautiful cockpit and I'm very impressed. Perhaps also if you are in VR changing your view seating position so you are lower may help with reading the switches better.
  19. In VR here as well. I have to lean my head in. Very odd position to get it to a viewable state. Setting it to high is fine it's bringing it back down that's hard and takes a bunch of clicks.
  20. Bind the throttles to the idle/off binding if you have a warthog by moving each throttle out of it's detent..it will read something like button 29& button 30 when you do that.
  21. There are commands in options for wings full, 45, auto, etc in the settings menu. Have you mapped those to a hat switch or something?
  22. Oh that's awesome. Can't wait for the airo extension.
  23. Yeah so for that approach I had a hell of a time setting the radio to far, setting the far frequency and then setting the needle to near and setting the near frequency. Then keep it in far until you have visual on the runway. The needles will align once you are facing the runway. At that point I heard a something ring like my grandma's telephone.
  24. Yeah if we could get a way to see the frequency somewhere that would be good. 420hz also and 662 gives me trouble. I too also ended up somewhere completely different in the navigation mission. I noticed when I was using the kneeboard map to navigate by marking my position, that the glk needle was not pointing in the right direction even though the map mark position showed me going the right way.
  25. Just a question as I'm kind of confused on this one too. Are you suppose to use the bombs to destroy the gaskin and grouse first? Every time I go below the clouds to not waste the bombs I end up getting shot up. The first time I used the bombs on the first two AA defenses since wingman won't do anything above the cloud layer. I then destroyed the two bunkers with the remaining bombs but I also missed out on contacting the jtac. It seems there are other AA units besides the gaskin and grouse after you destroy those two. I guess you need to contact jtac for the mission to continue but I got the bunkers too while above the cloud layer and was wondering what else I had to do because it wasn't directing me on anything else but I had forgotten to contact jtac as well.
